  1. Oh no! That means it might sit empty for years going through litigation. Unfortunately, the homeless will probably occupy it during that time.
  2. Steel has started going up on the UH football operations center. I like how they are using the existing load bearing columns. This has saved a lot on foundation cost.
  3. Oh, I thought that was going to be a swimming pool but I guess not since it looks like grass and dirt is in it. So where is the pool?
  4. So now we know. https://x.com/TheDailyCougar/status/1752108421497712905?s=20 https://thedailycougar.com/2024/01/29/new-dining-facility-delayed-name-changed/
  5. The football ops building is going to be an interesting build to watch. It appears the support footing is already in place on the concourse from the dismantled bleachers. Also, the roof of the existing structure looks to already have support column structure that was going to be used for expansion up to 60K. It appears they may have saved a lot of money using the existing support system for part of the new building but we shall see how much of it they will use.
  6. New construction cam pics of the Memorial Hermann Football Operations Center at the University of Houston TDECU Stadium. They removed the video board and the second level bleachers.
  7. Wow, the building is barely open and already showing off. https://x.com/CFBPlayoff/status/1743452370606899282?s=20
  8. So on February 6th, I will be able to go in there at lunch time and get some food and sit down at a table and eat it. If you say so.
  9. I noticed in the background of one of your pics, there are townhomes/apartments under construction. There seems to be a lot of these going up north and west of UH. Anything is better than those dilapidated houses.
  10. This article talks about Haven at Elgin but in the last paragraph, it also mentions a new 810 beds student housing project in the planning stages. Does anyone have info on this? https://www.multihousingnews.com/luxury-student-community-opens-in-houston/
  11. Well it's an affordable private student housing building so it's not supposed to be pretty with lots of amenities. Nearby, there are 2 luxury private student housing buildings that gives you lots of amenities.
  12. It was supposed to look like this but they went with the cheap motel look instead.
  13. Oops! City inspections will make you get it right. I still can't believe the city will allow unprotected utility poles reside in a parking lot. I guess they will wait until someone dies from an electric wire after a car knocks over the pole.
  14. Wow, they are really close to the student move-in date and there seems like quite a few exterior things not finished. I'm guessing the interior and rooms are done.
  15. That looks like rebar in that fenced dirt area. I guess they are getting ready to pour concrete for a parking lot. I still don't like the utility poles with no barrier in the parking lot along the street. Someone is going to hit one and cause a dangerous situation. I cannot believe the city approved that.
  16. I wonder how many times will cars knock the utility poles down before they decide to run the lines underground or put bearers around them. It's inevitable.
  17. It looks like a sleazy motel or homeless shelter. I'll give it a pass if it's affordable student housing.
  18. Those utility poles in the parking lot are not going to last once cars start using the same space. SMH
  19. With employers letting employees work from home, there will be less demand for office space. ☹️
  20. There seems to be some areas of Houston that are not updated like the UH area and around GRB. Edit: I was referring to the Google Maps 2D on my cell phone. Edit again, .: the Google Map on my cell phone finally updated.
  21. The UH HUB construction is now covering the existing concrete foundation with dirt. I'm not a construction expert but it seems interesting.
