I'm curious if there have been any actions taken or even statements made by Rice's new administration that show they are reorganizing Rice's direction?

This sounds like typical campus rumor mill that spins like crazy when a university gets a new President.

Somewhat related; the new President has pretty cool video  on this page:

He looks very much like former Rocket Mario Elie!

Lots of people who travel regularly (especially for business) end up with a preferred hotel chain for points reasons. That translates to Marriott, IHG, Hilton, Hyatt, etc.

That can end up being a surprisingly strong influence in hotel choice.

Definitely. I paid for my entire 3-week honeymoon around the world with points/miles! .

    https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2023/04/24/the-ion-leasing-update.html

"The Ion District, Houston’s innovation hub at 4201 Main St. in Midtown, is quickly approaching 100% leased status. Ten new tenants have recently signed on to lease space in the Ion, accounting for a combined 35,000 square feet in the 266,000-square-foot building.

With the new leases, the Ion is now 86% leased.

Additionally, construction crews are currently working on building a new lab at the Ion. Rice University’s Nexus Lab will be designed for prototyping and scaling-up technologies, according to a news release."

Do we know who the new tenants are?

As someone who used to work at a gas station and car repair shop combo, isn't it weird to build a restaurant on such a lot? I thought oil and such leaking into the ground is a big deal, or do they have to remediate some of that as they construct. Sorry if this is a dumb question, I just know it was difficult for the owner of the place I worked out to sell the property.

Let’s just say the “Gulf oysters” at Clark’s will be authentic, if you know what I mean.

The building looks pretty much finished, a crew was working on the landscaping adding plants around the area. No giant Big Tex mural though 🤷‍♂️ ☹️

I wonder what the plan is for the blank canvas highway-facing side of the building. Another Big Tex sign?

thank you! so cool to have apartments back there! those are going to be some lucky residents!

i have mentioned this before but my close friends dwayne, john and ron occupied the 2 rooftops apartments above Cutloose Hair which is next door to the Blue House back in the late 90s early 2000's and man that such a blast to hang there everyday up on the patio and watch the world of Montrose go by. fun times.

It’s going to smell like brown butter waffle cones 24/7.

TxDot originally (way before COVID)  planned to raise the bridge higher as the plan also included lowering 527 along with lowering 59 where it crossed Main, Fannin and San Jacinto-- then putting a "cap" over the lowered parts. TxDot made no provision for improvements of the surface caps.
The Civic associations of Montrose along with those south of 59 formed a coalition( Similar I guess to coalition Ashby)  against  to protest.  Since then TxDot had  wayleighed those plans. Is this a new TxDot plan for Montrose bridge?

But wouldn’t lowering that section of 529 and the Spur be in the best interest of residents that live there? In other words, doesn’t sinking it reduce the noise and the eyesore of looking at a freeway?
