  1. Glad to see this project moving forward. I know it's been in the pipeline. And with only 30 condo units, they won't have to rely on presales to get the project moving.
  2. And I'm not saying a complete makeover and redo. Most of the storefront can be easily restored to their former glory. I think the area could be revitalized. Build some urban apartments and condos along with some revamped retail and restraunts, an the area could be a great asset. In the process, areas can be set up for the festivals that are hosted in the area too.
  3. And private schools won't shelter them from all this either.
  4. I think if the heights were a little more open to new development, the 19th street area could become a better pedstrian friendly shopping place. It would be a great place to build a town center like area, the good thing is that it won't be artificial. The street grid is already in place. Many of the buildings could be saved and renovated. I'm sure some national chains would love to move into the area, but hostility from some of the neighbored groups is stopping them.
  5. You must be thinking of the Monaco. The tower was halted because they were getting any takers. The company was considering to go with cheaper and smaller units. I don't know what the status of that on is. The Orions were alway expensive.
  6. hey, the website for some reason doesn't work in Firefox. It works fine in Internet Explorer. They have a nice variety of floorplans
  7. So this project is still on, albeit slowly? Good to see it is not completely over. I hope it moves forward.
  8. I guessed it changed from this morning. I see the same home page as before. When I click to enter I get the page does not exist error. I'm guessing they are work on it again. I'll take you guys' word on it that the site is pretty good. This morning all I got was just to inquire about more information.
  9. Not every building can be an architectural feet and stand out. Some are based purely on the need for space and funtionality.
  10. It seems to be another masterplan. I could see Broadway getting a makeover, but a large part of the visuals is the old apartment complexes. The street isn't that bad and the canopy from the trees is quite nice.
  11. That won't happend until the multimodal station on the north side of downtown is built. It's still several years from project event getting off the ground.
  12. yeah, I've seen 4 in Brazoria County alone, but they all have a county road number also. Who know which one he was talking about.
  13. It's most probably still there. It may be classified as a county road now. Many old roads in Brazoria county got labled with a county road number so they could get some funding from the state and feds to do some road improvements. The county roads numbers help out also for emergency situations. You may have to contact someone at the county offices in Angleton for help.
  14. no prob, I like the fact that they are doing vertical parking. It makes the site more compact and walkable.
  15. Great if the Wal-Mart story is true. We need something like this closer the loop.
  16. Wouldn't it just be a place to sleep? The food will probably be brought in, or they can all eat the Cici's Pizza for $3.99.
  17. I like it. I find it's very convenient. I only go on sunday afternoons with friends for the cheaper price. I find that no move is worth more than the $6.50 matinee price. Just my opinion. I also eat before or after the movies. The strip center next the theatre has some good restraunts.
  18. The won't break bround untill all the TIRZ situation is finished off. The city council agreed on the measure, just more paperwork and permit issues will have to be ironed out. They just can't start building. The construction of this size facility will create some traffic issues in downtown. Measures need to be in place for the contruction of this facility. The project is moving forward nicely with all the pieces falling into place so far. The developer is committed to the project and is financing plan was based upon the cities help with the TIRZ. I thinking the devloper is now securing financing which will allow for construction to start in the future.
  19. It's theirs and many newpapers feeble attempt to be in the now and cool. The big problem is that they censor their blogs which is something that not normally accepted. The blog is supposed to offer the raw news.
  20. ^^^ Yeah, blogs are out on all ends of the spectrum. If you read and compare a couple you can end up getting the real story instead of having to rely on some editor who my be biased (in either way). Editorless blogs check themsleves because it the post something that is factually untrue, another blog will challenge it. It make the reader more informed and involved in the story instead of sitting back having is spoonfed. I think this is why the mainstream media is suffering so much from blogs, independant news websites, and radio. I would much rather read a blog (even if I disagree with it) because it is unfiltered. I find reading coverage on blogs to be quite more informative. I even catch news on HAIF. Someone will post an article, the valuable part is the discussion after. It gives people chances to challange the article and give other facts that may have been missed. I've seen it on here many of times.
  21. The chronicle: is it a newspaper? I couldn't tell with all the adds and fluff. Of course practically all newspapers are going this way.
  22. The website is nice and even has a construction tab so we can watch it get built. At first i though it was a lot of ground parking, but looking at the site plan, the two large areas of parking are garages. One is two levels with a ground floor (3) and one with one levles with a ground floor (2). This is mid-rise development without residential. Not bad for far west Houston.
