I remember that! One of the first Taco Bells I can remember had that fire pit and was over on Bellaire near the Broiler Burger...
-
Heh! I put down plenty of pitchers of beer at that one! I used to go to that one when I was in High School on weekends with friends...pizza, beer, movies...bowling...those were the days.

Who appointed you arbiter of what one knows and doesn't? Be gone, troll!

Oh blah-blah-blah! 1.) Why are you flaming me over this? and 2.) Where is your almighty "evidence" that anything is being done to develop the site? So far, anything I've offered up on this topic is about as substantial as what you have...which is to say: nothing. Pffft!

Follow the link... http://www.theshowboatdrivein.com/ They show those old intermission clips during the intermission... Yeah, definitely the Astrodome is higher priority...and rightfully so.

Dat's right! Damned straight, bee-otch! LOL!!!!

It's everybody's fault! Nah, mostly it's Six Flags' fault for closing my beloved Astroworld! Bastards. Now all we have is a boring and vacant lot! Anyway, it's Houston's fault for not promoting development of the property...and no, putting an Earl Sheibs or a car dealership or apartment complex there ain't gonna cut it! We need something fun and exciting. At the very least they could put a SUPER Original Timmy Chans there! Bee-otches! So, that's what I say. So let it be written, so let it be done!

Considering its location it might as well be! Ay-yi-yi!!!!

What tha hell??? Six Flags went and tore down Astroworld and this property has been just sitting vacant ever since! Typical Houston lame-o planning. Say WHAT? *ahem* The Show-Boat Drive in has been operating out near Tomball for a while now and to my knowledge they have not had any problems with regard to security. I've driven across town to see films there and I HIGHLY recommend it!

I remember KiTiRiK...I was never on it, but I remember it. Probably one of my earliest TV memories. I also remember when KTRK showed Jack LaLane and Casper cartoons in the morning...and Cadet Don! Anybody remember him? Damn that was a lonnnnng time ago, huh?

It's a great paper if you like Pravda. I've shifted towards getting my news on the internet. I find it much more substantial, relevent, and factual.

Marriott Motor Hotel At 2100 South Braeswood Blvd.

I used to go to some record conventions there during the early 90's... I know what you mean about feeling sad over bare plots of land like that. That's exactly the way I feel when I pass the place where Astroworld used to be. Seeing the crossbridge that goes over 610 S to where it was (the only "piece of Astroworld" still left) still standing really adds to the melancholy....- 13 replies

That's true. I prefer the "hole in the wall places" or smaller local chains. I recommend Manuels...up on FM1960 and El Imperial on 1960 is still good too.
