  1. that would be pretty close to Pink's... Kinkaid - happen to remember the name of the pizza place?
  2. From Braun's site: http://braunenterprises.com/?q=Property/PropertyDetail&id=e21175f9-1fdc-6014-7190-51bb41fe3806
  3. I saw a variance sign on that building yesterday. And the paint store is moving too, so that's all the tenants. Variance: "Braun Subdivision Purpose of the variance request Chapter 42 Division 3 Building Line(s) and visibility triangle(s). Proposed land use for the site: Commercial Use" hearing 7/25 at 2:30
  4. I took the puddle hopper from Ellington to IAH several times, I believe service ended in 2003. Several of us at Boeing/NASA wrote letters to Continental, stating we would pay higher fares (often EFD-IAH-LAX was the same price as IAH-LAX) since parking was free, no POV mileage to pay, time saved etc for NASA. I think the reasoning was cost of operations out of EFD made it not worth it to Continental. I loved it, you show up 20 minutes before your flight, park right there, go through security and you're at IAH 30 minutes later and already at your gate.
  5. I'd take the train and carry whatever i had to if it could get me to east beach, AND i could take my dog. but the latter would never happen, so I'll be driving. the main reason I would love to take a train if I could would be to drink (more) while I'm on the beach.
  6. its the airline code for Southwest (WN) United is UA, etc.
  7. they must have been claiming that number with Star Alliance as a whole. From airchina.com:
  8. I didn't see this any where: http://www.29-95.com/restaurants/story/chef-kevin-bryant-head-new-seafood-restaurant-montrose-neighborhood New seafood-centric, high end place coming to the old Biba's location at 607 W Gray.
  9. Looks like some work is being done on the new Art Annex building, just clearing things out. First activity I've seen since the school opened.
  10. They said they would be putting together a printed drink menu with options soon.
  11. Checked this place out last weekend. Decent crowd on Friday night, good drinks. Kept the historic building in tact, straightforward simple tables and a bar. 4 different charities you can vote for when you buy a drink. We'll see if they are public about how much, if any, they donate at the end of the month (I would think there is a high chance they wouldn't be profitable the first month).
  12. If that's what did it, that's really sad. There is plenty of parking on side streets a few blocks away. Every time I've been on the weekdays they have had a good crowd (small but the place is small). Its never empty. This was good quality unique food, sad to see it go...
  13. ah ok thanks. I didn't realize it would be going across the Bayou but makes sense. thanks
  14. rode by today along the north side of buffalo bayou, the construction i was referring to is between Capitol and Rusk. snapped some pics: The last pic is looking up from the north bank (facing NW), you can see the edge of the Capitol bridge on the top right. Is this going to be a vehicle bridge? Doesn't make any sense...
  15. honestly it almost looked like they were building a dam. I have no idea what it was, but it is at the water level, not like the bike/ped bridge just south. and it appeared to be a pretty big project. agree on the UH Downtown area. Or at the least i hope they build a good way to even get to the north side of the trail. Right now i cut over to Travis and go on the sidewalk (since its one way the wrong way). Even when Main is done that's not a great way on a bike.
  16. Many of the trails are repaved, its looking good and being utilized heavily. I saw some construction on the bayou by downtown, not sure if its part of the Master Plan (they don't show anything east of the Sabine Street bridge in an renderings I've seen). It appears they are building some sort of bridge or structure at bayou level, very close to where Capitol/Rusk/45 goes over the bayou. I didn't have my phone on me but next time I'll take a pic. Anyone know what's going on over there?
  17. I walked in to the school yesterday, they were cleaning up, getting classrooms ready, etc. they let us walk around, looks really nice. snapped some pics on my phone: center courtyard: cafeteria/gym: chem lab: rooftop garden: library facing w gray: parking rooftop/tennis courts: future baseball field i think?
  18. looks like a good site for a paintball match!
  19. The rooftop garden is on the roof of the main building. the tennis courts are on the roof of the parking garage.
  20. the parking structure is mostly complete. there are about 100 spaces down, and another 100 up. I wonder if this will be a shared garage for students as well? No where else to park... I know they provided buses from all over the district but I assume they allow commuting students as well... Edit: looked at the original rendering which had 166 spots for students and 60 for faculty, the garage probably covers that. Anyways, on the roof there are yellow lines painted for parking and white lines painted for three tennis courts. They have the holes in place for where the nets will go and good lighting it appears. of course there will be 0 spots for parking when the courts are in use. I guess they will be for practice in the evenings and weekends. Also they will have to put a fence up otherwise there will be a lot of balls going over the edge.
  21. to add to that, the Cup was played in Home Depot center (LA) which they own, chosen before the season started (Super Bowl style). so yes, win-win-win for AEG.
  22. AEG owns 50%, Oscar De La Hoya owns 25%, and Gabriel Brener owns the other 25%. AEG solely owns the LA Galaxy. MLS doesn't like that they have interest in two teams, that especially came up during the MLS Cup last year which was Dynamo vs Galaxy. From the Dynamo site:
  23. this is the 2nd time i read this thread title and thought Star Pizza was coming. At least its been a year since I made the mistake...
