I think this weekend I will make some poster signs and go have a Pro-Ashby celebration on the sidewalk. I'll bring a video camera to get the license plates of people who yell obscene things at me.
I think I will do the same thing when the Heights Walmart opens.

Denver got him. Glad the Titans didn't because if he is 100% then the Texans would be in trouble. Heck even less then 100% he's better then most quarterbacks.
-
I'd say he's going to the Titans. His wife is from there, he went to college there and Bud Adams is offering him the moon. Denver has a chance as well.
That's a likely scenario. If they get Manning and Chris Myers the Texans may be in trouble next year.

I agree Peyton was the Colts but I don't want to see the Texans in the same predicament where they spend all their money on one player. At least when Schaub went down we still had a real good team, just not a Superbowl contender.
-
I'm with RedScare on that one. All the Texans need to get to the Superbowl is a healthy starting quarterback. I would hate for them to trade away half the team to get Manning, which is what it would take.

Went yesterday (Thursday). Got there early enough to get a table. Love this place. Great ambiance, great food, great beer. What more could you ask for?
I really didn't think I would like the pig ears but they proved to be very addicting. Hamburger was also one of the best I have had. They cut and grind their own meat so it's always fresh.
Look closely at the bricks surrounding the manhole cover built into the wall. They are old city street bricks that were pulled up while excavating the new Dynamo stadium.
Loved their water bottles. Big King Cobra malt liquor bottles.
ps. Underbelly is having a soft opening this week. Official opening is scheduled for next Monday. Did not eat there but took a tour and I'm sure it's also going to be incredible. Their wine bar is open for business now.

Has Scott gone heavy metal on us?

Ate at Gloria's while in the DFW area this last weekend. I give it two thumbs up. It's kind of like a combination of Churrascos and Pappasitos. Margarita's were muy bien. At the one we dined they clear the tables out at 10 and have Salsa dancing. Don't know if the Houston location will do the same. Looking forward to it coming here. Nice to have something just a little different from all the regular TexMex places.

I thought 2001 was at the Windsor, not the Village
PS - thanks for the El Patio answer, indeed that was it.

I think your right. I might have been a little "altered" when I saw that movie.

El Patio is correct and the Village theater was still open. I saw The Exorcist there in 1973.

LOL. That's where I saw the Exorcist also. And Kubrick's 2001 and many others I'm sure. But those two stand out.

Hard to believe people in mid town will flock to a mediocre mexican restaurant like Cyclone Anaya's but not patronize XX. Might as well live in the suburbs where chain restaurants rule.

Wow. The website does say they are moving. Hope they stay in the general area if that's the case.

I believe they are enlarging the place, which would be good because the old place had very limited seating.

Great pic. Gotta love those tailfins.

They definitely need to do something to win back the fans. This is a start.

Cactus brings back many memories of waiting in line for a day or two for concert tickets.... when they were sold the old fasioned way.... you waited in line and bought them.... no rigged system.... no instant scalping or holding back....... for like $8-10 a show.

That was the good old days. I remember spending many nights to be in line early for tickets at Cactus or the venue halls. No "special" fees back them either. I just recently purchased a pair of tickets for the Hendrix Experience show and was charged for a ticket convenience fee ($14), facility fee ($5) and a delivery fee ($3.50). I paid less then that when I saw Hendrix himself.

Can they beat the Ravens? Who knows? Right now I'm just relishing a great playoff victory. It's been a long wait.

For those that cannot make it down there, here's a link for a live stream of the implosion.

Yeah. The Astros refused to have anything to do with the Sugar Land Skeeters. They would surely fight a team located right down the street.

It's ironic because ultimately Bellaire realized that it needed to increase its tax base rather than stay stagnant... but by then it was too late to reverse that sale...
Very true. Of course Bellaire was a different town back then. Still mostly blue collar and despite being surrounded by Houston it still had a small town feel. They were afraid to progress then. It's a whole different make-up today although still stagnant in growth.

You have to remember the history of the property. Marion and the Catholic Convent was originally sold to a developer in the 70's that wanted to tear everything down and build a second Galleria type shopping center. Despite the fact that the development would have brought in a whole lot of needed tax money the good citizens of Bellaire were worried about the traffic congestion and what-not and blocked his repeated attempts to develop the block. Finally as a way to get back at the city he sold the property to Episcopal (at a great loss from what I heard) so the city would end up with a large trac of land they had to provide services for but not be able to tax. Episcopal just happened to be in the right place at the right time.

That did bring back some memories. It was a great place when it opened but as the Alief area went downhill, so did Fame City.
