1. good post! got to see a lil of the zaza interior. i didn't even notice cynthia hunt in the pics till i saw musicamans post saying he saw the pic. so i went back through the pics. she's pic 36 by the way for those who passed it up like me, which will be pretty easy as she was nothing to really look at in the pic.
2. the tunnel flooding issue is very true. when it rains alot another place that is known for flooding is in front of the college of architecture building. everytime it would flood we would build boats and try to float on them, LOL i'm a u of h grad and well u of h isn't anything compared to rice. that's like comparing oranges to apples, lol. u of h students would go to the rice campus to look at their architecture and how the planning of pedestrian traffic was layed out for learning purposes. u of h has a large amount of students and are always looking for ways to promote themselves to attract even more students, and i wouldn't be surprised when they meet that goal of 45k students.
3. i KNOW that. i'm simply using it as a reference location http://www.martinipark.com/index_frames.html
4. i'm surprised no one has mentioned Martini Park. They will be next to Lord & Taylor. Apparently Martini Park is doing VERY well in their Plano location. I think they'll do just as well here....
5. the few ppl that i know that live in the montebello don't mind the galleria, although they do favor uptown park 1&2. the reason they don't shop at the galleria is because they are wealthy enough to get the real stuff during their "travels" through France, Germany, etc and just buy the stuff there or have it shipped. it's crazy what they'll have shipped to their house.
6. lol, i don't even know if this person is still on this board, but for others that are interested. one can't just go into the montebello. u have to have clearance, security clearance that is. montebello is very protective of their residence which is due to the price the residents pay there. just call the office up there tell them ur interested in looking and they will be able to work something out with you. however, if u just want to go and look as in tour wise and not to buy, then more than likely they may just let u see the driveway and lobby, LOL. i worked on several units in there so i know the entrance security and the guy at the desk so i would just wave hello at them and they would let me in w/o question, but once i took several ppl to see one of the units i was working on and we went in several cars, the other guys got there first and boy do the security give them a hassle they even started writing down her licence plate number, LOL but for any of u with some cash montebello is VERY NICE!! i wish i could afford to live there
7. that's exactly how i am, LOL the apt. i had was 880 sq. ft. if i were to buy that around here the price would be in the 1k's. plus i dont mind the commute i'm in love with my car so i enjoy getting in it and driving, lol
8. so has anyone gone to visit this hotel? it's ok. there is no kitchen in this hotel as it's kind of expected for you to order from nearby venues in uptown park, but they have a relationship with them so if u want to order something they can bring it for you, which i think is pretty cool the units are spacious, and the closets are HUGE, lol. which would make sence since it is a hotel. however, i don't really like the millwork that is being used. fixtures are decent also. the 'kitchen' area has a sink and microwave, that's laid out nicely. if u get one of the inner rooms facing inward to the unit u can see the pool, which is pretty big! the millwork and columns are all faux. i wasn't all impressed, but it's not bad either maybe later on they'll do some sort of covered parking???????
9. i don't even remember where it was located, lol. i think b4 it was named bongos it was a lady's name that started with an 'L'. anyway that place was cool, it always had a band playing called mango punch. ahhhh yes, good times..good times, lol.
10. ok this is going a bit off topic, but since i asked about sambucca's i might as well ask about bongo's is that still up and running or has that been shut down??
11. yeah, it actually comes out about the same. but then i hear that it starts off at 350 so not too sure. just pass by their office, nice ppl...plus u can look at the model they have on display do u plan on purchasing this for u?? u wouldn't happen to know peeps at the montebello would u??
12. lol, probably. but the good news for u jamba juice fans is that jamba juice will be coming back to that location in the new building. regarding river oaks theatre, granted that was in Weingarten's plan to demo, but i HIGLY doubt that's going to happen. especially now. if i'm not mistaken i think a bill was passed that before demoing historiic buildings proposals will have to go b4 a committe and well we all know a committee will not approve such a thing. this is y the project is no longer called phase 1, phase 2.
13. what a friend LOL, j/k y doesn't anyone go to sambucca's?? i haven't been in that area of downtown in a while so i don't even know if it's still there, but that place was still decent when i last went.
14. are u referring to picketing to keep the black eyed pea area untouched or the river oaks theatre? the river oaks theatre wont be touched....
15. who really cares....i'll have to agree w/ the person that posted that this isn't a problem. clubs suck and i can say this since i always went clubbin throught college and even early in my career, and no i didn't go to bars i went to CLUBS and all kinds ranging from hip hop, country, tejano, dance/house to salsa, and just to show my range of places i've been i even made the mistake of going to the Roxy what happens is. a new club opens everyone goes to it for a while as it's the new hot spot. since it's new it's nice, clean, not too ghetto, then after time the club literally turns ghetto!! closes down and a new one pops up. who cares, downtown will keep doing this turnover club routine.........
16. not sure if anyone really knows cost. i personally worked on some of the floor plans at my old job and know that they were starting off at around 300/sq ft. you might want to go to the sales trailor, it's on post oak. or give them a call here is the website that contains the contact info. http://www.cosmopolitanhouston.com/ edit: haha my bad i said 300/sq ft. dont know what i was thinking...300k
17. unfortunately no, none of the trees could really be saved due to the amount of parking needed for this project. if you were to keep trees that would be difficult since trees are random, and this has a planned layout for parking, etc. plus this is all tilt wall so you need to have easy access for the cranes to lift up these panels. in uptown park phase 2 this was a minor issue due to distance of the buildings to the back fence and power lines. however, in phase 2 there was this old oak tree that borlingi wanted to save and it did get saved.
18. LOL, well the source that told me this said that from what he knows it is going to be approved to become a hotel. he said it still has some stuff to go through or what not, but he was pretty confident it saying it would happen. i don't know all the politics of this, but he does especially with his line of work. plus he's been proven reliable in other things he's shared with me. anyway, since this was verbally told to me i did a quick search myself online to see what i could find and this is what i came across. hope i can paste this correctly...

19. ok, so i heard today that it IS going to be a hotel.....
20. i hear that when black eyed pea etc is demo'd that they plan to use the empty lot as parking for Christmas. talk about not losing any money, lol
21. only if i get my 5 sec. worth of fame, lol oh no, they are going to move forward, i just meant the design itself was on hold cuz the design itself of the tenant's space didn't pass, which is a good thing cuz it was pretty ugly...
