  1. Nothing concrete but more talks about Tilman Fertitta wanting to bring an NHL team here. Also, doesn't the Toyota Center's naming right expire this year? https://www.bisnow.com/houston/news/commercial-real-estate/tilman-fertitta-says-hes-in-serious-talks-to-bring-an-nhl-team-to-downtown-houston-122976
  2. Absolutely hate it and extremely annoyed :/ I understand free market and that business is business...... but this wave of gas stations popping up on every single prime real estate is really frustrating. There's a Texaco directly north of this property, a Shell directly east of this property, a Chevron 0.3 miles south of this property, and a Valero 0.3 miles north of this property, a Valero 0.4 miles northwest of this property, and an Exon 0.5 miles north of this property. Not to mention a new gas station planned at the former Golden Coral 0.4 miles south of this property. Just in the 0.4 mile radius of this proposed gas station, there will already be 7 gas stations....
  3. IMO, this location won't last very long, this is most definitely their most expensive lease in Houston considering its compromises an entire city block in Midtown. Looking at their entire Houston portfolio, most if not all of their locations consist of a small section of an entire retail strip center, which is obviously cheaper than renting out an entire building, let alone and entire building on an entire city block on one of the most expensive land in all of Houston. It just doesn't make any logistic sense.......unless they bought the property and are only using it as a real estate investment (like McDonald's).
  4. Im very curious what they're planning to do with that open space above the underpass. Would be a great spot for a little park but it looks like they blocked it off from the rest of the development?
  5. Being a mayor does not mean you're smarter than anyone. Really weird statement 😂
  6. I'm a little confused by his statement about Denver Harbor not having sidewalks. Google street view can easily show that there are definitely sidewalks on all their major streets, yes some are not in the greatest shape but I've seen worse on...Westheimer/Montrose area. If he's talking about residential streets without sidewalks, well, he should look at Rice Military/ Washington/Heights/ etc that are way denser and still don't have sidewalks. IMO, yes, sidewalks should be placed/ expanded everywhere throughout Houston, but his priorities doesn't make sense. Focus on the densest areas first, the areas where lots of people are actually walking like Gulfton, Washington, Heights, Montrose, etc. His statement sounded like...why are we expanding the sidewalks in Midtown when there are areas in Clear Lake without sidewalks....???
  7. Westheimer watching all these streets get rebuilt while being one of the worst major streets in Houston.
  8. Im so excited for this place but soooo nervous for the renderings. I would say its thee best BBQ in Texas (if you have better suggestions, plz let me know 😅). This will be the second time Terry Black's builds ground up, Lockhart was the first and.... honestly very hideous atrocious building/ site. I really like their Dallas location but it was just remodel of an already nice building. They have specified that it wanted to have ample parking, so I just hope they don't end up building near Laird st and make everything off shepherd as parking :/ especially since Shepherd is getting redone to be more pedestrian friendly.
  9. That would have been great too! Any type of increased density is always a plus in my book!
  10. More renderings! https://www.papercitymag.com/real-estate/ritz-carlton-residences-the-woodlands-exclusive-first-look-real-estate-coup/#500456
  11. SOO glad a gym is replacing 24's suite! There's no major gym in Midtown/ Museum district/ Montrose/ 3rd ward/ Eado. There's a Lifetime in downtown but.....very expensive. There's also an EOS fitness on Allen parkway but its very out of the way for a lot of people in the areas I mentioned. Plus, the whole point of having these urban/ walkable areas is to be able to walk to everyday essentials. Great news!
  12. So we should expect something like this, which is going to be exciting for kids and collectors!
  13. Did I ask? Stop trying so hard to seek validation, this entire page is you just going back and forth with others.
  14. UK signage North of Westheimer and outside of the zone suggested above. @j_cuevas713 is correct.
  15. A permit sign is up for "glenhaven estates plaza." I'm assuming they're planning on tearing down the exiting structure and build a shopping center..... hopefully i'm wrong
  16. I wish we could do this to the Pierce Elevated. Imagine if we could extend a canal from buffalo bayou down through midtown and create more greenways/ trials. One can only wish.
  17. More info on their website https://www.kelsey-seybold.com/newsroom-landing/archive/kelsey-seybold-announces-new-clinic-in-upper-kirby-district
  18. These 2 statements almost feel contradicting towards each other. Diversity itself, almost always creates culture. Think of the melting pot theory; different people from all over the world and the country come together to this city and share their own culture. For example, diversity is what allowed Houston to have the only China Town in the entire state. The only Mahatma Gandhi (Brown/ Desi) district in the entire state. Also, Houston has the 3rd largest concentration of consulates in the country, representing 86 nations (lots of culture to go around) (By FAR the most in the entire state) Our Theatre district is home to 9 world class performing arts organization with 12,000 seats (only NYC has more than us). Our Opera is the ONLY company in the world to win a Tony, 2 Grammy, and 2 Emmy awards. The NYT even called the Houston Grand Opera "the Jewel in the Culture Crown" The Houston Museum District is one of the largest in the country and boosts WAY more visitors than any other city in Texas BY FAR (no other Texas museums are even in the top 30 of most visited in the country) We have the highest ranked University in the entire state (Rice) We still have the largest Skyline in all of Texas by FAR Extremely less important, but Houston is one of the only cities in Texas with a "Midtown" neighborhood Kind of weird that considering all this^, you wouldn't consider Houston the culture center of Texas all because our leaders don't know what to do with the Astrodome and we're not building a new tall stick out the ground. By your definition, Austin has more culture than Paris or any other European city that isn't building a new skyscraper. Also, the idea that being a "blue collar city" (which I don't fully agree with) makes Houston less fit to being the culture center of Texas is extremely belittling. By that definition, you have to be rich to have culture? No culture in Morocco? Mexico? Egypt, Italy, Greece, Portugal, Hungry.... the list can keep going on poorer countries/ cities that have WAY more culture than ANY Texas city can even dream of having.
  19. Stopped by local foods on the corner of Kirby and Westheimer....this building already has a HUGE presence and its not even half way done yet!
  20. I'm not sure how related this is, but the Jack in the Box building across the street is getting renovated.
  21. I drove by to see Christmas lights with the family yesterday. Westheimer from Post Oak to Highland Village was decorated very beautifully! I really wish the Highland village aesthetic extended past Weslayan. Right at the Weslayan and Westheimer light, its like night & day.
