  1. We really tried to give Andy's a chance given how close it is to home. We just didn't enjoy the food and the restaurant seemed dirty. I've seen that sentiment reflected by many others so it seems like the problem is difficulty attracting customers rather than just something with parking or easements. Other businesses thrive in our area with similar parking while taking their vendor deliveries through the front doors. Maybe that's a rallying cry their customers can get behind though. A one time GoFundme wont delay the inevitable unless they get more people showing up. Maybe a fresh start elsewhere will give them the change they need to succeed again.
  2. Email your council person and the mayor as well.
  3. Here’s a photo of the progress as of last night.
  4. Heads up, the post you replied to is 13 years old.
  5. https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/1141-E-11th-St-Houston-TX/23463582/ Relisted with the same nice rendering for lease.
  6. Video posted this month from WeBuild, the company contracted for construction. https://texashighspeedrail.webuildgroup.com/en
  7. Theyve had what appears to be a blank COA application notice against the bricks for more than 6 months now. I dont know if it was filled out at one time and the writing is faded or if they just have it there and havent applied yet...
  8. This appears to be no longer listed on loop net. No progress on the building itself and a violation notice on the west side where the plastic still covers the building. Perhaps they had issues with Historic? Unfortunate to see such a nice building sit without repair. Anyone have any information?
  9. Nice rendering of the remodel and floor plans from the lease brochure for the updated corner building at 11th and Studewood (formerly Dacapo's then Carmalita's). This building has sat vacant ever since a truck drove through the side of the building and started a fire in June of 2019. https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/1141-E-11th-St-Houston-TX/20976546/ The main changes from before appear to involve continuing the window's and awning around the Studewood facing side of the building, opening up the floor plan inside, and taking parking spots off Studewood to add patio seating and widen the sidewalk. It is marketed as a restuarant - 2,108 sf.
  10. I drove by Fitzgerald’s this evening and construction fencing is up around the property as well as what appears to be the two residential properties immediately behind Fitzgerald’s on E 6 1/2 st. I’m speculating, but it looks like in preparation for demo of at least some of the structures if not all. That’s a big plot of land if combined. Has anyone found anything on what is planned?
  11. There's irony in your statement above. Canino's is an Italian name and the roots of the market are in Italian and German farmer's coming together and starting the co-op. "The Airline market's shoppers and its offerings have reflected the area's changing demographics. Initially the site served the Italians, Polish, Eastern Europeans and Anglos who lived in the area. But by the 1980s, the market was catering to the Tejano, Mexican-American and Latino populations living in the Heights and Greater Northside." The market is changing, just like it has before, to serve the surrounding demographics. The continued existence and growth of the market is great in my opinion and hopefully will bring more local produce back into the area and support local farmers. https://www.houstonchronicle.com/local/gray-matters/article/Farmers-markets-in-Houston-A-history-11636755.php
  12. They've placed construction fencing up around the property. Seems like site work may begin soon.
