Yeah, the sysco building looks really good.
-
Great pics of San Antonio, their downtown sure is purty.
I haven't been to DT SA in a long time, even though I frequently visit my family there. I need to check it out again sometime soon.
-
It has a nice amount of retail, but it sounds and looks just like any other strip center mega complex off of some freeway in Houston.
-
I dont like the top portion of the building. I suppose the rest is somewhat decent.
-
That is awesome news. The TMC just keeps growing.

Are they really going to put the companies names on the walls in front of the building? Or are those just for the rendering?
-
Good news. Is this the project that they will build student housing?

Sounds cool, hope to see some renderings soon.

I want to watch!
-
I bet it will be pretty busy as well.
-
Shamrock. A residential tower that was supposed to go up downtown but fell through.
-
I saw the site where they are constructing the 2nd rendering, and it's already cleared so maybe they will start construction on that soon. It's a couple blocks east of the mall.
-
When I went I thought it was pretty interesting.

I would respond to this, but I don't even know what it means...except for the part about the Texans and Rockets.
I think Semi just wanted to add in the thread how much Houstons sucks, when Houston sucking hasn't even been mentioned in this thread. Poor Semi.
And eelimon, I don't think he said the gym sucks, I think he said the gym sucks all of the business out of downtown.

Looks and sounds pretty nice. Cool.
-
I heard about this long ago, but then never heard of it again. I am glad that it may hopefully start up again.
-
Great. I always thought the Reliant area is pretty bland.
-
From the rendering it almost looks like something that would be in NOLA.
-
I've never been there, but it looks like a pretty cool city and I wouldn't mind visiting.
-
Cool. I like the second building more than the first, especially the entrance. The first renderings entrance was pretty boring compared to the second renderings.

Good article from the Journal. But man, I don't know if I can wait until May!

I refuse to get used to it. It doesn't have to be this way. The more we as citizens of this area talk and work together, the more community building there can be, and the less buliding for building's sake there could be. Quality of life is hugely lacking in this part of Texas, and sprawl is a big reason why.
You see money in this? For whom? A few developers and the politicians they pay off to get what they want? It sure isn't for many of those people who are getting those jobs you value. Most/many of them are low-paying retail and service jobs, not the kind of job and money you can build a decent quality of life upon.
This doesn't evenly remotely meet my definition of "progress."
The things they're building clearly already exist elsewhere about town. Why move out away from it all and then declare, "Ohhh, we need a CVS out here!" What increasingly does not exist is peace, quiet and unpaved space. More of those kinds of things would indeed be progress.
I completely agree with you!

From Pret:
Thanks so much for your comments, and your enthusiastic offer to help! We are working hard to grow, but unfortunately right now we are staying in New York. If we venture out south we will make sure to let you know. Thanks again for your comments.
Man, that sucks. Hopefully they venture down here soon though.

So, we need a 30 story condo to make it more "Urban" around there ?
That would be nice, but no. I just think a car dealership or suburban homes would be bad for that spot, when they could do something a lot better.
