  1. This makes me sad since I love the current building on the lot but I have to say that I never gave business to anyone in there either...
  2. I had a ethiopian coworker in from our Oslo offoce a few weeks back. He got to walk a bunch of my coworkers through the exhibit, I just wish I could have joined them.
  3. Does anyone know exactly which direction they are going to expand. Space around there seems limited. I definately wouldnt mind some kind of parking structure where kids dont need to walk across that street to get in.
  4. The Glass Bros. Watermelon Stand has been in the fifth ward since the 50s. I believe it may have closed recently though. At Lorraine and Chase http://www.hottowncoolcity.org/view/site/detail/50/
  5. There was also a Gold's Gym close to the Bealls. It was owned by the same guys that owned that pizza joint at the seawall and broadway... I forget the name. I used to work out there every day while I was a waiter at Gaido's... nearly 3 years of it. After working out I would go eat at either the mall cafeteria or go to Luby's up on 61st street. -had my ear pierced at the Piercing Pagoda in 1990 -bought a cheezy italia summer suit at some shop next to GNC in 1991, very guido
  6. A friend of mine lives on Nocturne. I love his house and many of the others in the neighborhood.
  7. Nope. Wish I did. I absolutely love the outside of that house but it needs a lot of help inside... of the deremodeling variety.
  8. Marfreless shares at least one wall with the theatre if I recall correctly (been at least a year since I've been there). Doesnt that put it in harms way? (It could only have been cooler if it had no name)
  9. I was just at the med center across the street from MCM and I saw that they have started tearing into the old department store next to the ice rink... isnt that where the old Foleys was?
  10. Does anyone have a list of the stores that used to occupy the old Town and Country mall? My wife is trying to find the name of a shop that was there about 10 years ago that sold (among other things) beautifully hand-made jewelry boxes. Any help is appreciated.
  11. Ahh.. Been going to Hunan Village for years. Mia's is really good too, as is Mo Mong for vegatarian fare. We really like the Veggie Penang and Veggie Basil at Thai Choice out at Westheimer and Wilcrest.
  12. Memorial Bend is zoned to Memorial High, Memorial Middle, and Rummel Creek Elem. All are great schools and the Bend isn't crazy overpriced like much of the 77024 zip area. Although I believe there are even less expensive homes bordered by I-10, Beltway-8, Gessner, and Memorial. They are probably zoned to Frostwood Elementry.
  13. Thanks for making me look this up. http://archrecord.construction.com/news/da.../060302asia.asp Dated March 2, 2006 Taniguchi's $40 million, 35,000-square-foot Houston project (RECORD, January, 2005, page 34), set to open in 2010, is still in pre-schematic design stages. But models show that it will likely include some of Taniguchi's signature elements, including a long, rectilinear building fitted with large, flat overhangs, overlooking a rectangular pool. The pool, large windows, and two gardens, says project development director Margaret Bott, will utilize Taniguchi's ability to "create nature in the building." The structure will include a 300-seat theater, a caf
  14. Excellent. That is just a few hundred feet from my front door. I'll have to go give it a look see now that it is back.
  15. No McHard and Cullen do not intersect. That area is pretty fubar'd in the morning. I use the BW8>Cullen>518 route alot. The only alternate north of 518/Broadway is take McHard to Smith Ranch South to Hughes Ranch East to Stone North to Brookside East. A bit convoluted.
  16. On a related note, I know that the Children's Museum is supposed to expand by quite a bit soon but I cant figure out which way. Dont they cover the entire block? Perhaps to the parking lot across La Branch?
  17. Burlington is another great outfit. They bought up Louisiana Land and Exploration which makes BR one of the biggest onshore players in Louisiana for oil and gas... and that is saying something. Both Burlington Resources and El Paso Natural Gas are spin-offs of Burlington Northern RR.
  18. Yep, my favorite house in houston. Lose the putting green and it would be perfect. It used to be going for 1.7m, at 1.575 I'll have to ponder it again (guffaw!)... Unfortunately I think just the taxes on that place would break me. (there was a good amount of enron memorabilia laying around when I did the walk through... made me stop and think) edited for finger tax
  19. I wouldnt doubt the EOG claim, they have been doing very well recently and hiring like mad.
  20. I hope it's something cool like a RUF or a SMART dealer.
  21. 'Paradise by the Dashboard Light' -Meatloaf For the radio broadcast part
  22. My daughter is way to young for Astroworld but she gets so excited everytime we drive past it... "Rollercoasters DaDay!!" I was hoping to take her in a few years.
