  1. I drove by the old Shamrock location today, and was hungry, so I was thinking of a place to eat. As I cruised South main, my mouth began to water ( Just in memory ) for a pizza from Vallian's!! Man, they had the best pizza you ever ate! I believe they were at South Main & Holcomb, on the East side of the underpass. I'll never forget what a special treat it was to be able to go there. Anyone got any memories to share? I was always curious of what happened to the restaurant, and the Vallian family. Yuuuuum, Yum!

    BEST PIZZA I EVER ATE!

  2. Thanks for your response about Night Hawk.

I think you're right - it may have been at the Atchafalaya/Landry's location on Westheimer.

I believe that The Frisco Shop in Austin is closing soon, too. I remember somebody mentioning that to me the last time I ate there a few months ago. Really a shame.

the frisco is still open in austin....

  3. Goode Company BBQ on I-10 is not in the city of Houston. I think it is in Hedwig Village, but it may be Bunker Hill.

people smoke alot at luling bbq on richmond in HOUSTON.....there is no enforcement of that law..the restaurant manager can inforce it but the city does not...it appears to be another law that means zippity do dah....

  4. well most electricians should tell you that your circuit breakers ratings should be lowered as well. for instance if the aluminum circuit previously had a 20 amp circuit breaker, it should be lowered to 15 amp to lessen the likelyhood of high heat. Aluminum expands and contracts more than copper which also causes the connections to fail more. so theoretically, the lower rating will prevent higher temperatures and hence less contraction/expansion problems.

    good point!

  5. aluminum wiring is not the problem! the problem is the connections ,ie. light fixtures, switches, outlets, junction boxes etc. these houses used connectors designed for copper wiring which is a big problem.. all that needs to be done is contact a licensed electrician who can repair a average sized home (2500sq ft) probably in a day...i have 2 houses with aluminum wiring that have had the connections corrected with no problem....

  6. I think this was discussed before, but wasnt there a Panjo's on Westhiemer where some strip club no sits. For some reason I remember it being right there.

Anyone remember the Dark Horse Bar. It was on Richmond (now one of the many Sam's bars). My Step father was a small investor and an oft visitor.

yes...i dated a waitress from there (dark horse) briefly...

  8. I just was on S. Shepherd last night and happened to pass a Restaurant just north of Westheimer called, Red Lion. It was a smaller house-looking building than their old location but still a good size. The sign had that same lion on it as the sign in the picture above. So I'm thinking it's the same restaurant, reopened in a new location. I didn't get more than a quick glance at it as I was driving and had to pay attention to the road!

the red lion family now operate the mucky duck

  9. But this project is the not the same project as the Orion and never was. The Orion was suppose to be back behind the Sterling Bank building. This project is 300-500 yards East down Memorial.

if that's the case i stand corrected....the sales office was behind the bank however i have always beleived this to be the orion location....
