  1. I wish they'd put a roller coaster downtown a la the one in Las Vegas at New York New York. We already have a ferris wheel.
  2. http://chron.com/disp/story.mpl/headline/f...es/4713469.html
  3. I have a Sunday Early Edition of the Chronicle and on the front page is Houston socialite Joanne Herring. She's being portrayed by Julia Roberts in the upcoming movie "Charlie Wilson's War": Julia Roberts as Joanne Herring: Joanne Herring (far left):
  4. Both the Astros and the Rockets suck like a fool right now. The positive that can come out of it, at least for Astros, is maybe they'll realize early on how desperately they need to fix things. I have tickets for the next Saturday game. Unless they improve and give me a reason to go, that's the only game I'll be attending this season.
  5. I'm not even counting on Roger being a possibility. I think he's gone for sure. Someone on the official Astros forum suggested they trade Brad Lidge for some sunflower seeds. Maybe they can get some bubble gum for the rest of the bull pen. Come on, guys, prove me wrong.
  6. Oops. The channel 11 story was about the Town & Country City Centre.
  7. I saw a promo for channel 11 news tonight at 10 and I think they mentioned something about this City Centre. They're doing a story about all the development going on around town.
  8. I didn't see Biggio's homerun. I flipped it to "Lost" at 9:00, though I checked back at the game often.
  9. Really? The World Series champs got swept in their first series this season? That does make me feel a little better. I wish the guys would start hitting the balls. We should have gotten a Lance, Biggio or Carlos homer already.
  10. I heard Oliver Luck on the radio today and he said that we should expect an announcement regarding a stadium sometime in early-mid May. The way he talks, it's going to be Sugar Land, Pearland or Houston.
  11. Don't you all wish these things could go up as fast as the homes on the Extreme Home Makeover show?
  12. How about that old man who shot that teenage thug in his home yesterday? http://chron.com/disp/story.mpl/metropolitan/4683605.html Love it.
  13. Streets of lava. That would be whimsical.
  14. Who thinks it won't get built? Someone should post a Google satellite map of downtown and mark the construction sites of current developments and rumored future developments. It would be a fun way to keep track of things since there's a lot going on and rumored to be happening. Walt Disney used to host a weekly show documenting the progress of Disney Land as it was being built. I wish we had a show like that.
  15. It is gorgeous, but it looks so much taller than the rest of downtown.
  16. Did I hear something about Sugar Land last night on the news or did I dream it?
  17. Those old disaster movies are so funny. Once I watched an "Airport" movie marathon on AMC. There's about a gazillion of them. They're kind of scary.
  18. I've been in the Virgin store in Grapevine Mills and it was just another music store as far as I'm concerned. I didn't even realize at the time that it was Virgin, or that it was supposed to be a big deal. I agree with what Mister X and Subdude said. Personally I've probaby purchased a total of three CD's in the past five years whereas I used to buy at least maybe one a week. I download everything. It's convenient and I feel I get more for my money that way. This is one Houstonian who would have no use for a Virgin store at the HP. Where is the full list of tenants for the HP so far? I swear I looked up and down this thread. I know it was posted not long ago.
  19. Gosh, I wish the other teams in the Western Conference weren't so tough. We may have to wait until some of those guys go away before the Rockets get a real shot at the title. So far, so good, but there's still quite a way to go. Hmm, where's Tonya Harding? > Kidding.
  20. Well it makes me feel a little better seeing that some of the yankee sports teams have it as their official stadium burger as well (Mets, Cubs). I thought it was a local thing.
  21. I love the lobby of Union Station. I was there just yesterday picking up some of those Astros pocket schedules. The Travel Channel aired a show the other day about ballpark foods and it included a little tour of the eateries at MMP: the two restaurants and Nolan Ryan cooking his burgers. The program was obviously a couple of years old. Why did they change from Nolan Ryan Burgers to Bubba Burgers anyway? Could they have picked a name worse than Bubba Burgers? They also showed Union Station and the train above the stadium. It was a pretty neat show.
