  1. Part of the University of St. Thomas today......
  2. I worked downtown in the late 60's and early 70's and I parked in underground garages and walked in air conditioned tunnels to the office buildings........
  3. I worked in the IBM building under construction next door from 1968 to 1973, then moved to continue working with IBM around the country until 1992.
  4. I used to go to that one a lot in 1963 and 1964.....
  5. Nail salons and donut shops.......
  6. I was referring to the park "at which I got motion sickness once ", not the pony ride park.
  7. I think the amusement park was Playland Park.
  8. In those days men wore suits year-round.....
  9. Jetton's was a great cafeteria in the Greenway Plaza area.......
  10. I have many fond memories of going there in the mid-50's for the 25 cent Saturday matinee with my buddies!
  11. It is where the Arabic Immersion Magnet School is today.
  12. Was is this the original location for European Imports Co. in 1946??
  13. I remember an old ice house on Almeda, it was next to the riding stables on the edge of Herman Park. My recollection is from the late 50's when I was a kid and loved ice-cold Cokes pulled out of an icy cooler!
  14. My wife to-be and I went to the Charity Horse Show in 1966 on a date.......
  15. Poster done by National Airlines.....interesting to see what they highlighted.
  16. Winterland - my wife took skating lessons there from Ronnie Roberts in the late 50's. Ronnie won a Silver Medal at the 1956 Winter Olympics.
  17. I believe the last Nabisco plant was further out Alameda.
  18. My wife and I have a lot of connections to this neighborhood. She went to grade school at the old Montrose School and we both were at the University of St. Thomas, classes of '68 and '69 and finally we lived at 719 W. Main in the early '70's before we moved away from Houston.
  19. There are also a large number of international students at the University of St. Thomas.......
  20. Small world....my wife was at Montrose School at that time in the 5th. grade.
  21. I didn't go to Oaks, but I attended the 6th. grade at St. Mary's in 1958, when they had a school.
  22. "Blood Rich" by Jane Wolfe, it's about the Sakowitz's, Wyatt's, etc.
