That was it. My Mom used to work there when I was a kid. Knew Leonard Wells from there. Later opened his own men's store in the Galleria area (Fowler and Wells).

Meyerland Plaza: Shopping Center At 4700 Beechnut St.
Fringe replied to VicMan's topic in Katy and Points West
Ha. Although that would be nice I'm sure the last thing developers are worried about is keeping your car dry. -
Saw Quicksilver at the Coliseum Feb 23, 1970 and June 6, 1971. Saw Jethro Tull at the Village Catacombs, I believe in 1970.

Auntie Pasto's is supposedly in the works of building a new restaurant directly behind the existing one.

I don't think Bellaire residents would go for a mini-mall. They rejected that in the 80's where the Episcopal school sits. Residential would be nice although not sure anyone could afford to develop it. No matter what they do the city is going to loose big on taxes. Especially if HISD grabs it. The last thing they need is another non-taxable entity in a city that is already full of churches and schools.

Wow. I did not realize this project required tearing down half the stadium.

They should at least be able to complete the field portion, then put up a temporary wall while they complete the rest. At least you would think.

Innes might make for a good political talk show host like Hannity because he's controversial but he know's nothing about sports, especially compared to Pallilo.

It is very disappointing they cannot beat the Rangers. I mean the beck with winning a world series, the silver boot is all that matters. I'm afraid Stro's just don't have the pitching this year to compete against the top clubs.

I agree. They want a team that can sell tickets. Rice is lucky if 10,000 people attend one of their games. I will say with the new football complex Rice might be able to attract better players. Only problem Rice will insist they're players be able to read and write which puts them at a huge disadvantage with major schools in big conferences.

I agree but by 2035 we'll all have hover cars anyway.

Hermann Park At 6100 Hermann Park Dr.
Fringe replied to flatline's topic in Museum District/Hermann Park/Rice University area
Only way to do that is to shut down the Kush Express. (Metro) -
Almost went to the grand opening yesterday. Looking at that pic, I'm glad I didn't. Will be nice to have a second location away from the always congested Galleria area. Of course the Village isn't a whole lot better.

That would be cool but it's kind of close to the other Central Market. Unless this takes the place of the other one. They need more space and easier access.

This lot is for the school administrators. They're not about to park on the other side of the stadium and walk a mile to their offices.

Now that segment is finished maybe they will go back to work on the segment between I-10 and Westpark toll road. That area has become much to congested. Stop and go traffic is pretty constant these days.

Rice University History At 6100 South Main St.
Fringe replied to Ashikaga's topic in Historic Houston
Interesting. Must be an artist rendering? Or perhaps a picture of a European setting they used as a design for Rice? Of course there was never a dome like that at Rice and the sally port is much to tall. A lot of similarities though. Cool picture.- 113 replies
