  1. They are reporting relocation. I hope that's true.
  2. Some worthwhile recognition... "MD Anderson Cancer Center Plans 'Moon Shot' for Cures" ABC News http://abcnews.go.com/Health/Wellness/md-anderson-cancer-center-announces-moon-shot-cure/story?id=17283841 Wall Street Journal http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10000872396390443890304578008562044709472.html Time http://healthland.time.com/2012/09/21/texas-cancer-centers-3-billion-plan-to-defeat-cancer/
  3. Here's one of those list things for your amusement... Not only does Forbes think we're the coolest city (because, of course, Forbes defines cool), but Forbes has named Lower Westheimer as one of the top Hipster Neighborhoods in the U.S. http://www.forbes.com/pictures/mhj45jmeh/20-lower-westheimer-houston-texas-2/#gallerycontent
  4. The house mentioned at the top of this thread has been the subject of litigation on which there was a final ruling last week. http://houston.culturemap.com/newsdetail/08-04-12-appeals-court-rules-against-anthony-petrello-in-5-year-lawsuit-over-home-sale/?fb_action_ids=4321447965533%2C4321440965358%2C4321440005334&fb_action_types=og.likes&fb_source=other_multiline&action_object_map=%7B%224321447965533%22%3A10150209531114406%2C%224321440965358%22%3A10150545621933161%2C%224321440005334%22%3A10151073091727230%7D&action_type_map=%7B%224321447965533%22%3A%22og.likes%22%2C%224321440965358%22%3A%22og.likes%22%2C%224321440005334%22%3A%22og.likes%22%7D&action_ref_map=[]
  5. It looks like the Yale bridge will be replaced http://www.theleadernews.com/a_community/community013.html
  6. It's a cool gallery. It was only in Galveston for about year. That short stint and the offbeat location to which they are moving makes me a bit skeptical about its future fortunes. However, if they rent out for events like many gallleries do, the KB space may be a good choice.
  7. It's regrettable that some medium sized trees were removed from Yale. I have to admit I really had not noticed them. I had to pull them up on Goggle Street View. It's sort of ironic. Ainbinder preserved a lot of trees and natural scape at the Montrose HEB. They built the store in a counterintuitive way - at the Alabama end of the lot, facing south. Having gone to the hearings for that project, I see the difference. With the HEB, the 'hood was engaged. With this project, the 'hood has been entrenched. The polarized views on this project have prevented real community involvement. That has empowered any negligence or malfeasance of which this project is accused. I am sad for those who so long to be right, but fail to see the neighborhood for the trees.
  8. Ah, You're wise. You have shopped at the 11th Street Kroger!
  9. Ugh! DATA! Do you have actual data on people trading their Tuscan manses for Mctorian manses? We also expect data in the Heights. We're rife with attorneys, ya know.
  10. Tsk, Redscare. Those Woodland folk are all about their slab, stucco, brick, Mall, Hummers, and Suburbans. They just don't get our pier-beam, clapboard, Hardiplank, shops on 19th, Priuses, and Subarus. Also, we live near Downtown. And we live at least 10 blocks from poor people. What's wrong with those...people? Edit: Oh, by "those people" I didn't mean poor people. I meant those Woodlander suburbanites. [Hiss of a feral cat].
  11. So, Organization's standing is an issue. What gives an organization standing? Is Plaintiff's other argument valid?
  12. Redscare: Setting aside your concerns for plaintiff's counsel, can you be more specific on the standing issue?
  13. I would like some legal clarity on this. RUDH has filed a lawsuit to determine if the City of Houston has acted within the law. Shouldn't RUDH be seeking the Attorney General's opinion? Maybe they expect that this is going to be kicked out on appeal and they'll have their day with the Supremes (without Donna Summer, of course). Attorneys of all opinions on the issue, please enlighten us.
  14. {Bump} with new info... HBJ (secured content) is reporting that this should begin construction in October and launch in December. Isaac Preminger is designing it. The developers are also planning a quick-serve, coal-fired pizza joint in the small house on the property which will also feature 100 wines and beers. They've hired Aldo Cantiana (former owner of La Strada) as the operations manager.
  15. Food Truck Park proposed for W. 14th and Shepherd. http://blog.chron.com/primeproperty/2011/09/food-truck-park-without-the-wheels/ This is the lot What's Up Cupcake parked in for a while. The developers also may be able to leverage that this lot is in Heights Annex which is a wet zone.
