  2. Judging by the render, they're just taking the Sugar Land design and reproducing it...
  3. Seems like Related's a pretty big name, so that suggests highrise and residential...
  4. Dallas almost can't be compared, because a lot of companies are in those suburban places north and west of the city. I would not be surprised if Frisco and Westlake rival Downtown. And Exxon Mobil should not be on the list till next year.
  5. To quote Jesse Dayton, "I lost three fingers and I got a bad back..."
  6. 609 was always going to be hard to spot, given its location within a cluster of highrises. Pennzoil is even harder to spot now, and it used to be the most distinctive building downtown.
  7. The Rosewood is one I'm not familiar with. And 1600 Louisiana isn't happening without Chevron. I'd be interested to compare these downtowns with Austin.
  8. Highrises in Conroe are going to be a jarring sight that far north on I-45. And now there are plans for a major suburban community up in New Waverly. The city just metastasizes...
  9. At 325 units, it's a drop in the bucket. Houston needs more affordable units, and they probably should be distributed city-wide, rather than in a cluster. I'm also not enthused about the cinder-block character of the structures; it really is not family-friendly.
  10. With Exxon Mobil moving down here, it's not too far-fetched to imagine Chevron being interested in Five Allen as a new corporate home. Get the two biggest oil companies in the US here in less than a year, and that could start a gold rush.
  11. This render showed up in a recent announcement about start of construction on the first building, but the apartment towers appear to be much taller than the fifteen stories that were mentioned in the news article. Has the new design been rendered yet?
  12. With Exxon Mobil coming to town, it's entirely possible Chevron could be next. Also, oil's almost $90 a barrel this morning, with forecasts of $100 a barrel being speculated about.
  13. And now the corporate headquarters is moving from Irving. Channel 2
  14. For a long time, the entire south side, especially around the Dome, was not able to develop because City utilities did not reach it. Also, 288 was not built. Both of those developments, which occurred in the '80s, allowed both commercial and residential development to extend southward.
  15. "Well, y'see you starts with yer purple Tyvek, then you puts yer blue Tyvek on that, follow it up with yer green Tyvek, then put some bland white paneling over the whole mess and call it done..."
