  1. Interesting that Avila will be involved. I wonder if he will put Pizza Pazza (on the Navigation Esplanade) on hold. If i recall the original permits I saw on the container building were in his/El Burro's name. In the back, maybe? Come to think of it, I've never walked the back half.
  2. Corky's and Acadian Coast may have common ownership. If so, good call on at least rebranding to something more regional. https://houston.eater.com/2020/8/12/21363650/corkys-bbq-opening-houston-navigation-memphis-style-barbecue-acadian-coast
  3. Forgot to upload this after I did my walk of the building. This area, off McAlpine across from the Boys and Girls Club, was completely bricked off earlier. Anyone care to guess what it's for (aside from Harry Potter's advanced Cupboard under the Garage Ramp)?
  4. Walked the building today. GFR definitely on the Canal side. Not sure what is going on on the Navigation side. Building is fully topped out now. Two floors of windows installed. Framing for the asthenic elements is being put in.
  5. Oof, I was unaware of that. Hadn't been there in a month or so. That's just nasty.
  6. Anyone else take an almost person offence to the fact that the Lockwood/Harrisburg CVS uses three different fonts and colors in their branding as "CVS y mas?"
  7. https://houston.eater.com/2020/7/29/21346717/acadian-bakery-houston-montrose-closed-after-40-years Probably not. Or may super yes (close bakery on W. Alabama, open new shop)!
  8. I'm still hoping there is more than blank space. Seems odd to hire an interior design firm with more restaurant/bar experience than commercial/residential work to do your building and not use their full potential.
  9. Not the biggest Poke fan, but the area desperately needs more variety of food. For that reason alone, I would go. I can't vouch for everyone in my subdivision, but the 14 of us here are always looking for more variety. I'd guess they would all be going too. At least once 😃
  10. I dunno, there is a lot of traffic. Mostly concrete trucks and other trucks roaring down Navigation daily. Maybe "not overwhelm" means "swap work trucks for passenger vehicles."
  11. Oh, interesting. I'll have to pay closer attention then next time I walk by.
  12. I was walking the dog by the building earlier and noticed they took out the front facing windows on the restaurant side.Thought that was pretty odd.
  13. This is why we can't have nice things.
  14. Buffalo Bayou Partnership just sent this out regarding an informational session on the Buffalo Bayou East Plans: I don't know if we are allowed to post links to stuff like that here, but, I'm sure you can find info on their website.
  15. I'm not sure what work needs to be done, post Harvey, but from where I live I can see the roof of the building. It looked to have been damaged during Harvey and remained since then. Maybe they are working on it finally.
  16. Yeah, "yikes" is a good way of summing up my feelings towards that roof design.
  17. My wife and I call Midtown Randall's "Club Randall's." All it has a good selection of is Gatorade, energy drinks and beer. Rest is a hodgepodge. Wonder why?
  18. Not to mention the fact that 2404 is one small lot while East River is a massive development that needs utilities, roads, and all that jazz run before you can even start.
