  1. I believe that you are thinking of the one that is on Telephone road and Park Place Blvd. It was an Adult theatre for many years and just recently closed their doors.
  2. Thanks for the photos. I know for that there are still quite a few of them left around Houston. I have always enjoyed seeing how Houston looked way back when. So much has changed and not all for the better.
  3. There is still one on Lyons ave near where it meets I-10 West. I wonder what theatre that one use to be!
  4. I recently saw a commercial on this place the lady pulled up in a Rolls Royce. if I had that kind of money I would still choose some place else to live. But I do like the design.
  5. I doubt that you were born at that hospital unless you are in your late 70's to 80's You were probably born at the other Jefferson Davis hospital that use to be on Allen Parkway. It was built on top of an old cemetary as well. As for the rest of your story? Well it is possible.
  6. The only way you will ever get to walk through this building now is if you either bacame a memeber of the construction crew or were granted permission to rent a place in it after the work is completed. Believe me when I say that it looks nothing like it use to. They may even have to take it off the Houston Haunted tour soon.
  7. Try this webasite it is the new City of Houston web saite and full of information. And actually very easy to use. City of Houston Texas web site.
  8. Why stop there lets make it the worlds largest indoor nudist colony and apartment complex! You could have privacy and a constant all round controlled weather. A huge swimming pool in the center with lots of indoor plants and stuff. Ah the possibilities. Now in reality we could turn the place into a new branch of the medical district for children and people with an allergic disorder to the sun. I saw a show about that last weekend. They could have a huge indoor area to go play or work in and they would not have to be exposed to the sun. We could even set up smaller microclimates for other people with different disorders. No it would not be like a leper colony.
  9. Some how that response just did not surprise me at all. it seems to be the general attitude of a lot of people around the US lately. I am a US veteran as well and many times while I was out looking for work I got the same response that Military experience does not count toward civilian experience. Or, We do not recognize military experience as useful experience. Or, Ah I see that you were out of work for 4 years? What did you do? Attend college? No I was in the military. Oh well we like people with a steady work history thanks and have a nice day. I could go on all day!
  10. Thanks those were great. I will see if I can find some of the ones from when I was young and scan them in. Any way here is the direct link Sea Arama
  11. I am not to sure about the ghosts and all and how mean or other wise they are but I do know that the only time my camera malfunctioned was when they were digging in the basement and uncovering the bodies that are buried underneath the structure. It worked fine before that day and has worked fine ever since. It was just that day and that day only that my camera has ever malfunctioned.
  12. I can see it happening and I really do not think it woudl take much to do. But I do recommend that they find a way to keep noise levels down thought. They could use a sound damping equipment. This way it will be more enjoyable for everyone. And only use equipment that does not make much noise. Electric motors if required.
  13. That would be incredible. I can so see that place being turned into a giant indoor park with all kinds of activities. No gas powered equipment allowed at all in it. We could have mountain climbing, Hiking trails. botancial gardens, bike trails, birds, butterflies, caves, swimming pools, education rooms, aquariums, fishing contests, paddle boats, and if we do it right sking, canoing, and all kinds of stuff. A massive indoor sporting complex. We could even have a kids section.
  14. Humm! I like the idea of a sports complex with mountains and stuff. I think that woudl work. But only if it is not to costly to get in. But I know Houston and they will charge an outlandish fee to get in.
  15. I was wondering if anyone knew the story behind the church that is slowly being built near 59 North and Crosstimbers? They sure are moving slow in its construction!
  16. Nice pic even if it is a crapy camera. I still like it. Can you try it again on a sunny day next or was it sunny? Just wondering?
  17. There is a memorial for the old Baseball park in the fingers store that sits about where the orginal first base Diamond use to be. It is free for all but you will have to go during business hours.
  18. I was just wondering if anyone else has been following the reconstruction of this historic old building? She is such a wonderful building it was such a shame to see her sit empty for so long. Now she is really taking shape. I posted a bunch of photos of her in the thread posted below if anyone is interested in looking at them. There is also another link that will bring you to more photos. Reconstruction of the old Jefferson Davis Hospital Link to thread containing more pictures of the reconstruction.
  19. I remember that and I also know that it is illegal to sleep there but I see it all over the place everyday. And it is getting worse. One of the worst places is near the soup kitchen just north of and on the other side of 59 near Minute Maid park. I see them bothering people going the game all the time.
  20. Wow thanks for sharing those with us. Nice job. And the weather was perfect for taking them!
  21. It is true this place will be turned into a new kind of apartment building for artist and low income people. They did not say anything about families but I am sure some will be in there. An artist drawing of what the place will look like when fiished.
  22. A lot of people believe that this place is really haunted and it might be. After all it is sitting right on one of the oldest spots in Houston. If I remember right Houston was pretty much founded right there. Boats use to load and unload their cargo and customers right there. I am sure that the spot has a lot of history to it. So if anyplace in this city was to be haunted then that place would be. I do not think that it is just a ploy to get business for halloween. Ghost hunters have been exploring that place for years. And from a business point of view it makes for some good free advertising.
  23. Many Places in Houston are hard to get to but never stopped anyone. That place would have made a wonderful Museum for the Medical District or the Fire Department since it is right there anyway. It will also make a wonderful housing development. I guess the fact that it is so close to the freeway is what really bothers me about this place. I just picture kids playing in the very contaminated soil and getting sick and then a major lawsuit and all kinds of stuff. I am probably just getting ahead of myself though.
  24. I thought I would share some of my most recent photos of the Place. These are of the boiler house in back of the hospital. As you can tell like the Hospital this place has been pretty gutted as well. It is still a wonderful place to look at. Front exterior of Boiler House West corner of boiler house. West side of Boiler house Looking at the back of the boiler house. Right rear entrance of the Boiler house building Exhaust Stake in back of building #1 Exhaust stake in back of Boiler house Building #2 Left rear of Boiler house. Main room shoot #2 Left side room of the Boiler house.Standing on the West sdie of Building. Well that all for now. I will get the rest up as soon as possible. As far as I know now there is no plans to do any work on this building at this time.
