  1. Condos planned next to the Hilton in Nassau Bay: Canals of Taylor Lake progress (this is taking a ridiculously long time):
  2. It appears construction start is imminent. There is utility work occurring according to Tiara's Facebook story.
  3. Galveston Wharves Board of Trustees approved the engineering contract for the fourth cruise terminal and a parking garage. Connected to this, the port should have a contract with MSC within 30 days. https://www.galvnews.com/news/port-of-galveston-trustees-approves-5m-engineering-contract-for-fourth-cruise-terminal/article_2ce4a31c-9a75-5563-9237-ddc595f92ff7.html?block_id=531919 Additionally, in 2024, the port will demolish the ADM grain elevator, reopen the skywalk across Harborside Dr., and make some roadway improvements. https://www.galvnews.com/news/port-of-galveston-leaders-set-sail-for-2024-with-largest-ever-budget/article_054f0846-cf01-5225-9420-0e02ac5f1922.html
  4. Chicken N Pickle is quickly approaching completion. Here are a few renderings:
  5. I don't think it's unreasonable to think of this as just the first phase. The rendering is also clearly VERY preliminary. Looks more like a massing and lighting study accompanied by a drawing and site plan.
  6. The Port of Galveston Board of Trustees approved moving forward with the fourth cruise terminal on Tuesday. They deferred action on a $7 million contract for design and engineering services until after meeting with the City Council today (have not heard the outcome of that meeting). They will take action on that contract in November. Rendering and site plan for the fourth cruise terminal and garage: https://www.galvnews.com/news/trustees-vote-to-move-forward-on-fourth-cruise-terminal/article_543f3068-0ceb-5c5c-b0a8-68075549df13.html?block_id=531919 The board also approved a lease for the USS Texas to be moored at Pier 10, pending approval from the Army Corps of Engineers and pilots association. https://www.galvnews.com/news/port-approves-lease-discussions-for-battleship-texas-berth/article_65dcffee-cac3-59ce-81b7-38de4275ef52.html?block_id=531919
  7. “Harris County commissioners move forward with plan to revitalize NRG Park“ “Ideas discussed for the project included adding more green space, economic mixed-use areas instead of a massive parking lot that is empty most of the time, and looking to potential developments in the surrounding area, Precinct 1 Commissioner Rodney Ellis said.” “The HCSCC shall present a minimum of two alternative plans based on national best practices and examples to redevelop, revitalize and plan for the future of the NRG Park complex.” https://communityimpact.com/houston/bellaire-meyerland-west-university/government/2023/10/10/harris-county-commissioners-move-forward-with-plan-to-revitalize-nrg-park/?utm_campaign=Impact%3A Bay Area&utm_medium=email&_hsmi=277996572&_hsenc=p2ANqtz-9awro4JrkLDrI9jeJ6Q67xJkjNiV1RQHwOaVEPB_-kGBvRZXTVTwvygchb5QT5ivrg2cuPRctt-ClFNrbwAvtwFJXF-g&utm_content=277996572&utm_source=hs_email
  8. RREAF is seeking city council permission to add 278 homes on 63 acres adjacent to its Margaritaville resort development. https://www.galvnews.com/news/dallas-real-estate-firm-plans-278-homes-near-galvestons-east-beach/article_182b6a86-f2b2-5c4b-bb87-67c5abbd50ad.html
  9. I agree. Plus, if the parking needs are reevaluated in 5 years, 10 years, etc. and found to be lower than current capacity, parking space can be turned into other uses much easier than if the parking followed the perimeter of the site and wrapped around the buildings.
  10. Hopefully this will cool what seems to be one trustee's mission to kill the cruise terminal 4 project.
  11. Another plan to reimagine the Dome. This time as a sports entertainment village. https://abc13.com/astrodome-redevelopment-nrg-park-when-has-houston-hosted-super-bowl-stadium/13836055/#ln3al6ktjkqli1duby9
  12. The Wharves Board of Trustees will also be considering a CMAR contract at Tuesday's meeting for the fourth cruise terminal. There may be some drama here though as trustees have repeatedly delayed moving forward with the cruise terminal (and upgrades to an existing one) to chase a dream of additional cargo operations development despite cargo being on the decline in Galveston and tourism being on the rise (check the numbers in the agenda packet below and note Carnival's very recent plans to add another ship in Galveston). Just this year Del Monte has announced its exit (this is where cruise terminal no. 4 will go) and now the port has negotiated an early contract termination with ADM with potential plans to demolish the grain facilities. https://www.galvnews.com/news/agri-giant-adm-agrees-to-cease-port-operations-terminate-lease/article_8ce271c3-7a9a-52ac-8763-6ddc9a407dca.html
  13. Location and rendering of the central plant: There will be a deviation from the masterplan. The NSMV, the TS Lone Star State will be moored at a new dock on the other side of the boat basin: The new engineering building (I believe starting construction next year), will be located a bit closer to the current engineering buildings (and have a bit bigger footprint) than identified on the master plan:
  14. The city is in the process of finalizing the Northeast Gateway Redevelopment Plan, a city initiated planning effort of the area around the front of campus, centered around the Texas and University intersection. Hopefully this comes to fruition as this will vastly improve the entrance into campus and provide an expanded urban core for the city. https://www.cstx.gov/departments___city_hall/pds/planning/small_area_plans/northeast_gateway
  15. Here's the building and landscaping layout for the plan above. Of note, catty-corner to this, the Normandy Square apartments were recently under contract and the listing shows as no longer for sale. Could not confirm a deed change on Brazos CAD but rumors on local forum, TexAgs, state Normandy Square will be redeveloped into midrise/highrise apartments Additionally, it was marketed on Cruxes as a student housing development site, fueling the rumor of redevelopment to higher and better use. If so, excellent news for Northgate and it confirms my previous prediction in this forum. https://www.crexi.com/properties/802930/texas-normandy-square-student-housing-development-site
  16. Bryan is growing up and dreaming big! This is located at the corner of South College and Inlow, in Bryan's "North of Northgate" neighborhood. "The City of Bryan has partnered with Lero & Associates, Inc. to acquire property, utilities and entitlements, and plan the development in order to secure a master developer to assist in creating a high-density, mixed-use community. To visualize the redevelopment, the city has partnered with OMNIPLAN, a highly qualified architecture firm. The project will utilize one of Bryan’s most viable redevelopment opportunities, align with future growth of the community, and continue to incorporate strategic partnerships to create a captivating and prosperous master-planned development." https://www.bryantx.gov/new-mixed-use-destination-envisioned-for-the-city-of-bryan/?fbclid=IwAR2YplOPrWzKFCB0tZfPJEYXY59JMOapw3D7UXLBUhrRS6FqLX52IgjH73o_aem_Ae5-RY-xufdphapqd7_DFN9GPcVri0ZlT24IimFDq9fblbeAsr9HuUK4538NafBWbJk&mibextid=Zxz2cZ
  17. The Powder Keg launched an NFT sale last year to finance the construction of this version of the building. The open-air venue is a temporary building. The new building will be at 1300 Brittmoore. No update available since the launch just over a year ago. https://www.powderkegcollective.xyz
  18. Texas A&M Space Institute, which will be housed in this building, was approved with Dr. Nancy Currie-Gregg being named director. She's got a great reputation in Clear Lake and in Aggieland. Fantastic choice. https://theeagle.com/news/a_m/a-m-regents-establish-space-institute-200m-a-m-facility-to-be-built-near-nasa/article_4ffe7f5a-3c6f-11ee-9df8-17ad1d7d7e58.html#tracking-source=home-top-story
  19. St. Mary's Catholic Center's new church was recently dedicated.
  20. Pinecrest Texas A&M, southwestern intersection of Cherry Street and College Main. 20 floors, 605 beds. Great Complement to the Rev. College Main is really becoming a great urban street!
