  1. That strip center parking lot was a nightmare when Specs was in the small space next door to Academy. Especially on the weekends. Anyone ever skate at The Wharf ice rink?
  2. The second Cadet Don went by Don Travis I believe.
  3. You're right on the money. The decline in SISD in the last few years is stunning.
  4. Remember some of the these other audio chains in town before the early big box stores (Federated, Highland, etc) moved in? Stereo Warehouse CMC Stereo Pacific Stereo Sterling Home Electronics
  5. Wow..that's a Captain Bob detail I don't recollect. Any other details on the show? All I remember is a guy with one of those white captains caps and possibly some kind of turtle neck sweater.
  6. Thanks...it's a relief to know Captain Bob wasn't just a figment of my childhood imagination. No one I've asked has ever remembered him.
  7. Birthday kids on MaryJane's Magic Castle would get to stick their hands into the hollow tree and pull out as many pennies as they could grab. It wasn't even close to Kitirik in kid entertainment value. Does anyone remember a kid show on KPRC (I think) from late 50's with a character named Captain Bob?
  8. Your brother was using an awfully old handbook even for 1967! I was a Scout from 67 - 69. Some fond memories: Summer camp and camporee's at Camp Stake. Camp outs at Double Lake, Jones Forest and Lake Stubblefield. Everyone dumping their canned food into one pot. No matter what you put in it - it always tasted the same. Climbing the Jones Forest fire tower. Scout Fair at the Coliseum. My favorite - Order of the Arrow Still have my uniform...
  9. Thought we were the only ones bored enough to go out there and just ride the train back and forth from A to B at 1AM! Once went to the revolving restaurant on top of the hotel for dinner on prom night. One of our groups dad was an ATC and we got to go up into the tower after dinner. That was fun.
  10. How about Gallaghers Old Irish Steak House? I believe it was a chain similar to Steak & Ale with at least two locations - one on 45N around Tidwell and one on 59S. The 76 Truckstop at Rankin Rd had pretty good CFS ( at least it seemed so at 2am and 3 sheets to the wind) and was open 24hrs. I think it was gone by the mid-80's after being overrun with drug dealers and ladies of the night.
