  1. Heavy pecan coffee table in excellent condition. My parents purchased in the early sixties. I'm not sure if it would excite any mid-century fans. Maybe some of HAIFs experts could chime in.

    Personally, I think it's ugly.

The table is located in Conroe. We aren't sure how to price it. The label on the bottom reads "Columbia" in Louisville, KY. It has a unit number......6682 if I remember correctly.

Any input you have is appreciated.

  2. oh. now i get it. interfaith was originally responsible for welcoming newcomers to the woodlands, and kept records of the woodlands population. when you are a new resident of the woodlands, an interfaith rep will come knocking on your door. it sounds as if they keep up with more than new homeowners.

  3. "interfaith" lockmat?

fortune - no details on a 40 story commercial building, just a rumor. the woodlands development company is focusing on hughes landing specifically for now, or so i've heard. nothing major to occur for a year or so on the waterway.....at least to be developed by the woodlands. i do not know if there are properties not owned by the development company that could see some activity.

on another note, the push for a permanent ice rink location, is because the parking lot at six pines and lake robbins is to be developed in the coming years.

i think the woodlands development company is limited as to how much they can develop at one time. the current demand for hotels, rental units, and commercial, may be greater than they can produce.

  4. "A 40-story luxury condominium building is also planned for Town Center near The Woodlands Waterway. The high-end units aim to fill the need of a specific segment of the area’s population, such as empty nesters and young professionals.

“Town Center was always planned to be more urban, with higher density residences than the villages in The Woodlands,” said Susan Vreeland-Wendt, spokeswoman for The Woodlands Development Company."

WHAT? The luxury residential at Waterway Square is 20 stories and the floor plate is probably too small for 40 stories. This is the second mention of a 40 story building I've heard, but the first was commercial. Either impactnews misspoke, or something else is afoot.

  5. if you look at the map, the three shorter building are on timberloch. the big building, 10 waterway, looks like a mixed use with parking. residential brownstones or townhomes lining the waterway square "extension" from the waterway to timberloch and more residential on the south side of timberloch behind the three shorter buildings. oh well, i wonder if they will have pre-construction discounts on the residential.......

  6. that's just it fortune........there were three shorter buildings planned for the "super block" on the south side of waterway square...that opened up to and complimented waterway square on the north and now this monstrosity. it wouldn't bother me so much if it was offset from the waterway, like 24 waterway in front of the fountain. 24 waterway is 14 stories and set back. the hotel will be similar to 24 waterway in height (at least it was, who knows now).

i can't tell from the rendering, but retail on the first floor and around the second fountain would soften it at the pedestrian level. at least that may still happen.

it just rubs me wrong....like "hughes landing" at lake woodlands. they are abandoning even the "woodlands way" of naming things. hughes landing is a pr name for the howard hughes corporation. just stupid.

don't get me wrong...i love a new tall structure just for the childlike satisfaction it brings; but why mess with a good thing? 10 waterway is TOO TALL for that location.

  7. yup. that must be the 600k square foot building. howard hughes sucks. they are going to completely f up the waterway square plan by placing a really tall building right on the waterway. it takes away from the human scale originally planned around waterway square.. they are going for bang for the buck. it dwarfs the brownstones and lofts. i can see they are giddy to maximize profits at the cost of good planning. just stick the most square footage where the demand is greatest regardless of the scale. ridiculous. booooooo!

  8. niche the sycophant! hardly.

houston is enormous with too little concentrations of people and/or businesses. we need mass transit only where we need it. the region is too big and spread out for mass transit to solve all of our needs.......hence, the auto is ideal for a city like houston. not pretty, not my dream for a livable city, just a fact.

  9. i vote to dismantle i-45 through downtown between the north and south loops. make i-45 a grand boulevard from the north to south loop. rename it of course. add direct connect lanes around the loop to reconnect with i-45 for pass through traffic. build the university line and other short distance transportation options inside the loop.

....back from la la land: any options to eliminate elevated freeways around the city's core is a plus. the roundabout idea does not sound as if it will accomplish a better urban fabric only help traffic move through the city quicker. why not consider alternatives that accomplish both better traffic control and less freeway "barriers" separating and dividing neighborhoods.

  10. overrated. high end chain with mediocre food. locations are placed where the demographics are great and people with limited palettes flock. how many "special occasions" have i had to suffer through at brio tuscan grille. olive garden would be as satisfying, cheaper, and a quicker get away. even more insulting than the food and two hour (excruciating) dining experiences are the faux chic interiors and pretentious youngsters acting as if it's a five star restaurant. on every occasion (too many to count).....inconsistent service, cold food and long waits for refills and corrected orders. i do not understand why so many people like it.

Request for Proposals (docs and many links to more info):

    Toll Configuration (traffic and revenue):

things will get worse before whatever relief grand parkway will provide is on line. ditto jesse's sentiment that many will not be new to the area/perhaps already here; however, the area is growing substantially without exxon mobil. the traffic will not be pretty. (thanks to the poster who posted the above information in the grand parkway thread! i thought it relevant here too.)
