  1. Imagine whining about a luxury mid-rise going up in your neighborhood thats in the dead center of the 4th largest city in America....meanwhile, some people in Houston are living in cancer clusters fighting a years long battle (Kashmere Gardens/Deer Park/etc), some people are losing/lost their home due to eminent domain, some/A LOT of people aren't even able to buy homes in this economy. I understand we all have a right to an opinion and thats what this platform was intended for, but omg the entitlement??? Mentioning that the homes behind it are a "MILLION DOLLARS" is somehow supposed to make us shed a tear? Finding a way to also criticize a suburb (Fulshear) by saying its all cutie cutter now Daddy was a Yankee? Ok, does he want a cookie? Sorry to break it to you, but that doesn't make your argument more important than anyone else. May this building grow another 2 stories 🙏
  2. You can be a religious/ church-goer and still criticize something the church constructs/ designs 😂 you won't go to hell for saying the church's parking lot is ugly... i'm sure god would agree that it is in fact unwelcoming....its literally gated off from the entire neighborhood 😂 its not rocket science. Just because there is a lockable pedestrian gate directly in front of the church's entrance, doesn't make it welcoming... if anything you kind of proved that its unwelcoming.
  3. The sidewalks are legit soo narrow, you have to walk in a single file instead of side by side if you're walking with someone...... I cannot stand this roach mayor. Are we not paying thousands of dollars in taxes for these services? Our infrastructure is legit crumbling.... we can't seem to fix the traffic problem because we're told we just need more roads, the actual roads are pothole infested and falling apart, the side walks are abysmal, we have 3 nice parks in the entire city. Now the mayor wants to budget cut on an extra foot or 2 on wider side walks????
  4. I've always wondered why stores with westheimer frontage didn't take better advantage of it. Kona Grill would be a GREAT location for a cafe/ coffee shop, Forever 21 could do more with the exterior design of their store instead of just slapping on "Forever 21" on the building, the Oceanaire could have added a deck the same way Kona grill has one. A lot of missed opportunity honestly. The Galleria really needs to be revamped IMO, not the inside but the connection from the outside/inside (if that makes sense). Anytime I drive by the area, I see a lot of walkers either coming from their hotels, residences, or just going to a neighboring restaurant. The mall itself, feels extremely suburban in a sense that almost all entries are extremely far from the street (except 2 points I know), and you have to go through a sea of parking with angry/impatient drivers mad that they can't find parking. There's a lot of empty spaces in/around the mall, they should find a way to connect the mall with the surrounding area/community to make it easier to get into the mall. Also I know someone will try to be a smart ass and mention that parking will still be needed, etc, the mall can legit expand their garage/ build a new garage, there's no need for a mall that size/density to still have surface parking.
  5. According to this website https://mmgrea.com/houston-4q23/ (@urbannizer shared in another thread) this lot is in the planning stages for a residential building, expected construction start date is 06/01/2024. I'm not sure how reputable this is, but thought I'd just share and get the conversation going. (also, couldn't find an existing thread for this lot, but if there is, please feel free merge)
  6. This abandoned building is getting demo'd. I don't even recall the last time this building was occupied, it seems like it's been vacant for almost 20 years according to google maps.
  7. These 3 multifamily houses are getting demo'd. My guess is that it will eventually be either townhomes or some sort of larger multifamily.
  8. The good/bad thing is it won't be finished for another year, so at least you can enjoy the lifetime membership for another year 😂
  9. The gym space will now become an LA Fitness! It could either be their signature club or just a regular club. LA Signature clubs are way nicer, but since there is already a signature club not too far on Richmond, I'm assuming this will be a regular club. Either way, a win.
  10. Im really curious to see whats going to happen to these lots. Anything would be great.......except a parking lot...please
  11. I read that the cap parks in Austin will be paid by the city of Austin but mostly UT. If all goes accordingly, their cap park will be about 17 acres. I know we're in a similar boat, but I feel like we have a lot of big donors in this city (think memorial park). So I really hope some of them will step in and help foot the bill to make our little cap parks outstanding. In terms of the potential cap parks themselves, this would be a huge opportunity to create something completely unique to Houston on potential thee most prime lot in all of Houston. Very wishful thinking, but imagine if the convention center could eventually make a connection from discovery green to the potential cap park. Extremely wishful thinking, the park could look like this. In a city that gets this hot, we definitely need more interactive water features (the one in discovery green is way way too small for how packed it gets).
  12. Whats with these developers being cheap on landscaping/ greenery :( this legit looks like a warehouse in a business park.

  16. Dollar Tree plans to close 1,000 stores after taking $1.7B loss. Not sure if this will affect this location but it seemed a little relevant since they also mentioned they plan on shuttering stores in the coming years when their lease expires. https://www.bisnow.com/national/news/retail/dollar-tree-loses-nearly-2b-will-close-1000-stores-123306
  17. This has been approved by Harris County Commissioners. This lot (that was recently demolished) along with the northern lot (grass field that also used to have a building on it) and the southern lot (currently has 7 story building on it) will all be apart of a Memorial/ Park. The project indicates that the 7 story building off San Jacinto and Franklin will be demolished. https://communityimpact.com/houston/heights-river-oaks-montrose/government/2024/03/08/master-plan-approved-for-downtown-houston-park-to-become-lynching-memorial-site/
  18. Interesting, NRG will be called "Houston Stadium," AT&T will be called "Dallas Stadium," Sofi will be called "Los Angeles Stadium", and MetLife will be called "New York/ New Jersey Stadium" since FIFA refuses to acknowledge corporate stadium names. I personally like that better 🤷‍♂️ the city is better represented. https://www.si.com/nfl/texans/news/nrg-stadium-changing-names-for-2026-fifa-world-cup-houston-texans
