  1. It’s part of phase 1, but the building hasn’t been announced. Some folks here have commented that it would be a good sized lot for a grocery store 😇
  2. Yeah I had the same thought. How about before/after of 59/69 being covered by a highway cap?
  3. Hey how else is the home renovation industrial complex supposed to make that $$?
  4. Looks like they have reached the first step in the building (on the right side) Gives some perspective on how tall this will be!! We're only ~1/3 of the total height so far.
  5. One comment re: rail line. the NHHIP project will be taking over all the space northwest of the tracks (where the warehouse and gas station are currently located).
  6. This drives me crazy -- my office building has a revolving door and then a small swinging door next to it and everyone always avoids the revolving door.
  7. I have some work experience in this area. Often companies will shut down turbines when migrations are passing through (it’s typically well documented when this is happening, you can even see them on weather radar there are so many). Also there are capabilities to have camera recognition of birds in the vicinity and automatically shut down turbines. This is used a lot to reduce eagle strikes as it is random and typically only a single bird. Sonic deterrents (as mentioned above) are also used in some situations. Wind companies have a lot of experience with endangered bat species as well, voluntarily stopping turbines during summer nights when they are flying. Suffice to say, bird strikes are a lot less of an issue than some like to make it out to be.
  8. There is a temporary bike lane there at the moment -- orange traffic barriers to separate it from the road. They added it b/c the section on Lamar is closed during the construction work.
  9. https://www.us.jll.com/en/investorcenter/land/12-acre-infill-oz-development-opportunity-with-adaptive-reuse-buildings-houston-houston-tx-unitedstates Still showing as 'under contract' -- I was curious if there would be any movement with the recent announcement of the WKM property redevelopment down the street. Nothing that I can see though.
  10. Love love love this! Are these the same folks who bought the pita pal plant and the properties along canal?
  11. Finally added a bike rack! It was frustrating to take the very nice Polk bike path to this new development and then have to lock my bike to the handicapped parking sign….
  12. https://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/houston-texas/houston/article/Midtown-club-opens-without-exotic-animals-after-17285934.php No animals -- turns out there is a permitting process they were not aware of.
  13. If they are re-doing this section, can they make the i45 exit a right hand exit? It always backs up from people not realizing it is on the left and having to cut over at the last second (or cut over to the right to avoid going on to i45)
  14. Yeah leave the animals out of it -- they don't deserve to be subjected to that every night :(
  15. I recently bought an ebike as well, its an awesome way to get around :)
  16. That was my understanding as well -- this is a 'temporary' installation until they get to building out that part of the development. But that may take up to 20 years :)
  17. I saw on IG that a new coffee shop called Blue Tile Coffee will be opening in the same building as the H‑E‑B (looks to be the southwest corner, not the former roastery space). Right now they are doing a pop up at 4001 Leeland https://instagram.com/bluetilecoffeehtx?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
  18. Where the new development is going in used to be one of the city incinerators. Also the fact that and incinerator and a hospital were built next to each other is wild.
