  1. I do not know how to post photos, but anyone interested in Gehry's work should check this out: http://www.latimes.com/
  2. Hi Jesse, everything is find here. How are you doing?

  3. It seems to me, the fact that these new apartments are "low income" is the important fact. The color or race of the occupants should not matter since the requirements for getting into one of these apartments is "income". If these apartments are managed correctly, then nothing else is important. People with low incomes need a place to live too, such as seniors, and poorly paid clerks at the local mall.
  4. Hi there. Many, many, years ago I lived on the near north side of Houston in what was a track of homes across the 45 frw. from Northline Mall, which was brand new at the time. Can you guess my age?

  5. Fantastic! I use to drive between St. Louis and Chicago weekly and St. Louis to Kansas City monthly. Imagine just getting on high speed rail, sit back and enjoy the ride.
  6. Merry Christmas everyone!

  7. I know that we have talked about this before, but TLC does a great job of promoting all that is good in Houston with the two series, Big Medicine and The Little People. The cameras always show such flattering shots of the city and these shows are on every week for the world to see.
  8. Someone that I follow on twitter, found this: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/21/world/americas/21mexico.html?_ Is this a good idea? Should we do this??
  9. That does sound dreadful. However, the traffic between El Paso and Juarez is bumper to bumper because most of the companies that hire texans, are in Juarez, because of Nafta. Mostly El Paso people going to work in Juarez, go to the very large US Companies that have located there. Rail would take more people and free up traffic on the International Bridge. I don't know if it would work or not. Even with all the violence in Juarez, many people walk across the bridge everyday to shop and work.
  10. Reported by KVIA El Paso today: http://www.kvia.com/Global/story.asp?S=11224294&Call=Email&Format=HTML Especially interesting is the prospect of a Chihuahua to Denver light rail. All part of a New Mexico push of having our Rail Runner extend to El Paso and up to Denver.

  12. Actually, the Dome would probably make great sound stages. Ever been to Culver City?, same sort of thing, but the Dome is prettier. Hollywood is losing it's movie industry. Even our small NM town has had some movies made here without all the great resources of a great city like Houston.
  13. Reminds me a little of the original Knotts Berry Farm in Southern California. It has grown to include everything imaginable. Actually, I saw this topic discussed on KVIA El Paso several weeks ago when the reporter interviewed the mayor of Tomball about it.
  14. Well, I have never tried that. Maybe I will do that this year. It sure would speed up getting them into the freezer!
  15. You are right about the price! Today, Walmart had a 20lb box of green chiles for $19.99. We normally pay approx. $14.00 for 20 lbs. You can get, mild, medium, hot or hot hot. Oh yeah, we always get the hot hot, lol. That 20 dollar price is seems too high.
  16. Most of the "Hatch" green chiles are grown right here in my town of Deming. We have the largest Chile processing plant in all of NM. "Hatch" has become a label, is put on the cans right here in town. That said, Hatch does celebrate annually with it's chile festival (not chili). All the markets here in town have large chile roasters in their parking lots, including Walmart. We never freeze them until we have taken the skin off. Roast, skin, freeze! Good stuff and they do freeze beautifully.
  17. The old Los Angeles bus terminal was like this and it worked well. They gave it to Greyhound and moved to El Monte which is all outside.
  18. El Paso has a larger population than Denver..per last census. Besides, the southwest is where people are migrating to because of the availability of space. We need high speed rail especially because of the vast distances required between population centers. I mean, if you live in a big city, catch a cab!
  19. I think the new plates are pretty. The old ones were so blah. They don't look "gay", just pretty.
  20. I remember that I bought two copies of "Thriller", I wanted to be sure I had a spare just in case. Michael was such a talent. May he rest in peace.
