  1. Technically the website is “not up” and has been that way for years. If you go to the home page http://www.grandtexas.net/ you are not allowed access to the site. They are not smart enough to know that search engines easily jump the barrier.

Look at the location: “As part of the development process, Grand Texas has determined three different desired sites. Two are in Montgomery County, while the other is in Fort Bend County. We can assure you, this information will be provided as soon as readily available.”

  2. I wouldn't completely rule out an HQ move, though it is unlikely. A new shiny corporate campus, with an entire master-planned community (and VERY nice one at that) built right behind it? That may entice a move from Irving, where there are hardly any Exxon employees compared to Houston.

Yes but the Irving employees are mostly top management, and the rank & file here would be very uncomfortable with them looking over their shoulders. Lots of political implications.

  3. ExxonMobil should make a formal announcement early next year on their plans for the campus. At this time they have not finalized exactly what branches will close and move to the Spring location. Likely they will not move the present Dallas and Houston offices

  4. They surely don't promote community as much as we'd like to think they do

Where the heck do you get off thinking that TW is setup as anti-social? Our neighborhood on Wynnoak was overly social to a fault. Whenever my wife and I were working in the front yard inevitably five or six neighbors would come over to converse. Others would bring their dogs to play with our dog. Their kids would be playing football, baseball or soccer in the street. Before you knew it there were 10-15 people milling around our driveway and we could never get anything done.

Maybe the exception is the megabuck gated areas, but that is only a small fraction of the neighborhoods in TW. Actually I can only think of three gated neighborhoods here. Why does everyone assume/accuse that every neighborhood is megabuck?

I think TW has done a great job of developing the COMMUNAL bike paths, the COMMUNAL parks, and the COMMUNAL areas of Town Center. Plus every village has their own little COMMUNAL shopping center where you run into your local neighbors. How is this not promoting community?
