  1. H&M appears headed to Willowbrook Mall...

    Until Houston gets its own H&M, no trip to Dallas is complete without a shopping stop at NorthPark Center, currently one of two spots in Texas for an H&M fix. The other H&M opened in November at Town East Mall in the Dallas/Mesquite area.

    Inquiring minds wanted to know — again — just when an H&M will be putting down stakes in Houston. So when I was in Big D last weekend to see my beloved Houston Cougars whip up on Penn State in the TicketCity Bowl, a store manager confirmed a location is going in at Willowbrook Mall in the spring.

  2. I call it the WillowCrook area now.

    I love this:

    Gunspoint = Greenspoint

    Willowcrook = Willowbrook

    The Hoodlands = The Woodlands

    Burglarland = Sugarland

    A name for everything... Again, it's a phase an area have to face. I can't wait for this area to rise again. The pilgrims know... this area is very populated and continues to boom no matter what they all say... all in time. :-)

  3. "The plan is to add 2 free standing restaurants next to a 25,000 home furnishings merchant that I can’t announce yet."

    Anyone know of any neat restaurants that you would like to see in the area? I would put out a request a.s.a.p.!!

  4. It looks like Willowbrook mall is finally redeveloping that land that used to be Lord & Taylor. There is a sign with renderings of an outdoor plan and a phone number for restaurant leasing information. Does anyone have any more information about this redevelopment?

  5. New Leadership for Willowbrook Mall...

    A Houston native is calling Willowbrook home and bringing new ideas to the table.

    Willowbrook’s owner, General Growth Properties has recently replaced former mall manager, Walt Plonski, with new manager Brenda Crawford. Noticed that Bailey, Banks, and Biddle is leaving the mall...

  6. They need to update their website... Anthropologie is about to open... Had I not gone to the "centre" I would not know of this. Yes, that makes three for the Houston area!

    We ate at Pronto in City Centre and found it very good, a nice reasonably priced place. Also Studio Movie Grill here is very good. Cant wait for Brio and others to complete and open. The Fire and Water landscape in front of the new hotel Sorella I believe is very nice also. This area is going to be awesome if it can deliver on its plan concepts in this tough market.

  7. Frankly, I'm surprised that Greenspoint Mall has lasted this long. Oftentimes, once a major crime happens, the mall goes way downhill, often completes some great remodel but can't be saved, and the whole thing is razed. Look at Mall of Memphis (Dead Malls.com) or Pinellas Square Mall (later ParkSide Mall)...two malls that could not be saved...both had functional ice rinks at death.

    What saved Greenspoint Mall is the fact that it fulfills the "urban mall" niche: it survives by luring nearby office workers into its food court. The situation at Greenspoint won't worsen unless more violent crimes happen.

    I agree that the mall is surviving because of nearby office workers. Although Memorial City Mall was saved by the great remodel. I also think the reason why Greenspoint didn't make it was because of the surrounding neighborhoods. There aren't any. It's mostly apartments. The neighborhoods that are there are not so great. On the other hand Memorial is surrounded by Memorial and their villages and spring branch. Whatever happen to Greenspoint's remodeling plan? I guess it's not happening after all.

  8. :lol: I agree. By far, Willowbrook Mall is one of the better malls Houston has to offer. I've been to them all literally... Of course we could use some better retailers...

    Okay, I know the mall gets a bad rap but I went there Sunday on my hunt for a new Macbook. I have to say, I was impressed. No armed gunmen jumped me, I guess the roving heards of pirates and thug must have been sleeping or maybe they're off on Sundays, but no one hijacked me or hit me on the head ...even as I walked around the mall and to my car with about $2k of new Apple goodness.
  9. I drove by yesterday. Mia bella has already started building, but it doesn't look like it will be open anytime soon. Pizza fusion is open though.

    Mia Bella was supposed to have opened in December. Does anyone know what the latest on it is?

    Also, Peli Peli is supposed to open early 2009. Does anyone have the lasted on that? I am looking forward to trying both of those. Peli Peli particularly sounds interesting.

  10. if a fight breaks out at the Woodlands? What do you do next? leaving areas at the first sign of trouble starts white flight all over again...last thing we need in Houston once again

    I completely agree. Just another way to kill a mall.
