  1. A clip from a 1983 training film made in Houston. Dig the office equipment at the beginning. Full film at http://texasarchive.org/library/index.php?title=2011_02146
  2. Other than these two downtown scenes, don't recognize the neighborhoods. You can see the full film at http://texasarchive.org/library/index.php?title=Target_Delinquency_-_The_World_of_Billy_Joe
  3. You're right. The original is even slower, I edited the sound track to get the guy to come to point, a lot of slow folksy talking to seem more trust worthy, I guess. Or maybe we can just process information a lot faster now.
  4. Can't believe it's over 40 years. I'm getting old.
  5. The McClendon shot almost got me teary, sad to see the decay.
  6. There's actually two left in Houston, now called Monterey's Little Mexico. I've been to the one by Greenspoint Mall a couple years ago, had the same platters. http://www.montereys.com/locations.html
  7. I think my dad brought Monterey home before he started bringing pizza.
  8. Found this Bayou City History Facebook Page.
  9. I had my suspicions, more the bicycles and the stereo FM headset one dude is wearing. I corrected the title with a little explantion on Youtube. Don't know how, if possible, to correct the title here. I guess the UofH librarian who keyed the citation has a lot of esplaining to do. Thanks for the correction.
  10. For you hardcore historians, the full broadcast of the school meeting can be found here. http://digital.lib.uh.edu/collection/p15195coll38/item/305
  11. 2 views on court ordered desegration in Texas. One quite shocking from today's perspective. Unfortunately, probably quite common among whites of our parents' and grand parents' generation.
  12. None. The original video is in their digital library, runs about 20 minutes but has no soundtrack. It's public domain, but they ask to include the citation at the end. The music is a cover version that a Youtuber posted.
  13. Sort of a sequel to a video I did almost 3 years ago, A Night in Houston 1960. Recently I noticed UofH classified the original 1960 TV show as public domain and free to use. There's the Houston Symphony before Jones Hall, Alley Theatre before it moved downtown, a glimpse of beatnick Montrose, wrestling, ice skating before the Galleria.
  14. I added that music track to groove it up a little.
  15. You can find the full film here: http://www.texasarchive.org/library/index.php?title=2011_02144
  16. A murder occured in a house a few years after I lived there in the late 70s early 80s, a woman was strangled with a phone cord by a male acquaintence and it still stands. When I was househunting in the mid 80s, the realtor disclosed that the previous owners died in a fire there.
  17. KHOU footage from the Texas Archive of the Moving Image, showing a 1967 car versus pole accident. Notice how the boys hide their faces from the camera with their cowboy hats. http://youtu.be/ysc0ZlH4XTU
  18. Found some KHOU film of an accident in 1963, edited and put it to music. http://youtu.be/8HiIffGM86g
  19. I had seen these in B&W before, but not in color. Found a 19 minute documentary on the JFK library website at http://www.jfklibrary.org/Asset-Viewer/Archives/JFKWHF-WHN17.aspx Made a short video of the Houston footage. http://youtu.be/WMwNp11yGV0
