  1. How about let's work on getting rid of the disgusting Christmas lights first. The green neon building actually gives the skyline some color and flavor @ night. Where did you find this hazy pic of dt? Hurts my eyes just looking at it.
  2. Yeah, let's keep it real. Why don't you and i agree to meet next friday and i'll show you how we do it here in downtown. Since you and dal think its dead. Downtown is every much as hoppin' as it was before. We'll encircle the whole downtown all the way thru pink monkey/toc bar area and head out to the Rocbar which i think would be more of the crowd that you hope to gain. IT willl be "hoppin". Oh, and you don't have to worry about African Americans at the Rocbar. That should make you feel comfortable enough . Oh and how about that Pavilions project?
  3. The racecard ain't BS when i read posts like the one you made. All i'm saying is, don't try to act like it's not a color issue when clearly it is. Downtown is not catering to the crowd you or dalparadise likes so its considered "Dead". Me and an out of town visitor went downtown and there were various clubs going on. We both thought downtown was happenin'.Everytime i go to midtown, there's something going on but i don't see one person of color. That inclines me to believe that's more of the crowd you're looking for. All i'm saying is, keep it real!
  4. Not trying to throw out the race card here but the more i read posts like this, the more i realize that some people here are scared of African Americans. I went to the same Main Street on Friday night and it was not dead. This was about 11:00 pm. I think some of you all are trying to keep from saying that a high presence of African Americans turns people away. If you think Midtown Houston is actually hopping compared to Main Street, then i have nothing to believe other than the people on Main Street are scaring you guys off. Sorry Mods. It had to be said.
  5. I sure wish they would quit with all these BS stores and bring in a Movie theatre and a ESPN zone like the one in Denver. ESPN zone is not in Denver Pavilions either but its a couple a blocks away on 16th Street Mall.
  6. what is LEED? Is it like Neon or the lighting on the Relaint Energy Plaza downtown (the building with the color- changing bars) ?
  7. This part of the article really struck me. Is this supposed to give some sense of false hope?
  8. what happened to the hotel idea? I thought that was pretty much a done deal?
  9. Well not for too much longer. TXDOT is planning on yanking some of the greenery from the median of North Central Expressway and replacing it with rocks. Read and weep! http://forum.dallasmetropolis.com/showthread.php?t=6775
  10. The north Central Expressway (75) gives the illusion that Dallas is a perfect, flawless drive throughout the entire 395 sq mi of Dallas. I bet that's what wx is comparing Houston to. Once you travel deep into the neighborhoods or off I-35, you see that Dallas isn't all glitz and glamour, especially areas in South Dallas. Dallas is just like Houston.
  11. Hey Face I'll help you out! I'd love to write a letter because this has been something i've always felt very strong about. I've always expressed it hard since my first days on this forum.
  12. I agree. And to top it off, Wells Fargo Plaza ( which was one of the best lit of Houston skyscrapers) seems to have completely stopped their white neon on top of the building. It angers me that the buildings with the ugly white Christmas lights haven't stopped. My main gripe w/ houston skyline @ night is that it needs to get rid of the christmas lights and replace with some nice colorful lights.
  13. I agree with you for the most part, but you lost me with Honolulu
  14. It's been that way for years!
  15. I'm getting pretty excited. I can't understand how someone could say this thing is overhyped. Downtown hasn't seen nuttin' like this before.
  16. Here goes a couple of large pic i found from Denver Pavilions web site to give an idea what downtown Houston will be looking like real soon. If Denver's looking like this with only 2 blocks, just imagine what Houston's 3 will be! Oh how i wish we could have (United Artist)
  17. no movie theater? BOOOO!!! I was hoping for a little more "hip" stores like NikeTown and an ESPN zone AND a movie theater. We got enough restaurant tennatns in here. This list so far is kinda... BLAAH!
  18. I hate to say it, but i gotta give the hand to Dallas on this one: both day and night. Dallas's skyline might not be as massive, but the buildings are well-grouped and better organized. Plus Dallas does an awesome job lighting up their towers at night, which gives it more brownie points.
  19. i kinda think adding another Corner Bakery Cafe in the Pavilions is a waste of good space. Bring on somethin' new like an ESPN zone or something else. Same goes with the Red Cat Jazz Cafe. We don't need the HP project being a repeat of what Main Street already got. Next we're going to here about new CVSs lining up HP. Ewwww!
  20. I saw this thread started by our old buddy greystone08 on SSC. Since he never posts here on HAIF anymore, I thought i'd start the same thread here and see some viewpoints as to why Galveston doesn't take better care of their beaches. Maybe since there's all kinds of new development, hopefully they might start.
  21. I don't know, i guess the same type of people that shop at UrbanMarket in downtown Dallas. There was an article about a yr ago that the city of Dallas was trying to front $ to that store to keep it from being closed down. Downtown Dallas doesn't exactly have the resident population either, but they're making it work.
  22. Just spoke with the guy by dialing the # on the website: 713-864-3313. He states that the project will break ground this week and will be open for occupancy in 2 years.
