  1. I too am a mass supporter of a better lit skyline as well. I look at Houston's skyline as a large array of buildings that some look good and the other half looks very bland and tacky. I also, as i've said countless times in the other night skyline thread absolutely hate the white christmas lights. I noticed that even Dallas has a couple of buildings lit that way in and near their downtown but it's not nearly as much as in Houston or Fort Worth. I was riding down the North Central Expressway in Dallas and noticed that the Cityplace Tower has that same lighting, but it goes all around the building, complimenting the building's shape and design, which i think sort of looks good. Also the West Marketplace building in West End Dallas is lit like that and is pretty visible from the freeway. I was really embarassed when we went to the World Series and a our downtown wasn't lit with the energy like Chicago's. It's a shame that the 4th largest city's downtown can't do better. I will compliment the Galleria/Uptown skyline at night. The Williams Tower, while not all that much pronounced is bad as hell at night. Also in the Texas Medical Center, i like the St. Luke's Tower with the white lit spires going up. But downtown does need to step it up a notch.
  2. i thought there were plans to turn the bottom portion of Stowers into a grocery store! And C2H, what made you decide not to move to Houston? It sounds like you live in Mayville if Houston metro has more people in it than your entire state has. You decided that Houston wasn't the place for you? Too ugly, hot, humid? What?
  3. when i'm back home and walking on campus at TSU, i always wondered if i would pass by GREYSTONE08- he doesn't post at this forum anymore though! But he was the only one i knew of on here that went to TSU and that's right down the street by where my ol' home is!
  4. A little late KID, someone beat you to it already. Keep up man!
  5. Yo LargeTX, where you at on this information? What was the good part about that week you were talkin' bout. The good week already passed now!
  6. What's the point of saying you have good news and telling us nothing?
  7. i know, i was just pulling his leg, it was just a poor attempt at humor!

  9. anyone gonna take the initiative and write a letter. I'm going to write a letter but i don't know who to write. Anyone? Please some info on this please?
  10. LARGE TEXAS, please answer us? Where do you find these renderings?
  11. well like i said, why don't you write a letter. cuz i'm gonna write one!
  12. good pose VelvetJ. That's my biggest problem with Houston's night time skyline is the Christmas lights around the rooftops. Like C2H said, I'm sure if enough of us got together and wrote a letter to Central Houston, it could make a difference. SO WHO'S WITH ME? who's all gonna take the initiative and write Bob Eury with Central Houston. I'll try to provide his mailing adress for you all later.
  13. for it to be opening in Feb 06, it sure as hell ain't showing any good signs of progress! Those same damn posters are on the Window of that building that's been there for months, and if you look behind the posters, it's still a parking garage on the inside. What the hell does CHIC mean anyway? I never understood that!
  14. I HAVE TO SAY that i somewhat share Houstonsemipro's frustration regarding this project. When i look at all the multiple projects that are taking place in Dallas, i conclude and feel that Houston's a little on the slow side. Dallas mentioned the Victory Development and wide plasma screens not even a year ago. They've already begun to move some dirt showing progress and signs that the projects are moving along. It's frustrating. Dallas appears to be the most booming city in the state right now. Why can't we at least start seeing some dirt flying or being moved for the Pavilions? I'm mad as hell!
  15. Oh i thought you were for real! It sounded alot like true sense , that's why i thought you were serious BTW: welcome back Montrose1100
  16. what i don't understand is why lighting the buildings with some style is even a concern with cost. They use the same white christmas light bulbs on almost every building at night (most notably the Exxon Mobil, Fulbright, Houston Centers, and Chase towers). Why is there no issue with cost when it comes to using that lighting scheme? Why can't they at least use the a different colors other than white lighting on the rooftops? Just like what they used during Superbowl 2004? Can't no one tell me that would cost anymore money than using the same boring white perimeter lighting around every building! All i'm saying is, it's frustrating to see Houston not live up to its full potential!
  17. OK SILENCE!!! That's enough. This thread should be used for updates for the existing Houston Pavilions Project. Not some bogus fantasy island type stuff. Yall are gonna make me CRAAZZY!!! Especially you C2H, you're the one who started all this off topic ____ goin'.
  18. nicely put there semipro, aside from the grammar errors! But i do share the frustration with semipro on the fact that Houston always seems to be a step behind the 8 ball when it comes to urban development and transportation. It's very frustrating to see cities like Dallas, Seattle, and hell even Denver outshine us when it comes to implementing new things. Why else did it take Houston so long to decide that they needed to start paying attention to downtown? Yeah, if this was a school, Houston would be in the slow class. And you Bachanon, i can't believe you'd actually use the Bayou Place as an exampe of Houston's progress. That place is as dead as a doornail, not to mention depressing. Where are these residents that place is supposed to be adding? No signs of any progress on that? Why can't we seem to get federal funding for more rail while Dallas keeps building more and more miles of rail? What's the deal Tom Delay? Do you hate Houston that much? I hope his indictment goes through.
  19. You can't be for real. Are you serious? You can't see my point and look back on how many projects in Houston have failed in the past? Major things like this rarely happen. No i'm not saying that the city should soley foot the bill but i've sort of lost a litle hope when it comes to things like this. First the project gets funds to get it started, then there's delays, then it ends up being stalled, then there's nothing. Look at Shamrock? I'm trying to be positive on this one to say this is showing better signs of becoming a reality and may be be a turnaround point for Houston in spite of it's past. It more than likely will to get rolling and thriving. But sometimes, i still can't help but be fearful that it won't go as smoothly as planned.
  20. i hope he's wrong but i think he's telling a truth about the way Houston has handled their business in the past. Things of this magnitude never get off the ground in Houston and Houston has not proven to be forward thinking enough in the last 10 years to make something like this a realty. Be that as it may, it said they were supposed to break ground this fall. Fall just started at the end of September so we got at least another 2 or 3 months left to see some progress (for it to be on schedule).
