Had a sighting of a bald eagle this morning just east of the med center on Brays Bayou. There are three Osprey that usually work this stretch that I call the Big bend. Lots of Heron and Egrets hang out in the rapids there. But nothing like an Eagle. My wife who works on 6th floor of UT school of nursing said when she got up in her office she watched it flying back and forth fishing the bayou.
It was incredible to see such a big bird on Brays Bayou. Hope its there again tomorrow.
That's VERY cool!

i've never understood these types of bumps... since when has any major news gone unannounced here??? if it was dead or moving forward someone would've said something. honestly can't remember the last time someone bumped a thread like this and received some groundbreaking news in response.
carry on.
Ha!

Agreed... Very underdone for such a high profile building.

Maybe I'm missing something, but does this looks anything like the crown currently going up?

They started building out a steel frame yesterday to expand the crown to encompass the entire floor. This morning it looks like they were boxing it in with the pre-cast.

From the construction came, it also looks like they are also about to pour a new parking lot next to the Bently / Rolls dealer. Thanks for the update. Good news!

It doesn't compare to the San Jacinto project across the street. The quality of materials and overall design gives it the edge hands down.
I concur. No comparison to 1825 San Jacinto. In my opinion the building looks cheap. I'm happy about the infill, but am not a big fan of this one.

The crown is only being built on the east side. It looks odd from the north & south.
It really does look odd from the North. Noticed that on Friday. Was hoping it would encompass the entire top, but looks like that's not happening. Although a much nicer building, it kind of reminds me of Memorial Herman's offset crown in Memorial City. Just strikes me as a strange thing to do.

Not sure I agree... It's not groundbreaking, but it's a decent looking hotel. The view at night from the pool deck (East) is very nice. Plus it's the best looking highrise in Memorial City. IMO anyway.

Guess they decided to forego retail.

Not that crazy about the wall separating the stairs from the kitchen.

Where are all of the ground breaking designs in Dallas?
I'm in Dallas weekly, and have no clue where their groundbreaking designs are.
Edit: I can't spell.

It is nice but I didn't like the small strip of parking in front of the HEB. If you are trying to make this pedestrian friendly, make the sidewalks as wide as possible and let people enter the store directly from the sidewalk.
I'm a little curious. Considering what we know about the project, Where would you have the patrons park?

I mentioned the Nicholas Clayton being razed for this travesty a month or two ago. Regardless of the state of the Clayton, this is a terrible replacement for a nice piece of existing architecture. I find it sad.

This is going the crown stucco jewel of Uptown. Will really tie in the other tan/beige beautes.
I had the exact same thought.

I appreciate the response, and don't need an education in the "real world." Again, I asked a simple question. A simple and informed response was all that was needed. Thanks.

Yes, they replaced a broken down, impossible to renovate building with something that meets their needs.
Thanks for the sarcasm. It was a simple question regarding a beautiful historic church being razed... Now, please explain how it was "impossible to renovate."

I haven't been following this, but are you guys telling me that they knocked that beautiful building down, and are putting up the terrible crap (page 3) in it's place?

Cool shot. My buddy put the Bike fest together. There is a lot more planned for bike festivals downtown in the not to distant future. They've been very successful.

The more I look at the screen shot, it looks like this is very preliminary. Here's to hoping something changes, and vastly. This is prime real estate and this development looks like the uptown Target on steroids.

Horrible in pretty much every way. What a wasted opportunity.

Lum, I personally love the fact that Houston has a small town feel to it, and keeps being too sophisticated in check. It's what makes it quirky... Austin's anthem applies.

Am I the only one here that thinks this tower isn't very attractive? Love the infill, but not a big fan.
