  1. Ha ha. That commercial is dorky. I love it. We'd never see something like that on TV now. If we did it would be full of all sorts of satire and sarcasm with maybe inappropriate innuendos thrown in. Nothing can be innocent anymore.
  2. Thanks to the both of you. Many of the songs from both lists I'm very familiar with. I already own quite a few of them, either on mp3 or CD. SchwinnChopper68, you listed a lot of '60s music as well. That's probably my second favorite decade for music. Either the '60s or '80s. Was that on a Coke commercial? I like their '60s hit "Georgie Girl" better. That's when they they just went by "The Seekers". So, no love for Leif Garrett?
  3. Whatever happened to the astronaunt? Did he end with Time Warner? I don't think I've seen him in any Comcast spots.
  4. As a whole I find a lot of diversity in '70s music, but then I guess you could say that about any decade's music really, when you think about it. To me it's more melodic. I love everything from the early '70s bubblegum pop to the late '70s rock. The R&B of the '70s is much better than the R&B of today (I love the use of brass in '70s R& as well as country. Today's country just sucks flat out (in my opinion). Something I've noticed about some of the more easy listening '70s music is that much of it appears to have country influence. You hear a lot of steel guitar in it as well other twang, but it's good. Has anyone else noticed and why do you think that is? Please recommend some other '70s artists based on my '70s iPod selections: ABBA Albert Hammond Alice Cooper Anne Murray Bee Gees The Bellamy Brothers Beverly Bremers Bonnie Tyler Boston The Carpenters Cat Stevens David Cassidy The DeFranco Family The Doobie Brothers Earth, Wind & Fire Edison Lighthouse ELO Elton John Freda Payne George McCrea The Grass Roots Hall & Oats Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds Hues Corporation Jackson Browne Jonathan Richman Leif Garrett Leo Sayer Maxine Nightingale Nicolette Larson The O'Jays Olivia Newton John Orleans Paul Davis Pilot Player Reunion Rick Nelson Sonny & Cher The Spinners The Stylistics Taveres The Three Degrees Todd Rundgren White Plains Remember that CD of chanting monks that was popular about 10 years ago? Yeah, I didn't like that. Maybe I didn't give it a fair chance. It seems so cold and like you said, depressing.
  5. The 1970s was the best decade for music in the 20th century. Agree or disagree?
  6. Oh wait, I did have a Smurf mask one year. But I didn't wear the cheap plastic shirt that came with it. I wore my own Smurf T-shirt. I was always afraid of the elaborate grotesque costumes and painted faces. I was scared of everything as a child.
  7. It finally has some content. It only said "coming soon" for what seemed like months.
  8. I never dressed up because I was scared of Halloween costumes.
  9. That sounds familiar to me, but the years you listed were before my time. I don't know what I'm thinking of, but I thought I remembered something like that as well. Eww! That sort of thing makes me weak in the knees. Regarding the rocket jungle gym, I think they had one at Lake Houston. They've been discussed on here before.
  10. That's what I heard, but I don't get Chiller. I'm not sure I'd watch Chiller even if I did get it. I remember about a year ago when Chiller first came out. They'd show promos for it on cable and they scared me. I don't like accidentally seeing things that scare me. They have a couple of good old shows on there, though.
  11. Oooh, animatronics! That'd make me go more!
  12. Hey, I like that TZ episode! I stumbled across some old dummy pics the other day online, not looking for them. They were super creepy looking, but at the moment I was too lazy to come here and post them. Now for the life of me I can't remember where I saw them.
  13. Ooh, "Night Gallery"! They used to air that on the Encore Mystery Channel a few years ago. I used to scare my little niece with that opening sequence. Oh my gosh, I'm terrible! By the way, NBC.com has "Night Gallery" available in streaming video. They add a "new" episode every Wednesday. http://www.nbc.com/Vintage_Shows/Rod_Serli.../video/#cat=new My favorite episode "A Question Of Fear" starring Leslie Nielsen is still not available. Shoot.
  14. I know. What's going on with those jumbotrons, anyway?
  15. Doesn't every place have a "haunted" story?
  16. I think it's pretty common for all cities to refer to their airports as "the big airport" or small one. You hear it occasionally on the cable news networks when they're reporting from different places.
  17. Here's a video from channel 11: http://www.txcn.com/sharedcontent/dws/txcn...s.ee09b6eb.html
  18. I saw some palm trees waiting to be planted the other day. I don't know where they're going.
  19. What's different about Body Worlds 2 than the one a couple of years ago? And what dinosaur exhibit? They always show those Body Worlds commercials while I'm eating.
  20. Those sound very weird, memebag. Well, I had a doozy of one last night, or this morning. I woke up a little later than usual. I was at home and my mom was there. I had to use the bathroom, but the toilet was in the garage. So I'm sitting there and my mom busts in there and I yell that I'm using the bathroom! She tells me to come inside because some strange people are coming up the driveway. By the time I get inside, she's inviting these people in. Apparently she knows them. Some of them have dogs on leashes. I've never seen these people before so I go into my bedroom, which looked nothing like my bedroom. I find that my sister has used one of my walls to hang her clothes on. I don't want them in there because I like things to be kept neat. So I start taking them down and I notice that she had them labeled for some reason. I kind of feel bad that I mixed them up, but not too bad. So while I'm doing this some teenage girl, from the group of people that my mom invited in, comes in there and we start talking about clothes. Then I take my sister's heap of clothes into her room, but there's nowhere to hang them. So I go into another room and it's like a big dining room of a hotel. There are large windows and even a view of downtown. It's supposed to be Houston, but it doesn't look like it. It's much shorter than Houston's skyline. There are people in there haiving a party and they're mingling around. I'm like, "what?!". So I decide to take my sister's clothes into her bathroom and hang them in there instead. Her bathroom is like a large public restroom, but it's really clean, so I don't mind being in there. My brother-in-law comes walking down a hall, laughing, and tells me that I'm in the men's restroom. It was empty, so I sort of laugh it off too. End of that part. Second part, I'm somewhere. A large department store or something. There's a man arond 60+ years old with a double stroller. There's two little boys around 5 years old sitting in the stroller. One kid is white, the other is black. The little black kid starts talking about when he gets home he's going to cook some french fries in the microwave and just sort of gabs on as I smile and listen amusingly. The man does not even acknowledge me. Finally the man looks up, he has a wrinkles and pitted face, he smiles and starts talking about corn. The end. I'm running through a park. It feels fallish outside. There's a stream (or maybe a ditch) with rolling banks and a little bridge. There are park benches. There are people everywhere. There's also a woman dressed as Mrs. Santa Claus. But she's younger and more stylish than a typical Mrs. Clause. I'm running through this park so hard I feel like I'm going to collapse, but I'm laughing hyterically the whole time. The end. I left a few details out, because they were too hard to explain and I can't remember them clearly.
  21. I hate when people refer to themselves in the 3rd party. Joe Biden looks like an actor on "M.A.S.H".
  22. Do Alaskans typically sound like Minnesotans when they speak? It's kind of funny sounding. I have Alaskan family members, but I haven't seen them in a long time.
  23. Does anyone besides me ever have dreams where it's really nothing extraordinary or worth mentioning. It could be something as simple as eating strawberries poolside on a beautiful day. Sounds pleasant. But there's something about that just doesn't feel good? Like when you wake up you're slightly bothered by it?
  24. Funny. I ate brussel sprouts for the first time in a long time last weekend. Didn't like them until I put some Tabasco sauce on them. Now I've kind of been craving it. That's what I thought when I first saw it!
