This is affordable housing (HHA).  50% of the 350 units will be market rate, the rest affordable units.  Waiting on building information...

Also, last I heard, Lovett was part of this deal as well.

Though I think affordable house is greatly needed. It is unbelievable how much of the affordable housing the city needs is getting stuffed into east downtown and the east end.

I have gone there to pick up various items (not to the pharmacy though) and have never seen more than 1 other shopper in the store - I hope they have enough business to keep them going.  Hopefully it's just that they are new and word hasn't spread that they are open yet...

I have seen a few people in the store at the same time. But still nothing like it is at other CVS stores. Hopefully it can maintain until at least the apartments are complete and other tenants start to move into the building. That should help a lot.

    Is the CVS open then?

We moved out prescriptions to this CVS and it was the most relaxed experience I have ever had a retail pharmacy. Most pharmacies are so busy after leaving work and the lines are so long. Many retail pharmacists complain about not having time to eat or use the bathroom because of how busy they are.

There was no line and I spoke with the pharmacist and he said he always looks forward to being scheduled at this CVS. So if anyone in the area was deciding whether to move their prescriptions, do it. Trust me. Heck, if you work downtown you can easily pick up things here too. And they have a drive through window.

The density of Midtown didn't attract an H-E-B, but hopefully the hole in their map should bring an H-E-B somewhere in the area - and hopefully in East Downtown

But they got a Whole Foods. In addition to the Randalls. I would assume the highway reconstruction would put any decision by HEB to move to East Downtown on hold.

Tangentially related, but I've been really frustrated with the EaDo Management District. I've been interested in listening in on board meetings and potentially getting involved. I've called and emailed multiple times for information, but they always say they'll follow up and then never do. The website is always out of date. I even offered to help run the website for free (this is what I do for a living) and they said they'd follow up and then never did. I was able to virtually attend one meeting a long time ago and that's all the luck I've had.

Is anyone else involved or go to/listen in on these meetings?

I tried to do this myself when I moved to Eado in 2017. I hit the same brick wall. All I know is that Shahin Naghavi was on the board when I looked it up last, he is a real estate agent/developer for several lots in Eado.

  6. On Lamar and Dallas they have installed new light poles and ripped out all the grass and dug holes for trees. All around the east village development.

But, the work has been dormant for at least 3 months. They did not replace any of the grass they removed, they haven't planted any trees, and the light poles aren't functional yet. It really looks bad. And to top it off, they put a light pole right in front of the Houston sign next to 8th Wonder.

I thought maybe they were waiting out the colder months to plant in the spring but that has passed and now we are into summer and the hottest months of the year.

  7. I walked through the Shops yesterday and they are full steam ahead on all the renovations inside. I will try and snap a picture the next time I am there. Wanted to let the folks know that regularly update the forum.

I don't know what's taking over the unit where video arcade and bar EightyTwo was located (1201 St Emanuel St, Ste 110). However I think it could be a bar, a club, or maybe both.

The group behind Coconut Club in Austin is possibly opening a bar or club concept at East Village.

I haven't come across any permits or leasing brochures confirming this. Perhaps more details will be released in the coming months.

Well the exterior of 82 (which was previously all black) has been painted a bright pink color. So some work is being done at that location.

Building permit issued for "Opening Day Bar" in the former Lucky's Pub location.

    • St. Patrick’s Day Festival at Lucky’s Pub | St. Patrick’s Day, March 17 – The EaDo venue opens again for the return of the St. Patrick’s Day party, featuring 2 stages of live music, bagpipers, food trucks and plenty of green beer across 3 city blocks. $10 and up. 6am (yep, in the morning) to 2am.

    So confused.

After opening a highly successful string of bars called Lustre Pearl in ATX — the first of which did for Austin’s Rainey Street district what Pearl Bar did for Wash Ave — Dunlap is rumored to be returning to Houston to open a Lustre Pearl outpost in EaDo. According to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, Lustre Pearl will open at 2016 Dallas St., across from Indianola/Miss Carousel and Truck Yard.

Austinites Travis Tober and brothers Brandon and Zane Hunt plan to open a Houston outpost of their popular Nickel City bar, which currently operates on 11th Street in Austin and recently expanded to Fort Worth. The dive-bar-style hangout offers a menu of reasonably priced bar food like sliders, tots, Coneys and crinkle-cut fries. It’s slated for the mixed-use development at 2910 McKinney St.

I guess now we just sit back and wait for the next big rain event to see how effective all of the work, and money, that has been poured into this project to help mitigate flooding pays off. With the addition of detention properties with the capacity  to hold approximately 3.5 billion gallons of water, the widening and contour changes in the bayou, and the structural changes to most of the bridges, I feel very positive about it and hope that we'll have excellent results.

I know the citizens of Meyerland, Braes Heights, the med center, Riverside Terrace are all hoping for its success.

How much of the work was done after the last big rain event that caused widespread flooding (I think Harvey)?
