  1. I have still never been to this park. I've been around every square inch, but have never stepped foot inside. It's always bustling with people. A couple of weeks ago there was a section roped off with what looked like some Hawaiian themed party going on.

  2. I still have not gone there, but I was around there yesterday evening around 6:30. I was downtown picking up some Astros tickets for a later game. There were some vollyball tournaments going on at the GRB, so Disco was packed with a lot of those folks. It looked like a party at the Grove as well and there were tons of kids playing in the fountains.

  3. CDeb:

Our MLS team had a perfect name until some people who still wish history had turned out differently decided that they should be offended.

I preferred the Houston 1836 over the Dynamo as well. I'm kind of indifferent on the name itself. Dynamo sounded kind of silly at first, but I'd much rather have the Houston 1836 back in a minute. I liked the logo with Sam Houston.

  4. Are there any insiders here who have some information on this African Forest project that they can share? I had seen mentions of it but hadn't given it a lot of thought. Then I went to the zoo this weekend, saw the site on the map and was impressed with the size of it. On the map it says that it's opening in 2009. On Wikipedia it's fall of '08.

What exactly is the African Forest, since it covers such a large area? I'm really curious about it now.

Does anyone know why the fountain at Sarofim Court is still not finished? Or is it? It didn't have water in it, same as over two years ago. That's the last time I was there before this recent visit.

I love our zoo. I don't visit other zoos, so I can't compare. Almost went to the San Deigo Zoo once, but ended up not going. But this is the zoo I grew up visiting. And I just love the whole area surrounding the zoo. It's one of my favorite parts of Houston. It's beautiful.

  5. I hate eating at the stadium. It overpriced and it's too messy to try to eat in that environment. I always get the least messiest item: the (cold) $26 pretzel and a $15 Coke without a lid. If any place you need a lid on your drink, it's at a stadium. And sometimes popcorn or cotton candy. I wouldn't dare go into nacho or BBQ territory in stadium seating.
