I remember the Majestic, Metropolitan and Loews very well....it was big deal to go "down town" and see a movie at one of these theaters.

My wife and I did not go to the Spring '70 show, but we did attend the show in October'69 with the Jefferson Airplane, Grateful Dead, Byrds and Poco -
Check this site http://www.members.tripod.com/airfields_fr...TX_HoustonW.htm it has info/photos of Andrau Airpark. It's an interesting website that has info on abandoned and little used airfields listed by state.

We used to go there with our baby daughter in the 60's....it was a great place to go because we could watch a movie, while our baby slept in the back seat of the car.- 63 replies

I remember going to the opening of "Hobby" as a 9 year old boy and seeing the Blue Angels perform.

The Alabama was a GREAT theater......I saw the "Sound of Music" there, it played there for over a year!

A very good article...it captures the mood and spirit of Montrose. I graduated from UST in 1968 and saw it all first hand.

Does anyone remember Ari's Grenouille and Los Troncos on Westheimer, West of Montrose? They were good places to go to in the 60's.......I believe Ari's survived for quite awhile, but Los Troncos burned down at some point.

When my wife and I were dating in the mid 60's we used to go regularly to Sand Mountain....and La Maison.
