Any thoughts on which of the many Galleria area highrise condos is the best in terms of the location, amenities, views of the city, etc? I am including soon to be built buildings like Titan and Turnberry in this, not just already build condos. I appreciate any thoughts/opinions?

I recently reviewed the floorplans on the website. Something I don't understand is why all the soldout units are facing south? I would figure the best views would be facing north? What gives? Is there a big premium for a north facing unit? I have heard the units top out at $500 per sq ft. That would put a 2000 sq ft unit at a cool million - not cheap. Do they count terrace space? Turnberry seems to offer bigger units for the money, although I suppose kirby has better views/location. Thoughts?

One of the reasons I am thinking about mosaic is b/c there seems to be more young people there. While 2727 and Turnberry are probably better, I could see myself hangin with a bunch of rich old stuffy types - not hot young women!

Just curious, if you had to pick one - 2727 Kirby, Mosiac, or Turnberry without geographic restictions, which would you choose and why??

Has anyone been inside the Penthouse? I am seriously thinking of buying one near the end of 2008. It just seems like a cool place to live. But, I want to know if it looking like it will be worth the money (1.3 mil listed, although I am sure it will come down). I can only hope the current economic slowdown and impending housing market troubles will allow me to get a good deal before the end of 2008.

BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir At 1150 Brand Ln.
amdave replied to ArchitecturalPRGirl's topic in Holy Places
Actually, the sect of Hinduism is called "swaminarayan" or BAPS. They are a conservative lot when it comes to women especially and are strict vegetarians. The temples they build are amazing, b/c the follower have a huge amount of money in general. They build these temples all over the world, but by most accounts the one in Houston is the best in the US. Stafford was picked b/c the land is cheaper and it is close to Sugar Land, which has a large Indian population. They recetly constucted this temple http://www.akshardham.com/ in New Dehli which many are calling the new Taj Mahal - it is amazing. -

Actually - I live in Bay Colony. I have seen all the development here since I purchased this house in 2003. Yes, there are major new shops going up here. This is a small area of League City, however, and is well positioned close to the freeway. Bay Colony is technically in League City, but most would consider it closer to Dickinson. Many of us have Dickinson postal addresses. There certainly room for growth here, and I do not mind living here right now. But, Sugar Land is so much better in every way. The homes are nicer, the people living there are wealthier, the area is better developed and booming, and it is closer to Houston. SL also has a lot of land, especially along the Brazos river for development. I would say a lot of the development here in Bay Colony is being driven by people who work in Galveston but do not want to live there, and commute everyday. I know very few people who live here who work in downtown Houston. -

No way - I live in League City and while development here is good it is nowhere near the pace of Sugar Land. Telfair is a massive development and Riverstone will have a large section within Sugar Land. No to mention the UH campus coming to SL and the Brazos river park. My father works for Bechtel and they are opening a large office in Sugar Land. I enjoy League City but would move to SL in a second if I could afford a house there. SL is one of the fastest growing cities in Texas, and the future is bright. -

wow - SL continues to develop at a remarkable pace. The companies moving to the area is also a positive sign - the future seems bright and it will soon no longer be a suburb alone but a sister city. -
Anyone know when this thing is supposed to be finished? The penthouse looks sweet - but is listed at over $1 million.

Wow - this place would be ideal for me. I work in Lake Jackson, but live in Houston. I would love to live off 288 and inside the loop, which would put my commute at @40 mins. The location and views would be awesome! Being that close to the museum district, park, med center and not too far from the Galleria would be great. I hope Almeda would be devloped, b/c right now there is not much there. I think in a few years once the area matures I will be looking to buy.
