  1. What is a "disgruntled tweaker meth-head"?
  2. Bleh. I hate Berry Hill. Bleh. Subdude, this robot is awesome: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4...5181&q=Polysics
  3. I'd just like to remind everyone that the first part of the finale is next Wednesday on Bravo. Chloe did make the final three, which means next week is the episode where she gives Tim a tour of her hometown (Houston). It might be fun to watch and see if you can spot places you recognize.
  4. I just started watching this show, Project Runway, and it looks like we have a Houstonian as a strong competitor on the show. Her name is Chloe Dao and she's the proprietress at Lot 8 in Rice Village. Chloe Dao
  5. $3000 fines for littering? It's a little draconian, but it will have the added benefit of filling the city's coffers. I'm sure HPD and the Harris County Sheriffs would be pleased to enforce this.
  6. Yesterday they put up a big logo for Joel Osteen, I think where the Compaq logo used to be. There's no Jesus sign yet, though.
  7. As reported in the Chronicle: (link) It seems excessive, but then I feared this would happen when I watched all the customers head to HEB.
  8. It doesn't necessarily prove the efficiencies of Katy ISD because the money to build this new school was probably approved by voters several years ago. That it is a new system is an advantage that Katy has over HISD because new bonds don't tend to go over well in the city. HISD is also filled with aging and overcrowded facilities and yet it is one of the fastest-growing school districts in the region. I'm sure that in a few years Katy will too start having its growing pains.
  9. Spec's is usually yoooge. At least it looks that way inside. I wonder if there's enough space in that retail center for one of those.
  10. I wonder if he's the same guy over at BW8 & Westheimer. I avoid that road when going home because of him. I hate that and I don't want someone's nasty water on my windshield.
  11. I noticed that when I first came to Houston - peddlers at every major intersection, and I assumed that the Chroicle had something to do with it. It is really annoying and dangerous. Even kids are getting in on it. Thank you very much, Chronicle. I will never give money to anyone who stands in lanes of traffic. Which intersection did this happen at?
  12. I don't like the patio in front of the cafe.
  13. I think there used to be a Kinko's near UH before. They relocated or something and then closed down. They were getting a lot of business from students before the move.
  14. I wish it had a different name. I hate having to clarify between UH Downtown and UH Main Campus.
  15. Anyone ever been to Sandy's on the Katy Freeway?
  16. I've never noticed because no one's ever mentioned it. They never said anything on the local news or in the paper. It must be a big secret.
  17. The Katy Freeway widening caused a major spike in property taxes for Spring Valley residents because of the loss of their most valuable properties. They didn't get a compromise, so much as they got steamrolled. The Grand Parkway project hardly seemed inevitable until it was added to the maps recently by those with lots of land to sell in the West. It was nothing but a crude plot to direct the region's fortunes into their own personal pockets. I've never seen any evidence that this excessive sprawl is healthy for the community, btw. Cities that enact urban growth boundaries around their perimeters, such as Portland and those in New England, enjoy communities that are many times healthier than the city of Houston. Ones that have let sprawl take over (Los Angeles, Detroit) seem to be decaying from the inside out.
  18. I have no pity for those who buy their homes based on the placement of a nonexistant road. It's no secret that home developers build along roads that can't handle the needed capacity because they know that later the rest of us will have to pay through the nose to fix things or watch these places turn into slums.
  19. Until there are shortages of gas. Anyway, who cares about Katy and Missouri City? There's plenty of open land within the city of Houston.
  20. Clearly $105 million isn't enough to satiate this guy, so my question is "Who cares about these greedy assholes?" We've been paying him whether we go to their games or not because that brand new park comes from our tax dollars. This is the thanks we get.
  21. It's almost done, although it doesn't stretch quite that much. The gateway to Houston section starts at Greenbriar and ends around Montrose, with only one bridge left to complete. I guess they are keeping the elevated freeway to the east. To the west it becomes plain old US59.
