  1. LOL...wiring for the green undercarriage lights?
  2. Truth is difficult for whom??? Do you read any of your little one-line replies after you post them? I swear, half the time they make little sense.
  3. I've never been a Finger's customer (couldn't stand their salespeople), but I do wish him luck. It's refreshing to see a bit of candor with regard to the mistakes made with their previous expansion attempts. Didn't try to blame the economy, at least admitting they only "probably" would have been OK if it hadn't stumbled. And I do love the comments on the chron page...especially the one about people "not wanting to drive out to that neighborhood," and the random gripes about furniture quality.
  4. As I stated in an earlier post, Ashley and Fingers are not affiliated. They were supposed to be, and that is what got all the press a while back, but Hill Country got the franchise and the Ashley rights belong to them. Everything I have seen and posted points to the Finger name staying put, otherwise their website wouldn't have the name and logo, and neither would the Cullen location. And thanks for the update, H-D! Haven't see you around in a while.
  5. IIRC, they were SUPPOSED to become Ashley stores, then Hill Country Furniture Partners did an end run and secured the chain. And given how fresh and clean the "F"s look on the signage, it's staying Fingers. I emailed Nancy Sarnoff to see if she has any info, but haven't heard back yet.
  6. The back end reminds me of a Volvo C30, and the front of the bug i stepped on yesterday. The Touareg, OTOH, is gorgeous. The current model is too heavy and uses far too much gas for the space you get. Shedding over 400lbs will help get it back into fighting weight. And decent mileage from the hybrid to boot. With that interior, who needs a Q7?
  7. I noticed on my way home this evening that the Finger's Furniture location at Cullen says "opening soon" on their sign. We have all watched the painfully slow liquidation sale, then the removal of some of the signs, cleaning of others, etc. And now it is reopening? I can't find anything online, so if anyone knows anything, share it! Not that I'm excited to see it again, but it's better than a vacant building. eta: Their website says it as well... http://www.fingerfurniture.com/
  8. A marked improvement over our XC70. The one thing to watch out for will be how the navigation system works. We test drove an XC60 a while back, and the only way to input was through a ridiculous remote or a toggle on the steering wheel. It was insane. And you couldn't enter destinations while the car was in motion. Like Volvo drivers don't have passengers? Even my CC let's me enter destinations, so I know it isn't a European nanny thing. Just a Swedish (errr, Chinese) nanny thing.
  9. I don't know if you guys have been following the car tech at CES, but there are some incredible devices coming in the near future (aka, the "connected car"), the most interesting of which seem to be from Ford. http://ces.cnet.com/?categoryId=9830919&tag=mncol%3btags
  10. We saw the standard coupe at the LA Auto Show, and it is beautiful in person, very concept car looking. In daily driving, though, that tall back end is going to be a pain to live with. But, the buyer of this car isn't going to be interested in what's behind him!
  11. I had a loaner Acadia a couple of weeks ago while my CC was being detailed. I was very impressed. Good attention to detail and the ride was comfortable for an SUV. Probably the only domestic SUV I would be interested in.
  12. We are back from LA and the auto show was terrific. We went last Friday and so the crowds were light. However, the bigger thrill was randomly running into an Audi test crew with the upcoming R8 electric (the e-tron). We were driving up the PCH to Santa Barbara, and pulled off at a beachside rest-stop just north of Malibu, where they were sitting with the e-tron and a couple of Q7 TDIs. We were only feet away from it, kept from getting closer by the highway patrol. We have a video of it (to highlight its silence at full uphill throttle), which I'll post as soon as I find it.
  13. It's been a long while since Honda made a car that I could get excited about. That CR-Z is definitely it!
  14. We are headed to the LA Auto show next weekend, and I can't wait to see some of these cars!
  15. The back end of the Forte screams Audi A4 to me. And the interior has a similar look (though not a similar feel).
  16. I know the former Audi design chief moved over to Kia, and that he is responsible for these new hot designs we are seeing, but I guess I'm surprised at just how blantant Kia is in copying the look we see on new Audis. Same guy, yeah, but isn't there some sort of design look-and-feel that becomes the property of the company the designer works for? I guess they can argue they are merely taking "design cues" from Audi, but geez those taillights could have literally come off an A4.
  17. i don't think that is a bad thing, as the current 7-series is pretty attractive. However, I don't like the blunt front end. I know it is to meet pedestrian safety rules, but I just don't think it fits a car of this size (looks better on the 7).
  18. It isn't bad, but it doesn't do a lot for me, at least in this artist's conception.
  19. That's the current gen Mondeo, which is highly regarded in Europe...pretty much the standard for mid-size sedans.
  20. New Buick Regal unveiled: Based on the Opel Insignia, it's pretty nice looking. Keeps the family resemblance to the new LaCrosse, though I'm not wild about the tail or the wheels. http://carscoop.blog...photos-and.html
  21. Definitely like the S60, but I'm not a fan of the Jetta. The tail is attractive, but I don't like the front end, at least compared to the outgoing one. Too generic. Wonder if the new Passat replacement will be as bland?
  22. I'm a CPA, but my background is Excel and corporate-level Oracle solutions...obviously $overkill for a small business. However, you might be well-served posting on this forum: http://www.accounting-and-bookkeeping-tips.com/accounting-forum/index.php I think that Quickbooks has a real estate template, which might be of benefit to you.
  23. Like shape and interior looks great, but the wheel/tire package is way undersized.
  24. VW has designs to become a larger presence in the US (have some very lofty sales goals--the Toyota of Germany?). I sincerely hope that doesn't mean becoming bland and soulless like Toyota, though maybe if they can keep some interest and increase reliability, then it is a fair trade-off.
  25. I like the center stack, very Swedish and minimal, but the rest of it looks like my 07 XC70, which itself is was a 6-year old design when new.
