  1. Are you sure it wasn't talk about this other possible hotel, in addition to the proposed Embassy Suites?
  2. Here's an ad for a condo tower that went nowhere. It was placed in an October 1981 issue of the Houston Post, but I've only come across it that one time. The address is also where another condo tower of similar height was supposed to have been built several years ago, but I'd guess it's long since dead as well. There's a rendering I should dig up of a very interesting looking project that was pitched around the same time that would've been located between Town & Country and the hospital at Memorial City called "Resource Center/Houston". It was designed by 3D/I and was to have included a 16-story hotel and office buildings of 26, 36 and 46 stories.
  3. For clarification's sake, I thought that 6 Houston Center was supposed to be on the block (San Jacinto/Caroline/Walker/Rusk) surrounded by the Melrose Building, The old Federal Reserve building, 1 Houston Center & one of the HC Garages... Also, the domain 6houstoncenter.com has been reserved by the firm that has designed the websites of Crescent's other properties.
  4. Cool, looks like they're moving forward on the Legacy at Memorial highrise, which is supposed to be a 25 story apartment tower. The one around Memorial & Waugh, I think is a project by Gables Residential called Memorial Hills. I drove by it on New Year's day and I saw the crane in a relatively decent sized excavation area. 4200 block of Scotland St or so?
  5. I think you might be talking about Metropolitan Park. Pretty interesting plan for North Beaumont, since most of that is pretty much suburban and strip center territory where it is already developed. Lots of free land in that part of town though. At least it's not closer to the mall... The traffic around Dowlen & the Eastex Fwy is brutal most of the day from what I've encountered.
  6. Proposals for 1500 Smith Street, the Gateway Site & the possible Allen Center Garage tower are listed on Brookfield's site here: http://www.brookfieldproperties.com/proper...development.cfm Crescent doesn't have anything listed on their website, but it was mentioned in the MainPlace article...
  7. I think we're going off the original 4 proposals mentioned in the article from last August that announced MainPlace. They were mentioned near the end of the piece in addition to this map. I recall Brookfield may have had two buildings planned on the west side of DT though...
  8. A bit of a different angle of the rendering in today's ad in the paper...
  9. Even more coming in to fill the space around the Phase II portion, with new signs up. These include... *Springhill Suites by Marriott *A Garden-style apartment complex *Taco Bell
  10. If it's the big, vacant piece with Spectra's building on the north side and the CVS on the east side at the intersection then that would be it.
  11. It was in the business section of yesterday's paper http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/busine...ff/5362493.html
  12. Some photos from this afternoon, looks like the part closest to the foreground of the first demolition pic was the first to go
  13. A few photos from this afternoon, looks like they've moved on to taking apart the Montagu as well... And a couple of the New West building
  14. About 2 months ago, I posted a block by block look at the overall site as I walked along Polk Street, and shot from the top floor of the Main Garage (Now renamed Pavilions Parking Garage). Here's a bit of an update, with photos taken on Friday (12/7). I tried to shoot from some of the same locations, but was a bit pressed for time. 15. There was a similar looking (perhaps the same?) shrimp located along 90A along the Brazos River in Richmond at a seafood restaurant there. The restaurant itself has been closed for a while I think and the shrimp may have been removed at around the same time a few years ago. I'll keep an eye out anyway.
  16. A look at the blocks involved, taken today... Allen Pkwy/Dunlavy/W. Dallas/Tirrell East View South View W. Dallas/Dunlavy/W. Clay East View Up Dunlavy A remaining portion of the Allen House Apartments on the W.Dallas/Rosine/W.Clay/Dunlavy Block
  17. This article should become entirely viewable within a few days, but to hit what is known at the moment... This building is slated to be 275k-300k Square feet (I'd guess 12-15 floors?) and should begin construction in Spring of 2008 within Eldridge Place, a pair of office buildings 12 & 14 stories tall. The article made the developer, Behringer Harvard Real Estate Investments, seem tight-lipped as there was little else to be mentioned at the moment. More should be forthcoming when the project gets underway.
  18. I posted a few photos in the MainPlace thread about 2 weeks ago. Here's the post-specific link
  19. There isn't a sales center in that strip, or the other one across Woodway. The one across from both along Voss is completely vacant, and I assume where the Sterling tower would be located. I was out that way about an hour ago, so unless it was in really small letters or only in a window... I don't think it's there anymore.
