  1. We gave Ref's a shot a couple of weeks ago, and were not impressed. Our table was dirty when they sat us, and when we requested another table, they took us to ANOTHER dirty table. They were not very busy, so they could've cleaned up. Another disappointment was the fact they covered their pretty hardwood tables with cheap black tablecloths (which are basically glued to the tables). The only reason this irked us, is that the tables are made of recycled basketball court... perfect for a sports bar! It seems like there are some bugs to work out, and I wish them the best. Vintage Park needs to keep all the tenants they can!
  2. Rumor has it that a locally owned retailer is using that space for a new specialty foods/deli/wine shop. I think it will be a welcome addition to that area, and certainly an added benefit for the residents of that building.
  3. I heard they will try to be open in the next week or two. Most of the construction work is complete, and they've gone as far as stocking the bars, so it shouldn't be long.
  4. I hope it is full-service. The Bubbles is simply an Express location, and though convenient, it would be nice to have someone clean the inside too.
  5. I can't quite tell how elaborate it will be (full detail or self-service). The slab/parking area looks fairly large, but it may just be a cheapo, get-out-and-spray-it-off kind of place.
  6. Yes, like the Vintage Car Wash (seriously ), going in across from the Vintage Royale neighborhood.
  7. New rumored tenant is Wacky Mongolian Grill. Interesting. Maybe we can just fill the whole place with restaurants.
  8. Overall, the Houston economy is in much, much better shape than the rest of the country. In my business, which deals with the retail and restaurant industries, we're seeing our vendors from around the country all wanting to come work the Houston market for a while. Things are slow everywhere else, but seem to be chugging along here in Texas. For now at least, Houston is the best place to be!
  9. Does anyone know how their first Movie in the Park night went? They're planning on doing this once a month, and hopefully it will encourage more activity at this property. I know the car show last month was a mad house! The few businesses that were open at the time really cleaned up that day!
  10. I didn't realize they were putting Cutten all the way through. Not good news for those living on Cutten in Majestic Oaks.
  11. Maybe, because it looks like Mission Burrito has pulled the plug.
  12. No, the area in question is directly behind the Vintage Park sign that is on the corner of 249 & Louetta (facing NW). The lot backs up to the HEB Fuel/Car Wash area, so it surely can't be a gas station. However, the lot doesn't look big enough to hold much else. Maybe a fast food joint? Maybe more pumps for HEB? If you go the site plan online, it would be the space in the far top left corner that is directly behind "sign". http://www.vintageparkhouston.com/siteplan...teplan=siteplan
  13. They are still planning on opening in November 2008.
  14. This helps explain why my cousin, who is a Cy-Fair coach, berates me for having my child in private school because "their sports programs aren't as good as they good be." Oh well, I guess she will never play pro football now.
  15. I'd love to know who's moving in. We are going to sell our house soon and new employees looking to move to the area would be great.
  16. Their corporate office has confirmed their intentions to open in this space, also saying they want to put a rush on it to open ASAP.
  17. I drove through the property today and see there is a lot of activity going on as far as building out spaces. Cheeburger Cheeburger opened today (July 22). They've also added more businesses to the site plan, which FINALLY includes a few retail shops (albeit unknown ones). -Yaya Clothing -Tot Shop -Signature Electronics -Tickled Pink -Marilyn Clyde (no idea what this is) -Luminary Gems -2 "Women's Accessories" stores -Playtime for Kids ??? Also new are some more places to eat. -Fresh Berry (yogurt) -"Ice Cream" (which seems redundant) -"Asian Restaurant" (also redundant) -Mission Burrito
  18. I can agree with this to a point. However, Market Street and Uptown park are always busy.
  19. The outlet mall is 20 minutes or more from Vintage Park.
  20. I know it's highly unlikely, as they are suffering their own struggles right now, but a Barnes & Noble or Borders would be fantastic. As an avid reader and parent, we shop at bookstores very regularly and the closest one is at 1960 & Champion Forest. It's not an extremely long distance, but it's not quick to get there during high traffic times. Additionally, some apparel retailers that generally like these types of centers would be good. Examples would be White House Black Market, Talbots, JoS. A. Bank, Francesca's, etc. It would be nice, as originally planned, to have a higher end home decor store. I know there were rumors of a Crate & Barrel in the beginning, which would have been a hit, but something like Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, or Z Gallerie would be a very welcomed addition. None of these retailers have a store anywhere between Market Street & Highland Village. I know the economy is sluggish right now, and this all created a 'perfect storm', but it seems to me that the leasing team on this project is phenomenally underperforming. They need to get out there and basically beg and plead to get some quality businesses in here. I'm a darn good salesperson, maybe I should go work there and fight for the quality tenants. The plan is still for a 'Grand Opening' celebration some time in October. Let's hope it's not still mostly vacant at that point!

  22. I think the reason there was some excitement for the center is the fact there is NOWHERE for shopping or dining in this area, especially when this started 2 years ago. I live basically across the street from Vintage Park, and until very recently there were virtually no restaurants, except Los Cucos, in our area. If we wanted anything but Tex-Mex, we had to drive up to 1960 to find it. As far as retail shopping goes, good luck locating anything from at least Champion Forest beyond HP. There aren't any stores I can run in to pick up a quick gift or clothing item, unless it's at Target. There are plenty of upper-middle class families living in close proximity. I see no reason for them to avoid shopping/dining with the tenants of Vintage Park. Oh wait..... there aren't any!!
  23. Trio has the same owner as Mia Bella (and Coco's). I guess they offered him quite a discount to lease so much space.
  24. Ohhh... it's all organic. That explains why the Surf & Turf pizza is $48!!!
