  1. If I'm not mistaken I saw this plane today when I came back from my lunch break taxing by the cargo terminal about to leave.
  2. Lol, isn't this called price fixing? Didn't the govt catch Sutherbees and Christies auction houses conspiring to do the same with their business back in the late 90's?
  3. Well someone needs to clear this up and find out officially. Obviously the owners of the building seem to think its as tall as they say it is as well as the rumer about it being originally planned as an 80 story tower and such about the FAA. It seems to be up in the air. Until someone shows concrete facts about this building, and i mean like actual survey measurements or the actual blueprints or even an interview with I.M. Pei, i have no clue who to believe. If Hines is saying it then im gonna start to believe their facts seeing as they own it.
  4. Well i was helping a friend move into their new home north of Willis and we all ordered from this little place in town called Pizza Shack. It was very delicious. Actually reminded me of Rays Pizza in NYC that i had back in May. My favorite hands down, But the next best would gotta be Pizza Shack there in Willis. Not exactly convenient as far as the location seeing as its like 45 miles north of Houston but a definate must stop for those weekend fisherman on lake Conroe or Motorcyclists that like the weekend travel north.
  5. Is that really amural? Wow thats awesome if it is!!!
  6. Its funny how the two buildings in that rendering both resemble Anadarko tower in The Woodlands. Its as if the both have half of the design. One has the concrete and glass and the other has the large setbacks at the top.
  7. We're back! This is the year for the rockets, we now have all the pieces to the puzzle and are probably the best team in the west. If we stay healthy then we are going to win it all! GO ROCKETS!
  8. Yao returns tonight against cleveland. Its now time to kick ass and win the championship.
  9. I like the tunnels. Its been maybe 2 years since I've been in them but I enjoyed walking through them. My only problem is that they weren't open later and were closed on the weekends. I think if only Houston had a subway system, they would be even better. It would be neat to take a subway train down to the galleria from the downtown tunnels. Oh well, wishful thinking aside, I still enjoy them.
  10. There is a Buddhist retreat off of FM 1488 about 10 minutes west of Magnolia in a small town called Fieldstore.
  11. You said it. They will never understand because they are communist swine. They keep taking away a little more of our freedom everyday. They wish to turn us in to an abomination, like themselves, mindless robots roaming the land quietly like a herd. One of these idiotic city council members, I think Aida Edwards, said something to the effect that smoking is still legal and sex is still legal unless it is in public. I really don't see the relationship there. I wonder whats next on the list because it sure as hell isn't drugs. Maybe next it will be banning people from playing video games and watching movies because of their addictivness and unhealthy lifestyle it brings. Then we could outlaw fast food. Who needs that fatty stuff? Followed by any vehicle that gets less than 50mpg. We can force millions of people on to our polluted buses and help traffic flow at the same time. We could also ban people from wearing certain styles of clothing, due to the relationship to gangs. Maybe instead, we should ban republicans and democrats from running for office.
  12. Their arteries were not clogged due to smoking, but from high cholesterol from all of the bacon, sausage, fast food, mayaonase, etc, fact.
  13. This city council is made up of a bunch of socialistic liberal nutjob bigots! They say its a public health concern but I somehow doubt that! I would love to see where the money that lines their pockets really come from. All I have heard on T.V., radio, and conversations is this force fed B.S. about how smoking kills, causes cancer, heart problems etc. Not everyone that smokes gets cancer, or have any health problems at all. I know of a few people that have smoked for almost forty years each and are in perfect health. Smoking is like rolling the dice. Some people get sick and die and others suffer little or no health problems. My grandparents smoked almost all their lives and died in their mid to late eighties. Smoking had no effect on their health. In fact they had no health problems that relate at all to smoking. They died because their arteries were clogged up from all of the fats and grease that they consumed. It did not help any that they never exercised either. I am, however not promoting smoking, I am simply stating that getting exposed to smoke once is not the end of the world. Resturaunts that offer smoking and nonsmoking sections do no harm to people. The smoking sections are isolated and ventilated to keep any lingering smoke away from those liberal, yuppie, tofu eating, mini chihuahua owning, hybrid driving, "my stuff smells like roses" assholes who feel that it is their duty to save anyone and everyone on the planet. While the argument continues thousands of people make their home on the streets. Some are mentally unstable while others simply ran into a streak of bad luck. Yet this mayoral administration has brushed them of like some fuzz on a sport coat. There are bigger problems than smoking. Our transportation system is going nowhere fast. There are thousands of trucks that drive the roads releasing tons of polluting chemicals at the sametime there are chemical plants that also release dangerous chemicals that poison the environment, and cause serious health problems to the local population. Those guilty companies end up buying the properties from people who live in the vicinity of the plant to save themselves from lawsuits that just might show their true contribution to the world. Just down the spectrum from that, we have illegal immigrants who get free health care that we pay for, drivers liscences, draining welfare and increase crime rates in this city. Yet our officers cannot ask their legal status because it just might look like racial profiling and we cannot have that in our great community now can we. We have to be polite to them otherwise we look like the bad guy even though they are the ones that are breaking the law. Then we are supposed to accommodate them, and make them feel at home. They turn around and curse us because we are wronging them while they insult our nation as they hide behind their countries flag. I just think that there are bigger things that our city council could do than worring about smoking bans. I do not smoke, never have, never will. Bans are not going to stop people from smoking. The same people that smoked before the ban will smoke after it is enforced. And any non smoker who hangs out with smokers is exercising his own personal choice. You have a better chance dying in a car accident than getting cancer from second hand smoke. In fact the car accident would probably involve someone who has been drinking, on medication, or on the cellphone. Not smoking a cigerette.
  14. I guess it comes back to the old "your rights end where my rights begin" statment. I never had a smoker force their cigerette smoke down my lungs but it sure seems that the nonsmoking entity is.
  15. How about just having the employees that smoke sign waivers so the insurance won't cover any smoking related illnesses. Therefore the insurance company is saving money and the smoker can smoke. Sounds simple enough to me. It seems that there are so many things that are getting out of hand in this country and the world for that matter. Perhaps the city council needs to focus more time on helping law enforcment catch crimminals, instead of worrying about someone smoking tobacco in a ventilated space. Dear City Council, MYOGDFB! sincerely, John Q. Public P.S. Get a real job!!!! They always want to take the fun out of life. A few years ago I used to hang out at the james coney island on westheimer on saturday nights. There was always a large gathering of motorcycles there. It was quite entertaining watching the exotic cars cruise by and watch the stunt riders bust tricks out on the street. Maybe there was some illegal activity going on and then again, maybe not. One saturday night some security guards tipped everyone off that the cops were on their way down to the james coney island to do a bust. We all took off and met up at the sonic. I ran over to the Kmart to use the restroom and when I came out all hell broke loose. The cops were everywhere, helicopters with their spotlights flying overhead, and teenagers running through the parking lot trying to avoid police. The infamous Kmart raid was because city council wanted to crack down on illegal street racing. Westheimer hasn't been the same since.
  16. FYI Celebrity siting at Minute Maid last night, Rene Auberjonois was enjoying the Astros/cardinals game in the diamond club, behind home plate last night. He also attended a number of games here last season. He played Constable Odo in StarTrek: Deep Space Nine, and is one of the leading characters in ABC's Boston Legal, although I cannot remember his name on the show. In fact the only name I do remember is "Denny Crane", probably because William Shatner shouts it out 50 times an episode.
  17. I wonder if anyone ever decided to take a rafting trip through the tunnel system when that happened. The new Houston sport, "Underground Tunnel River Rafting! Coming soon to a downtown tunnel system after a tropical storm or hurricane near you!" And if so, do you think Mattress Mac would sponser it?
  18. No B.S. but on a clear smog free day, we know those are rare, you can see the tops of both chase and wells fargo on the I-45 south bound bridge crossing spring cypress. That is a good 20 to 23 miles a way. It would also make a good picture. After you spot them you can't wait to get to the next overpass to see them a little larger. If you take the HOV in you can see downtown even better because you are elevated longer. I guess the only problem would be if you get stuck behind a bus.
  19. Excellent view from 59, with the courthouse dome reflecting the sunlight.
  20. I wonder, if this christopher fellow was up set about the 36ers, then do you think british citizens get upset when they hear about the 76ers or the Patriots? I think these people who complain about these things just can't find anything better to with their time. Life is too short to moan about Redskins, Chiefs, and even a team that has yet to play a game in this city. Chill out people, have a drink of the good stuff and watch some T.V. Oh, and make it a double when you're watching the Rockets Game. One more thing, I like DJ V Lawrence's Three 6 Mafia nickname better. Maybe the three best players on the team could also be known as the Geto Boys! Willie D, Bushwick Bill, and Scarface!
  21. Maybe if more people drove scooters and motorcycles to work, then it might help that transition to a more pedestrian friendly area. Currently everyone jumps in their MUV's(monster utility vehicle) wastes gas to go down the block, while on their cellphone, not paying attention to what is around them, not looking when they change lanes, fiddling with their lipstick, makeup, tie, shaving, kids and many more. Not even remotly pedestrian friendly to me. Especially when you blow your horn at them after they cut you off, the old hand guester is given to you, and when you wind up passing them they sometimes do worse almost causing accidents. Good luck if it ever gets pedestrian friendly
  22. I have been to a lot of mexican food restaurants around Houston, San Antonio, and around Texas for that matter. But to me the best mexican food in the houston metro area is ,hands down, Eva's Mexican Food Restaurant. Excellent food at good prices. Best tasting salsa in town. It is located off of Kuykendahl, about a 1/4 mile north of 1960. If you are ever in the area stop by it, you won't regret it
  23. looks really nice. Alot better than "The Prison" as we called it, the current Woodlands high school senior campus.
  24. Hey alot of people buy in to that sort of stuff so it couldn't be that bad. It just might bring more citizens in to downtown and shop, eat, and help business. I think though that even Tilman has his limits of what he might bring in. Gazzels maybe, but yaks?
