  1. good for the people that play golf there...bad for all the kids in the second ward that wanted a more functional park with soccer, football, baseball and basektball facilites....Mason is already heavily used
  2. same here, the city is very green, the strip developments ruin it....
  3. yeah, stupid posts...looks like they belong in the burbs, not the inner city...i am close by and was going to give them a shot but those posts are off putting and i lean to the right
  4. idk but i always did like the shaded canopy portion of that building facing Cullen
  5. lol, structural PE here, i haven't done a parking garage design but i did have to analyze one for a construction addition we did to one of the interior floors...garage live loads vs office live loads is very non-intuitive until you run the math...typical garage live load is 40-50 psf with a point load of ~4 kips or so....for office live loads, its ~75-100 psf....if its a pool, i suspect the loads are way higher....anyways, we had to make our addition as light as possible
  6. got into both...UH gave me more money, ez choice /whocares
  7. nobody has a problem with building an IT/data center, which by the way, was just recently proposed....everybody HAS a problem with the way UT handled the land purchase...arrogance, must be nice having PUF moneyz
  8. I actually don't have a problem with UT building a campus in Houston, its a good thing for the city and competition for UH. I do have a problem with the current system of higher education funding in the state of Texas; so backwards.
  9. You're a smart person, I don't need to explain to you whether the PUF is fair or not, you already know the answer. You're right, I am happy with my decision, it was pretty easy. UH offered me a full engineering scholarship without PUF money whereas UT and A&M didn't. That's pretty impressive. Imagine what they could do for other minority/low income students in the greater Houston area with increased state funds. One more point. This is the perfect opportunity for UH and its alumni to start "flexing" its growing political muscle. Long gone are the days of UH being a pushover/beta/not doing anything. I noticed it during my undergrad years. There is a renewed sense of pride on Cullen Blvd. It might be a combination of increased academic standards and having a good football team; i'm not sure. But it is having a major effect on this new generation of Coogs.
  10. i think most alumni are upset at the current funding of higher education in Texas...it seems pretty unfair
  11. same here, picked UH Engineering....doing pretty good for myself now
  12. tired of the high united prices to mexico city, its only a 2 hr trip...will be switching to SW for sure
  13. i design bridges...why not make the trains less heavy and change the axle dimensions to match that of a hs-20 truck?
  14. They are trying to fix Cullen before the first game, the SB lanes are done, they should be starting on the NB lanes any day now.
  15. UH fan here, went to a couple of road games against Tulane when were with them in CUSA...the atmosphere at the dome was depressing....there were always more coog fans than Tulane fans...i'm sure that your new on campus stadium is going to increase the gameday atmosphere at Tulane football games
