  1. hey quick question, how tall is MainPlace in FEET?
  2. i just wish they would give us some more info on the brookfield building just so we can have a better idea of the project itself.
  3. i think i like but im not sure because i cant quite tell what it really looks like. so as soon someone has a clearer image i wont be sure... but i do apreciate you channeltwonews for getting the rendering up. i give you mad props for that.
  4. i dont understand what they are talking about when they say it will break ground on earth day '08 and open on earth day '11. are they talking about the parking garage? because MainPlace is going to break ground this year if im not misunderstaken.
  5. i think we need to get KHOU to have a segment on this tonight. that would really be cool. how do we get them to have a report on it? i tried writing to them i cant do it for some reason.
  6. i just realized this. i went to my google earth to see if it will make an impact on the skyline and it definatley will. i put the buildings up on G.E, and i have the mainplace site as a placemark on G.E. i viewed downtown from the famous view (the west), and realized that you will be able to see it easily between bank of america and one shell plaza. i dont know how to photocrop so this is the best i can do.
  7. oh i hope someone can do that i just asked someone on skyscrapercity to do it if they could.
  8. i absolutely love this building. one thing what is "IMO"? and with hines going to the old shamrock site which is supposed to be the site for the 60= houston city centre does that mean city centre is cancelled? im praying that it isnt because i would love to see it built too. but when they mentioned hines' second site, is it possible that the site is across the street from houston city centre and still have the main, texas, and capitol adress?
  9. i read like 2 weeks ago in i think the houston biz journal that vacancy was only 8% now. and the energy corridor is only 2%.
  10. i hope it will look like one of pickard chilton usual designs like the aim and the atlanta one. i think it will add a new style in houston and will set off a new style boom in downtown. i havent really heard and if i have i forgot. but when exactly does hines 47 (800 main) breakground?
  11. i'm kinda disappointed now. that just sounds like a grey box. thats not a jewel or a landmark from the sounds of it. but maybe thats just my imagination and it will be a jewel or a landmark if someone could post a rendering...
  12. no genius. look where discovery tower will be. i know it says one park place but look at the pic and you'll see what im talking about.
  13. this is the closest i have to a rendering and i think we have all seen it before...
  14. i have looked just about everywhere i can and think of and i havent found one either. they may not have it because they dont know what the height will be yet (assuming). but if they do, they need to get it out in the public for us to see.
  15. tramell crows website says that is between 600,000 sqft. and 1.2 million sqft.
  16. when i first saw that discovery tower was planning to build, i saw that it was going to be at least 31 floors and great potential to make it to 50 floors. yet everytime i see a thing on it, it says 31 floors. i really hope it goes to at least 40-45 floors. and do we still not have a rendering on this yet?
  17. well, six houston center, turnberrry tower are the only ones that i couldnt find an address. but they could also be talking about how there are so many buildings being proposed that they meant to say that they arent sure if they are going to be built or not... im just throwing an assumtion out there, just trying to help..
  18. well, with the brick at the bottom and then an all glass tower on the top... would that standout with the buildings around it or will it just be some other tall building in houston that didnt live up to the hype? the architect on the project has very futuristic desgins with the other buildings he has done. the one on top of my head is the never built AIM Corporate Headquarters that would have been in the galleria. im curious how he can make a postmodern building with a little bit of 1900's houston with it.. it could be a challenge dont you think?...
  19. i know that the rice hotel in downtown was restored into lofts
  20. channel 11 news reported today that the houston conservation council is going to try to make hines design it the "old" houton way, since they cant save the montague. by the "old" way, do they just mean another brown or tan block that just rises into the sky like a giant brick???
