  1. I thought that subways were heavy rail and isnt the London underground a subway system.? I've only been to one place with subways (I dont know what subways are anymore) I'll just say similar to London or New York. That was in Mexico and t seemed like t was fast but it was convenient cos there were bus routes to take you anywhere, unlike some areas of here. Note. I would not think that freeways should be dismantled i just think that they should focus on more trains instead of highways but not abandon highways Other thing that could be possible would be make bus routes from far places to the stations. Unfortunately the fundingwould have to be a lot more but.. idk... it'd be pretty cool.
  2. So.. here's something that i think some people including me would totally like.. except txdot and many public-transport-phobic people.. meaning It probably won't happen in the next 1000 years Subway system for Houston(similar to new York subway. Paris metro, Mexico city metro, London underground or Berlin sbahn). Not all areas are covered but.. I made it. and i don't know if it's good for others but it is on my opinion. Besides there are some that i might have forgotten but yeah.. just saying..
  3. Meaning burying the highway isn't beneficial because the use of the tunnel is for cars to go through it. If the tunnel were a park then it would be fine.? All of these 1.5 years I thought that it was about the damn structure, meaning okay it's there stop complaining you probably moved there after it was built, deal with the damn thing every neighbourhood has issues. If cars are the issue, why are elevated highways the only highways on which people put all of their hate. Why not put your hate in at grade highways and tunnels too, if the cars are the problem. Why only elevated highways.? For example tunnels. They're damn hell cos I just get so nervous when I'm on one. Theyre ugly inside and the sound is bad and i just hate spaces thst are closed in like that, but just for thst i wont ask to destroy a tunnel. Elevated highways... I don't see anything wrong with them except that... they don't make them look nice below. If they would at least paint them and make them look nice instead of leaving them like that after construction is finished... Psychological barrier is just one excuse to complain about it it's not really there.. reminds me of those people who want the airports to be removed because a plane goes over your house. The noise isn't an issue at least for me even though my ears are sensitive to noise. So that shouldn't bother people who have normal ears. How else can you justify that elevated highways are a barrier and how can you justify that card are what makes them a barrier. Explain cos i won't change my mind unless there's a reasonable explanation. And no parks isn't one cos we have plenty of public parks, we just need small neighbourhood parks in some neighbourhoods that don't have them. Just saying. Edit: And you should have said thousands cos there are led than 300k vehicles per year on that highway, and there's no way that millions of people will visit that park, even NASA doesn't get a million visitors per year. How will a lame park get millions of visitprs per year I guess thousands may be more accurate. Maybe ten thousands but yeah. I mean.. just saying.
  4. ..... I wish bad words were appropriate..... At least you should have been nice... about me trying to apologise. So i take my apology back... When I look under an elevated highway I just see the highway above and I'm thankful that it's above ground so i can go to th other side, but you guus... when you look at one all to seem to see is Idk. Some type of Berlin wall and a landmine between the wall.... oridk... But... if I should stop favouring highway engineering... i shouod give up my damn stupid future cos unwanted to focus on highways and trains and that crap that everyone hates.... at least i I haven't started any college or university cos it'd be a waste of money if I had already started it... Also.. why are you saying the pierce elevated is a barrier if the sky park isn't a barrier, the damn structure is still there... I don't understand humans anymore..(look below) since what seems to be a barrier is the cars not the highway menaing, even if the highway is below ground it's still a barrier cos it's not about the structure, it's about the damn cars... this makes me be against the project more and more.. And i take my apology back and I'm not apologizing anymore...
  5. Ehh.. I wasn't talking about freeway lanes. Sorry i didn't specify I was talking about train lanes like subway lanes, like they have in other cities blue lane, red lane, that kind of stuff.. I'm sorry for not specifying well. cos I didn't explain well. Like build one or 2 subway/metro/underground/over ground (whatever you call it) lane, let's say the blue and red lane with one station that connects both lanes so people can transfer trains, then when they get more crowded and if they work then build another one that intersects both lanes lets say purple lane and keep doing it like that. By the way I don't support the i-45 rerouting at all, i just... I'm sorry for liking highway engineering... And being really bad at public transportation... I'm sorry. I don't know how the hell I can explain better. But im sickof explaining everything and then everyone misunderstands and comments only in the bad stuff and I'm sick of creating alternatives for the project and no one bothers to look at them and stuff... Sorry. I'm sorry....
  6. Idk.. I'm sick of this and I know I was convinced that trains and subways don't work.. If you make it like Paris, Mexico city London or Tokyo or places like that. And since Houston has so many businesses districts then trains should be like freeways. Some from suburbs to downtown and some Of them could work as loops around the city. The disadvantage is. Too many people use cars.. And it would take a while for people to start using the train, that's a possible reason why nobody wants to build a subway or metro or light rail or however you call it system.. besides it would take so much money to build so many lanes to make it an extensive train system as big as the London underground or the Paris metro. Also. The metro buses aren't so popular because they don't go far in the suburbs. And they're expensive (1.25 for local trips and 4 for park and ride zone 4) and cos you may take the bus to go to work yes, but the nearest stores and shops and everything is really far for most people (my nearest Wal-Mart is 2 miles away, the nearest small shop is 1 mile away, id be willing to walk that far but most people wouldn't so what's the solution? Yes. A car, but that can't be changed because it's not Mexico, it's not new York it's not Europe. Meaning everything is far) so since they've a car they must think what's the point of taking a subway or a bus if I've a car. That is what makes it impossible to build a subway system So what's a great solution to build trains Build one on the busiest route. Or the 2 busiest routes, then after they get congested then build another lane on another route (as long as they get connected with othersubway lanes at at least one station so people can change trains easily instead of walking a lot) I'll stop talking By the way I still oppose the project and I still support the pierce elevated and nothing will make me change my mind. Ever. Thank you for not reading. Bye
  7. Okay fine I'll delete my post... i assume you're talking to me. Beneficial haha I've never heard a funnier joke. Yes i write what i think and i can't even soeak English it seems. Whatever... English will never be beneficial in my life. At least explain a readon why those craps should need to be demolished. I'm totally againsy tbay unless there's a reasonable reason. That crap will be flooded easily anyway no matter how muchyou do there's no way... Ughh I'm stopping talking... I never win vos you're damn ignorant so i stip talking. Bye. Btw i despise this city i don't even kniw why i try to make it better and not ruin it withthat project.... I despise all of this. And thos project isn't the exception. Bye
  8. I've never seen that park but I've gone underneath that thing but i hate tunnels cos they're terrifying.. Yes i said that i forfot i said that shit and I'm done. I'm sorry for even talking. (Also cos you only reply when i say something thati don't care about and never about other crap i said) and for Grting on this thread. Thank you I dont csre if im wrong im a stupid student who's not even experiences with engineering like you guys so that's why I'm wrong 200% of the time... Honestly the tree roots may still grow. Whatever I'm wrong cos that ugly fake park in dallas exists Now I'm sorry fot forgetting To stop posting and goodbye... Thank you. And I hopethere's opposition on tonight's meeting.
  9. I realised something... They out trees on the caps over the highway, that's impossible, there's not enough space for the roots to grow when tbe trees grow, they picture it as a cool treeful park but that can't happen, it'll look like a fake park. Grass cam because the roots aren't as large, but trees will eventually grow for the roots to reach the structure and the trees will die or the roots can damage the structure. I'm noy saying i support it i still oppose this project.
  10. So.. Hi. So . They've posted a video about this stupid project that really.. it's not a project. It's crap.. It's the end. They've posted the bloody video = they're 100% fornsure doing the project and i can't stop it. I tried, but hey. Thanks for reading my ideas haha. that was sarcasm.. they were total disaster. at least thanks for the only 2 people who agreed with me about the project.. I hope txdot goes broke. And i wish them bad luck on the project.. Just saying. Goodbye. Thus is my last post on the thread.
  11. Honestly. . I saw the schematics and they're still ugly. I still despise it with all my heart, all my soul and yeah. Whether the previous statement was offensive or not i don't care. I hopw and I'll pray that they don't get the funding..
  12. Why not build the 45 connectors to us 59 South which would be parallel to the i-10 to make the pierce elevated only carry through traffic. I've suggestedthat before. At least reply to that idea. Just saying..
  13. There are already various parks meaning that isn't a priority but their and downtown act as if it were a priority, Boston didn't have enough parks so it made sense, in New Orleans the highway destroyed a park so it makes sense, but Houston already has many parks so parks aren't a priority, Or at least only bury the 59 but the pierce is necessary. As long as it doesn't look to take or too modern.
  14. I swear that the hell.. destroy a highway to build a stupid park is stupid there are already enough parks in downtown, And why don't they have common sense, they take excessive right of way, but that doesn't matter cos the companies in downtown Houston are selfish and dont care about what happens and now the majority has to face the disadvantages because txdot doesn't realise that the pierce is needed... Whatever, hell this project. That photo looks like trash.. yes that last sentence is meant to be offensive.
  15. This is totally true, I like this. Maybe the 610 East could be renumbered as i-45 and widened to be able to carry the extra traffic the bad thing is that it would need to modify 5 interchanges including possible full reconstruction of 4 of them (i-45/610, 610/255, 59/610 and 45/610n) I th8nk that the i-10/610 mightnot need such huge reconstruction.. also it would include the reconstruction of the ship channel bridge if lanes are added. That would be expensive but the speed limit wouldn't be lowered and the right of way taking would be less. There would also be a need to fix various bottlenecks in downtown, like at I 45 and us'59 And i'45 And Allen pkwy.. eliminate most bad merges and left exits/entrances. Take off one lane from pierce street to give space for a reconstructed pierce 4 lanes wide. As well as making the i-45 inside the 610 turned into like business route or an i-245 or I don't know Also the i-45/610 North interchange could be kind of like a high five with a hov connector and same with the one at the South except it wouldn't have so many changes... like the i-45 north. I'm just saying. The US 59 might need widening though... yeah... I suck atexplaining well.
  16. Well... onthe txdot project traffic is improved cos in the 45 there would be 3 lanes in the narrowest point, the thing I did would be also 3 lanes, but traffic taken away from an earlier point. Thus it is improved. I wouldn't widen the pierce and well.. never mind this project sucks thank you for not asking any doubts which is why you assumed that I'd widen the pierce when I wouldn't actually. But I give up think whatever the hell you think besides the txdot plan sucks because of the curves that have to go on the 45..those already slow down traffic.. But since you agree then I must be wrong like always cos I suck at highways and everything that. I say is wrong and when I don't agree with something every one whos against me is right. I hate life.
  17. Well... then why not widen the 59. Preserve the pierce, eliminate the ramps from the i-45s to the us-59s and from us-59 North to the i-45n amd put them parallel to the i-10 As direct connectors similar to the ones in the us-290/i-610/i-10 connectors and the pierce would be for through traffic only. If you want to get an idea of it look at the photo that I think ive uploaded ⬇ yes maybe half of a block wide of right of way would be taken but that's better than the entire right of way and an entire neighbourhood (idk if its a neighbourhood or apartment complex) if you don't understand the drawing or the writing that's not my problem I made it as clear as possible. Just saying I mean I'm 101% sure that no one will agree with me but I'm just saying...
  18. They're actually putting downtown interests over the rest of the city, they were the ones who forced the stupid organisation to take off the pierce from downtown, it would be more convenient for the rest of the city including EaDo to preserve the pierce. Although some lanes may need to be added to the 59/10 corridor even with the pierce preserved.. Just saying..
  19. I know no one has posted here cos it's pointless.. This project totally sucks I want to get all out, I hope that the people who came up with this project get fired, because it'll totally kill downtown Houston and east downtown, and demolish an exaggerated right of way amount 19 blocks at least, am emtire neighbourhood and yeah But really thinking about it. It's a highway of course it won't be pretty what do they really expect gold and sparkles..? They totally do, itsa highway it's not meant to be freaking pretty, but its not meant to be ugly either, and it's dark below the highway..have you no common sense..?put freaking bright lights to make up for that... have freaking common sense lights can fix the problem.. when it's dark below the highway. I guess the reason why I love elevated highways and I don't complain about them is.. I'm not rich and I grew up where even small overpasses were fascinating. But here overpasses are seen as an ugliness that must be demolished. If it's there then leave it it was built almost 50 years ago most people near there moved there after the highway was built.. and if they chose that then get the he'll over it cos if you chose to live there the deal with the difficulties... So my final words will be.. Txdot.. you and your plan both suck yes this is meant to offend you.. Goodbye, thank you for not hearing my "trying to make sense" And thank you to those who got this far and read what I've commented... ive more things but this is enough... Bye..
  20. Behind the scenes of this disgusting project... ugh.. They're trying to benefit the downtown business owners cos they're the ones who requested the pierce to be demolished, without caring about the through traffic which is rerouted in a less convenient way.. and demolish the awesome skyline views from every highway, which is a reason why this is a nonsense project... I just hope the project doesn't happen. That they'll lose all of the funding and I wish txdot bad luck and I hope that they go broke like massdot went in huge debt.
  21. Forget all this mess.. I don't want to hear it.. I give up now that I see that well..i can up with alternatives in vain.. I wasted 14 months doing alternatives.. Try in to convince people to hear me.. But the only people who did.. Are.. A friend I met because of this project.. And an English guy.. I wasted 14 months of my life.. Getting frustrated over all of this stupid project.. And school.. And other situations.. All.. For nothing.. Thank you for not hearing.. It makes me realise how I was such an idiot by being confident that they'd hear me.. But I was wrong.. It's like losing a friend (well.. not that bad..) It was my favourite highway.. But it's gone.. all hope is gone.. All I want to say is.. TxDOT... I hate you so damn much.. I'm moving to England for sure.. So that won't matter anyway.. Good luck.. Dziękuję.. Do widzenia..
  22. I've thought about it and... I've once again made a plan (yes annoying me has come back) on which someone i know gave me part of the idea. Express lanes for the 45 nd the 59 parallel to the 59 taking only half of the block rather than the full block. The main thing would be between runnels street and i-45. They'd be elevated cos there's really no other easy way to do it. And there would be connection to the i-45 gulf freeway hov And the North freeway express lanes And us-59 eastex how as well as the mainlanes of the mentioned highways, and connection to i-10 Katy freeway. And the 288 express. Plus reconstruction of the i-45 Allen pkwy interchange, i-45/10, i-45/59 interchanges and the us-59 between the spur 527 and i-45, Blue: reconstructed highways. Red:express lanes. All else: kept intact. Sorry for the bad handwriting. And bad drawings. It's pretty much how the final plan may be like. I guess. Thank you for reading. I guess. Bye.
  23. What is even good about sinking the highway, tbey Would get the same benefits with widening the elevated highway, plus not massively destroy an entire neighbourhood (of apartment complex with an appearance of a neighbourhood) And many blocks maybe demolish half of the block is fine, but not the entire block, And not blockading various streets. And the fact that the elevated highways are barriers is nonsense, ive crossed under the pierce elevated and it's not bad you can still get to the other side without even realising that there's an elevated highway there.(okay you realise it but you don't have to stop and go around various blocks away to get to the other side) Whilst i-45 North, you go on some random city street, turns out it's blockaded by the freeway, great now I've to go to airline drive or Tidwell or West or any, to get to the other side. The elevated highway was made to not create a barrier, so that the cars could cross on the streets below, it's downtown Houston, not the old West Berlin. And why do they not demolish the convention centre, that's a barrier too. It takes like 10 blocks,.(I'm assuming) And if they want to do it because we "don't have enough parks" that's nonsense. We have many parks compared to other cities.and I don't know about you but nearly every time I've been to downtown they're not crowded, except once but it was because it was new year. And the worst.... rerouting the 45 creating curves where you have to curve more than 80 degrees... and it's longer and pointless. Makes drivers not want to take that highway. And besides they're covering it so its a tunnel. Have you ever been in a tunnel.? It's terrifying, you get the feeling like you dont have enough space to breathe and like it all will collapse you and the noise makes the closed in space (as my friend calls it) too uncomfortable And the lights inside the tunnel don't make it better. It's scary. I hope this project doesn't happen, and that elevated highway stay up cos elevated highways are the best thing ever. (I used to be (amd still am) so fascinated by the fact that there were many elevated highways here when I moved here... but i guess the Houstonians and every one else hates it) So I'm trying to peacefully and not aggressively make sense. I hope someone reads. That... i want to get this project cancelled which I've tried for 14 months and only 1 person (who moved to Europe) understood Just saying idk..
