  1. really, that's awesome, always wondered what your user name and avatar suggested.
  2. I think I played Little League and, or T-Ball at some fields near Hobby Airport, looking at Google Earth it may have been at what is labeled as Taub Park. This would have been in the early/mid eighties. I have many memories pimping those M&M's and chocolate candy bars door to door and at Almeda mall. Oh the times!
  3. How can you say Bourn is injury prone? Unless I'm missing something, one slight injury, if it's even real, does not make one injury prone. This team would be worse with Dunn. Slower, worse defense, more strikeouts, lower average, there is a reason the Reds are bad and he's a part of it. This offense will be a lot better when Wigginton comes back.
  4. I think the answer means more than that. I am just trying to keep it real. Sometimes, in someplaces, when our darker skin bretheren move into a neighborhood in numbers, (let's say using your numbers) for instance, if the number goes over 12% some people (not just white folk) get uncomfortable and move. At some point this trend multiplies because for whatever reason a certain portion of the populous likes to live with people they are comfortable with. So now the demographics for that neighborhood are near the 40%, 50%, 60% and all of the sudden no one feels comfortable, (There are burgalur bars on the windows for instance) so everyone who can moves down the street to the new shiny neighborhood (into the biggest mortgage they can afford, out of fear) and the original neighborhood continues to decline. Fear becomes reality sometimes by our actions. I am just trying to be candid about people's opinions I have heard about the area. I really hope this development revitalizes the area and people of all colors continue to move there and create there own reality of west pearland. I think the heads look corny too, hopefully once they are incorporated into a theme and some landscaping they will look patriotic? I asked a guy at work about your population quiz, he guessed 26%
  5. They were surprised and or turned off by the number of african americans living and or shopping in the area.
  6. You just explained where the "less appealing demographics" brerrabbit mentioned come from. Honestly I have several friends that have looked at moving to the area and this is the biggest deterent for them. They are surprised driving into Shadow Creek Ranch at the "diversity".
  7. I vaguely remeber this as well. I think it did have mountain in the name.
  8. Truth be told, Wandy's first start of the season in San Diego was not that bad, so I have hope. As I remember there were a couple of balls that should have been caught to end innings. He gave up 4 runs in that game and struck out 6 in only 5 innings, by the way, we won that game.
  9. Astros starting pitching team ERA minus Roy Oswalt = 2.59 just trying to be positive. Lidge must have been laughing in the Philly bullpen. Maybe Roy will turn it around tonight. And Hunter Pence will wake up from his struggles.
  10. do you know what a dugout is? are you sure you weren't sitting behind/above the dugout? Why is it that typical Houston sports fans can only complain after we win?
  11. To the OP, as far as the title and description of this thread, 1. By definition all teams only have one Ace pitcher. 2. Roy Oswalt has been our worst pitcher on the staff. He has given up 21 hits in 12 innings and has a 6.00 era. But it's early. the bright side is the rest of the starting staff has looked good and are exceeding most peoples expectations. Though this has not translated into wins yet, as we have faced some tough starting pitching to start the season especially in San Diego thus they have not scored enough runs to make the game easy. Lets see how they do at home. I hope Oswalt is not injured
  12. My wife worked recently for Southhampton Montessori in the Rice Village area. Seems like a nice place. It's on Quenby
  13. I remember the dark gorilla house, kind of scared me as a wee little one, and the monkey/ape cages in the middle, seems we had more chimps and baboons then. I do appreciate our Zoo though, probably should have not been free for so long, I love the park setting and the ponds, plants ,trees, and great volunteers. While my son is not old enough to appreciate it, We strolled through the expansive new (since I have been there last) children's area and petting zoo and that looks great. Ssullivan has a good point too about the size the zoo is allotted, there is only so much they could do with the area, and since they have started charging they have been doing more improvements in recent years. Lastly, for the money, in my opinion, it is a great inexpensive way to spend a day outdoors with the family.
  14. Enjoyed a beautiful day at the Zoo. I thought I would share a picture or two.
  15. Sorry, but Alief never looked like Cinco Ranch, (well, before it was developed it probably did) As you know, Cinco Ranch is a master planned community, so the comparison just isn't there. Maybe you could point out to me some upper middle priced enclaves in Alief but I can't see the resemblance. Why are you begrudging the fact that you have to live in "crappy plastic suburbia" would you be better off in Alief?
  16. I believe for a while this was a campround for kids in the early mid-ninties. I worked at the YMCA for a while in pearland and I see to recall a campground in that area we would take the kids to.
  17. And there is a new Berryhill's open in the Villagio development at Westheimer Parkway and Peek rd.
