For some reason, I actually like the rendering. There's just something about it that makes it look like it would stand out.

If the top part emits any kind of glow like the rendering shows, then that will make it look better.- 111 replies

Yeah, me too. But the skyline pics with it look neat. And atleast it has an open space at the top unlike most box towers.- 111 replies

That sounds very nice, but some of the things they are planning like the different sections of the city for certain development, won't that need some sort of strong ordinance that doesn't allow for a developer to plan a taller building in the low rise area?

Well seeing that he did do it in Denver and his development team seems more successful than Shamrock, it raises my confidence in it a bit more. Im still waiting for the day that i see work being done for Shamrock.- 8,201 replies

I think it sounds awesome, but i wont hold my breathe so that I wont be disappointed if it does fail, but i really do want it to happen. It makes it even better that they have already done a project like this elsewhere. Also it's good that they are keeping a low profile as to not get any hopes up unlike Shamrock which I guess we wont be seeing.- 8,201 replies

Sounds good, whatever it takes to bring people into downtown.

That sounds awesome, I hope it turns out how they are expecting, and if not I hope they try again next time and don't give up.

It isn't much info, but: Downtown park gets green light 05:37 PM CST on Wednesday, December 1, 2004 From 11 News Staff Reports Houston's city council has given a green light to more green space downtown. The city government will spend $8 million dollars to buy the so-called superblock in front of the George R. Brown Convention Center. And a new, quasi-government corporation will receive $750,000 taxpayer dollars a year for developing and maintaining that new downtown park. But some councilmembers criticized the plan questioning its cost and arguing the city first needs to open parks in other neighborhoods. Hopefully they can maintain the park properly without putting tax payers money to waste.

Well since the city likes to name things after Bush, I say we name it "George W. Bush Jr."
