A trick for winter is to do a lot of baking of meals. Use your oven more. The heat from the oven in conjunction with your home heating system will help heat the house and keep the heating bill done as well Bake things like roast or brisket chicken etc etc etc. It works -

I like the look of those houses. Very 1980's Looking at the photos, it makes me think of the movie Poltergeist :) -

Thanks for the info and the pics Im a big lover of trees and greenery, but i have to say, trees that close to the house would raise a red flag for me. Leaves on the roof, tree limbs growing over the roof, brushing against it and causing damage....not so good. -

Yikes, i leave the country for a week and the city goes to pot! Im curious as to whats being done to combat crime, violent crime in particular in the city. If the prisons and the court houses are not overflowing with criminals, again violent ones in particular, then not enough is being done!

Very secure I was wondering if they had done anything to it since the big flood/Allison. -
Anyone know whats going on with 1301 Franklin, the Harris County Sheriffs Depart. ? Is that building still in use or is it totally abandoned?

Cesar Cazares Mansion At 5006 Fulton St.
Houston1stWordOnTheMoon replied to rps324's topic in Other Houston Neighborhoods
I dont know about the immigrant thing, but theres definetly a trend here. In mostly black and hispanic dominated areas, large numbers of well to do black and hispanic Americans are choosing to build in areas that they have grown up in as kids as opposed to going into other established areas. The wealth of the city of Houston is no longer held by a white majority, it is more diverse and wide spread and i think thats a good thing Some people are making the decision to build in and beautify areas they know and can do it on a VERY large scale for a lot less money, atleast initially Of course once the building really starts, the cost will rise :) -
Yes, but it is not so clear. The larger i make it, the more distorted/grainier it gets :( :(
