  1. "to read my other writings see articles written under my pen-name "crazy shit I think of while other people are high cause it's funny to talk to them about this shit when they're high" be prepared to read about other subjects though, like "what if the ocean was filled with lemonade", and "can you really feel your hand with your other hand" "

I'm kind of high right now. Can you explain what gravity is?

  2. Ocean Tower demo set for Sunday

    December 09, 2009 4:12 PM

    Carl Phillips/Island Breeze

The long anticipated date for the implosion of Ocean Tower has been set for Sunday, Dec. 13th at approximately 9 a.m., according to a Town of South Padre Island press release.

    ...

Officials recognize that this event is one of significance due to the tower being the largest concrete building ever imploded throughout the world. A large number of spectators are expected and security measures are planned.

    ...

Padre Boulevard will be closed both north and south of the site Sunday morning at 7 a.m. and will reopen following the demolition when deemed appropriate by the Texas Department of Transportation. There will no unauthorized traffic allowed inside the quarantined area after 7 a.m. until authorities have ensured travel will be safe.

The date is subject to change if unforeseen weather changes make conditions unsafe for the implosion.

  3. Leaning Island condos to come down later this month

    December 03, 2009 4:28 PM

    By CARL PHILLIPS, Island Breeze

The explosives are on the way and the Ocean Tower could come tumbling down as early as Dec. 12.

"We’re ready for the explosion," Mark Luisso of Controlled Demolitions Inc. told the South Padre Board of Aldermen this week. "We’ve done this all over the world with no serious accidents."

  4. Took the family and some of their friends to see the bats come out from under the bridge today. They came out when it was pretty dark so I couldn't get any shots of them. But, here are some shots of the surroundings while we waited.

Sorry for the blur in some of these, I didn't take the tripod. Tried to keep as steady as I could but to no avail.

You can't make out the bats in this photo. They're just too fast.

  5. Just saw that they put up a new wooden fence around the old Mervins area. There are also a couple of bulldozers in the empty lot.

Looks like they might start construction on the outdoor section of the mall soon.

Interesting that they tore down the Olive Garden for more parking space. Perhaps Olive Garden is going to build in the new outdoor mall area.

    Anyone know?

  6. The guys that were at the front when I got there allowed me to take photos.

But, when I left there was a different guy there, and he said I wasn't suppose to take photos. I thought he was going to make me delete all the photos.

So, I guess it just depends on who's manning the ship.

  7. Went to Houston Baptist University today to visit the Lee and Grant exhibit.

To be honest, I was not aware that this campus even existed until I looked up where the exhibit was located. I'm not from here originally.

They would not let me take any photos of the exhibit. Pissed me off because this was the reason why I took my camera. So, afterwards I walked around this small

campus and took some photos of the buildings. (the campus is located in the middle of the triangle created by the intersections of Beechnut, Fondren and I-59)

    Here they are:

  8. I don't know if this has been asked already, since there are now 10 pages of responses, but,

Is there a link to "view recent posts" like there was in the old site. That's the first place I would visit on the old site.

If there is I can't find it in the new site.

    adios

Never mind. I think I just found it. It looks like it's located in the drop down menu next to our names, top left side of the screen page.

    Thx
