Development and Individual Lot Open Space provided yields 15-25% on average. This project is designed to promote views in/out of site, pedestrian walkability, community connectivity, historic preservation, and high quality residential housing. 4. Topic is a few weeks old. Panattoni Development Company’s July acquisition of 125 acres at North Gessner Road and Beltway 8 is projected to potentially attract Fortune 500 companies. Todd King, Panattoni Development Company partner, said the location is ideal with its access to Houston’s freeway system and employee population. “That’s the bulls-eye for the industrial tenant user interest,” King said. “The infrastructure is there for what companies are looking for in terms of transportation and also as what I’d characterize as employment infrastructure.” King said the large master-planned communities such as Bridgeland and Fairfield feeding into Hwy. 290 will continue to complement the growth of company and land development. King said the NorthWest acquisition is one of the most important land development and design for industrial users in the Cypress area. Designated as the Beltway Crossing NorthWest development, the location can accommodate built-to-suit and speculative projects. King said the strategy of the acquisition is to provide a premier distribution center in Cypress. Panattoni Development is in deliberations with prospective companies, but King could not comment on which companies. The joint venture with LaSalle Investment was fast tracked in a two-month deliberation process earlier this year, King said. With the acquisition final in July, the distribution park is expected to handle multiple users of 500,000 square-feet. King said construction on the three 650,000-square-foot buildings is expected to be complete in spring 2014. 9. IBM announced Wednesday it will establish a first-of-its-kind software development center at the former site of The Advocate, a move that will create 800 jobs and be a “transformational” project for downtown Baton Rouge. The company’s Domestic Delivery Center will be the centerpiece of a $55 million riverfront office-residential complex on Lafayette Street, bordered by North and Main streets and River Road. An 11-story residential tower, with 95 apartments and nine luxury townhomes, also will be part of the development. The eight-story IBM building is set for completion by spring 2015, while the residential section should open a few months later. 10. Very unique and quaint bistro in the Champion Forest area. Worth checking out! Noticed they were featured in the Houston Press too... http://blogs.houstonpress.com/eating/2012/11/first_look_at_ba_mien_bistro_i.php
  11. Margo, if you had children I recommend that you raised them in the prestigious neighborhood, The Woodlands. FM 1960 has no value... couldn't agree more. In time the mansions in Champion Forest and Northgate will be invaded and value will be WAY below market value. I keep hearing that it resembles Greenspoint from common everyday people. Everyone is rushing to The Woodlands. You should hurry before they run out of inventory. The Woodlands is quite the investment I hear. This information is only leaked to people who specialize in real estate. Just a pointer... Good luck!
  12. The Commons at Willowbrook is undergoing a $12 million renovation, and will soon be anchored by a new big box tenant. More at: http://impactnews.com/articles/commons-at-willowbrook-breaks-ground-on-%2412-million-renovation-project/index.html
  13. H&M appears headed to Willowbrook Mall... Until Houston gets its own H&M, no trip to Dallas is complete without a shopping stop at NorthPark Center, currently one of two spots in Texas for an H&M fix. The other H&M opened in November at Town East Mall in the Dallas/Mesquite area. Inquiring minds wanted to know — again — just when an H&M will be putting down stakes in Houston. So when I was in Big D last weekend to see my beloved Houston Cougars whip up on Penn State in the TicketCity Bowl, a store manager confirmed a location is going in at Willowbrook Mall in the spring. more at: http://houston.culturemap.com/newsdetail/01-04-12-00-00-hm-sets-sites-on-willowbrook-mall-but-until-it-opens-heres-a-shirtles-david-beckham/
  14. NORTHWEST HOUSTON — A new 172-room Hilton Garden Inn is set to open in Northwest Houston in September 2012 at 14919 Hwy. 290, just east of Beltway 8. More at: http://impactnews.com/northwest-houston/335-recent-news/15716-construction-underway-on-new-hilton-garden-inn-off-hwy-290-
  15. The Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce is partnering with local arts organizations, businesses and environmental groups to put on CreekFest, a new community-centered festival Oct. 8. “The reason CreekFest was developed is because we now have some tremendous amenities in our community, and it was about time we showed them off,” said Barbara Thomason, president of the Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce. The festival, which is free to the public, allows attendees to learn more about local art, culture and environmental causes. “It seemed appropriate that we created an event to put the spotlight on the arts and the out-of-door amenities,” Thomason said. “We hope [everyone that comes] gets an appreciation of their community.” more at: http://impactnews.com/northwest-houston/335-recent-news/15079-creekfest-promotes-local-art-and-environment
  16. I call it the WillowCrook area now. I love this: Gunspoint = Greenspoint Willowcrook = Willowbrook The Hoodlands = The Woodlands Burglarland = Sugarland A name for everything... Again, it's a phase an area have to face. I can't wait for this area to rise again. The pilgrims know... this area is very populated and continues to boom no matter what they all say... all in time. :-)
  17. Anyone know why they are clearing land south of Willowbrook Mall?
  18. Jersey Village is a great area to live. Big lots as mentioned... Huge trees on some lots. Great public schools if needed. The police there are so strict but it really makes the community feel safe and looked after. Correct the flooding issues are being worked on as we write/blog... Great location (not too far from the city yet not too far from the country). The back of Jersey Village is connected to Jones Rd. near FM 1960/Cypress Creek Parkway which is a plus. Everything you need is there. Jersey Village reminds me of the older Bellaire. Eventually the older homes will probably be torn down and be replaced with bigger homes... great place to invest especially now. Just my thoughts.
  19. Burger Girl is replacing the former Ruby Tuesdays (SH 249). Burger Girl is originally from DALLAS.
  20. Noticed that Cypress Creek Parkway signs were up along with the FM 1960 ones. When are the trees or plants going in?
  21. This is such a great idea! The area is in need of something like this. I'm glad people actually see Greenspoint's potential. Beautiful trees and lots of land available, close proximity to the airport, highrises, etc... I can't wait for its completion...
  22. "The plan is to add 2 free standing restaurants next to a 25,000 home furnishings merchant that I can’t announce yet." Anyone know of any neat restaurants that you would like to see in the area? I would put out a request a.s.a.p.!!
  23. "Lavo Collections" is a Boutique with quality but affordable. We carry trendy apparel ... of accessories...Our 2nd location will be open November 2010 in WillowBrook Mall Lavo currently has a store at the Village Arcade.
  24. It looks like Willowbrook mall is finally redeveloping that land that used to be Lord & Taylor. There is a sign with renderings of an outdoor plan and a phone number for restaurant leasing information. Does anyone have any more information about this redevelopment?
  25. Boston, The Gourmet Pizza. A pizza chain... Still better than dead space.
