  1. I'm actually surprised at where Dallas-Fort Worth ranks. While active, the area has not seen anywhere near the highrise development that Houston has. Knowing that two-thirds of the new Houston projects are petrochemical plants, I have to suspect a large share of the Dallas-Fort Worth projects are also other than buildings. There's been a lot of work on the DFW freeways and it is continuing for another few years.
  2. The problem is everyone's going to get overcautious, which means no development, which means rents and home prices will zoom.
  3. I didn't want to start a new thread for this, since I think there's got to be one already. Swamplot mentions a shelved project that was going to take down the Georgian Apartments on Willowick may be still in the offing. It was supposed to be a 40-story development. I can't imagine it being anywhere close to starting, but it's apparently still alive, as the buyer has received an extension... http://swamplot.com/on-then-off-sale-of-the-georgian-apartments-near-highland-village-is-on-again-maybe/2015-01-26/
  4. "Before" wasn't so shabby, either. I can remember back to 1977 when none of those buildings existed.
  5. My problem is none of the real estate brokers in this town appear to have had to work hard to get tenants, and they've gotten soft and lazy. Rumor has it that despite the apparent change of heart that two Fortune 500s had about moving to the Woodlands, there are still plenty of others looking to relocate from out of town. Have any of these developers like Crescent told them they have a building they'd quite like to lease up?
  6. I think these developers are still sitting back and waiting for tenants to knock on the door. They need to face the fact that they will need to pound the pavement a little.
  7. All they need to know is they can still get the same exorbitant rents they were planning to charge, even in this market.
  8. I keep forgetting about this one, given the other buildings rising nearby. Good to see progress.

  10. Looks like it's 22 or 23 floors. That's about what it was before. But once again, presto change-o...
  11. Swamplot says "more brick" (which must be the architectural equivalent of "more cowbell").
  12. And this is in West Houston's future, per Swamplot: http://swamplot.com/hiding-in-plan-for-west-houston-new-streets-cutting-through-george-bush-park-addicks-reservoir/2015-01-21/ And just in case the bicyclists and joggers feel shortchanged...
  13. Frightened yet? It's like watching lava roll through one of those Italian towns on slopes of Vesuvius in 1944...
  14. Skanska announces it again: http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/morning_call/2015/01/skanska-moves-forward-on-second-controversial.html Skanska moves forward on second controversial Energy Corridor tower
  15. That said, it's turned into a bland box. Must be another casualty of inflation of labor and materials.
  16. HBJ describes this as being near Rice University. It will cost about $49 million for the 269 units in the complex. Maybe one of our developer lurkers can tell us how big a building you get for $49 million. http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/morning_call/2015/01/more-inner-loop-luxury-apartments-planned.html
  17. Spring start, December completion. Per the Chron: http://blog.chron.com/primeproperty/2015/01/montrose-apartments-to-break-ground-this-spring/
