  1. Welp, I hope this doesn't screw things up http://www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/houston/article/Texas-Medical-Center-CEO-tapped-for-University-of-10984934.php
  2. Is street abandonment a long process? Just curious as to the motivation to do it now when the school isn't moving until 2018. Does a developer typically have to reveal anything regarding the plans as part of this process? Just thinking back to Museo Plaza and the plans to abandon Palm. I suspect there won't be much push back from the community on this one
  3. One of those "plan review fees" was issued for AHC South Main yesterday. Not sure how meaningful that is but it appears this is still progressing Project No: 16110569 Date : 2016/10/31 00:00:00 USE : MASTER INCLUDES (8) SUB PROJECTS; NEW SH Owner/Occupant : *AHC SOUTH MAIN Job Address : 7551 MAIN ST 77030 Valuation : $ 0 Permit Type : PX FCC Group : Buyer : HOUSER CARLA Address : 8300 FM 1960 200 77070 Phone : (281) 380-9059
  4. There's been some equipment there for a while as they've been using it as the base for the Main St repaving. That job has been surprisingly stagnant for a while as it is certainly not done but I haven't seen them actually pave anything in weeks
  5. Are the 71 new stations on a map anywhere? The only map I can find is the one where they were trying to solicit input for potential locations
  6. This situation is getting a bit ridiculous... They've moved across Main from the Wendy's, but night and day there are 30+ people just hanging out in a mob, doing lord knows what. I drive by every morning, and they are up and at 'em by 8 a.m. like some scene out of the "Walking Dead." Is it legal to just loiter like that? I suppose it's about as good a spot as any for them to just hang around but it's a shame it's right off of Main St
  7. FWIW, both the original article and a follow-up from mid-April about Allen Harrison mention that this project as well as the one in the Heights should break ground this summer
  8. The crane is up along Main St. Once the Medistar/Greystar cranes go up as well it should make for some pretty good TMC skyline shots. Not sure you can really capture all of the activity from a single vantage point, though
  9. This could be worthy of a new topic, but regardless I found out what the 2nd midrise will be... There's an ugly, overgrown lot at North Braeswood & Main (east side of Main) that I walk by almost daily on my way to the trails - they've been using it as a staging ground for the re-surfacing on Main, and I noticed there was no longer a for sale sign. "AHC South Main LLC" closed on the property on 5/19/16. I couldn't figure out what exactly that was but a managing director for Allen Harrison Co. (AHC) signed one of the documents. I'm not sure if this will be deleted, but I was able to read the article Urbannizer referenced from March without a subscription (just had to put in my email): I kept reading that as 7 stories, but sounds like it will actually be 11 floors total Edit: Sorry, that's just 1 of 2 midrises. The other will be a 5-story complex on 3 acres in the Heights (per the article)
  10. Looks like that was 6600 Main, or at the corner of Main and Dryden http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=146836 Not sure if this link is going to work, but apparently that plot of land (still a parking lot) is owned by St. Luke's: HCAD Link
  11. They apparently finished the utility work weeks ago as there has been no activity on the site at all for quite some time. However, today some heavy equipment showed up - looks like they might be ready to start moving on this:
  12. I drove by this site tonight on Fannin and saw some "Common Ground" signs (which are also visible in Street View). Here is the flier for the listings: https://www.dropbox.com/s/x63d4xugyutyaw6/Midtown.3.Acres.pdf?dl=0 Undoubtedly the block on the lower left is the one indicated in the Caydon brochure, but from this it looks like that Art Supply building wasn't part of the deal?
  13. Some more detail on this in a recent HOK publication - nothing new in terms of those renderings (despite the super-imposed image of downtown instead of the medical center!), but the 2nd page has some additional description about their concept https://issuu.com/hoknetwork/docs/hok_master_planning__landscape_arch/126
  14. This is actually a separate topic - this parcel of land is unrelated to TMC3, it's just in the same area of town. At this point it's just a large piece of land for sale
  15. Saw this article in the chron this morning - http://www.houstonchronicle.com/business/columnists/sarnoff/article/As-far-as-land-goes-large-tract-near-Medical-7252410.php Does anyone know where to find the marketing materials? I checked out the Cushman & Wakefield website but couldn't locate it. It's not quite as close to TMC3 as Nancy seems to think (I think she's looking at the wrong parking lot), but still relatively close
  16. That appears to be the UT Health parking garage, and it really does intrude - the upper trail just squeezes by it, and there are obvious issues with erosion. I'm guessing they will have to use a wall along that section with Project Brays as I'm not sure how else you could widen the channel
  17. From yesterday - kinda cool seeing a crane along the bayou. This will be 53' higher than the UT building next door (the shorter orange buildings). The next Project Brays segment is slated to be through this section, and the (hopefully) eventual 7200 Main site is to the left. And yes, that's a small, perennial homeless encampment under the Greenbriar bridge
  18. Walked by tonight and still nothing significant to report, though there *might* be another piece of heavy equipment out there. They recently updated the on-site rendering to include the Ascent Med Center tower:
  19. Is there an article out on it? I know that was the schedule they announced last month I drove by this morning and looked more or less the same - closed off, ongoing utility work, ceremonial pile of dirt in the middle of the lot. I will check it out on the way home, though Still wondering when they will announce the hotel brand (and if it's still Intercontinental)
  20. I think you're right, I saw the tent as well and it looked the part. Now there's just a big pile of dirt there, so they must have done it over the weekend Website is up for the apartments but not much to see yet: http://www.ascentmedcenter.com/
